Time came to a complete standstill at Michael's question. His eyes said it all, he was truly serious about having Sarah move in with him at Neverland. She gazed into his sparkling browns, unable to speak. He in turn returned the gaze, reaching to cup her cheek within his hand, softly stroking her bottom lip.

"Please," he somewhat begged, voice trembling with uncertainty. "Please think about it."

Sarah swallowed hard as a silent gasp escaped her. This sudden change thrust her world upon its ear, despite these past few weeks leading up to this point, never did she imagine being asked such a question. Never would she have ever thought Michael would ask this.

"Michael, I–"

"I would give you the world if you ask for it, I'll give you the best life possible–"

"It's not that, I just–"

His eyes held uncertainty, and a hint of regret. "Was it too soon to ask? Or something more?"

She shook her head, "No, nothing like that. I'm just caught off guard, in a good way."

He sighed, shifting his gaze to the flickering flames. An almost uncomfortable silence formed between them, the only sounds that could be heard were the crackling of the fireplace and their soft breathing. Michael drifted off momentarily into the depths of his mind, fingers absently tracing patterns along Sarah's shoulder.

It was truly a moment of surprise, and had truly caught her off guard. It wasn't that she didn't want to live here, it was just the timing of it all. The initial interview had yet to be published, she has a job, and is nearly ready to graduate from college. And ready to step out into the world as her own person.

Sarah bit back the tears of frustration, sitting up to face the fireplace. She could feel Michael shift to bring her back against his chest, leaning back against his shoulder as she continued to gaze deep into the flickering flames. The feel of his arms around her only added to the moment as she struggled mentally.

Plus she was still worried about that phone call from earlier. Not wanting to poke and prod, she remained silent about it for the time being, hoping Michael would approach her about it first.

“What happened on the phone earlier, Michael?” She asked.

His body went rigid momentarily, “It's hard to talk about. I’d much rather talk about us, Sarah”

“But–”

Michael sighed, allowing his eyes to fall closed. He became quiet, his arms slowly tightening further around her waist. His chin carefully rested upon Sarah’s shoulder as a shaken breath passed his lips. This would truly be a test between them, Surely she already knew about his relationship with Lisa Marie, for they had been open about it to the public eye the entirety of their time together. The world knew practically everything about them, and the truth got twisted straight away. But now, one could only imagine who things would become due to the possible pregnancy.

Children. God, why did it have to be this way? Michael wanted a family created out of love, not out of anger and miscommunication.

“Did you see any of the coverage about me and Lisa Marie?”

“Yeah, a little bit. Why do you ask?”

Taking a deep and uncertain breath, Michael continued. “She’s who called me earlier.”

Time came to a stop around them. It became unnaturally quiet.

“She said I could possibly be the father of her child.”
