Silence filled the room, save for the occasional rumble of thunder and flash of lightning. It was starting to get dark, the storm clouds only adding to the moment.

Michael's eyes flickered in the candlelight, shimmering with emotion and passion.

It took her breath away. He was so beautiful.

His gaze shifted to his hands which were fidgeting within his lap. Now quiet and withdrawn, Michael sighed and closed his eyes. "Please forgive me."

"No, Michael," Sarah placed her hands atop his. "I'm not worried about that."

Their eyes met, thunder softly rolling overhead. It was a moment taken straight from a movie. The moment was perfect in every way possible. She gave him a small reassuring smile, thankful for the one he gave in return.

"You're a rare type of woman."

Sarah blushed. "Trust me when I say you're a rare type of man, Michael."

Once more they meet half-way in a tender kiss. Another rumble of thunder added to the serenity of the moment, as they wrapped into each other's embrace, falling back against the soft pillows upon the bed.

Michael threaded his fingers through Sarah's hair, drinking in the gasp emitting past her lips. God, she was so intoxicating to him. It was like drinking the finest and sweetest of wines. He couldn't get enough of her.

Moments slipped past, the pair remaining entwined in the approaching darkness. It was obvious with the weather and time that it wouldn't be fair to take her home. Michael simply couldn't allow that, it was against his loving and protective nature.

"This may sound crazy, but I can't see you going home tonight." Michael sighed. "But you are welcome to stay here tonight, if you like, of course."

Silence came between them, Sarah's hands curling into the fabric of Michael's shirt. This had to be a dream, a dream she's had for many years, along with millions of other female fans. Truth be told, she's always imagined having a life with Michael, to be there in his time of need, to hold and comfort him.

A dream of sharing a life, a dream of possibly sharing the end of time together.

"I would love to."

He smiled and sighed, stroking her hair as she continued to lay upon his chest. "Thank you."

"Hmm?" Sarah craned her neck to meet his eyes.

Michael simply gazed down at ger, cupping her cheek in his hand, tenderly stroking her bottom lip. "Thank you, for everything."

A sudden clap of thunder and bright flash of lightning caused Sarah to gasp and jump, snuggling further into Michael's arms. He couldn't help but to chuckle, moving to wrap the covers around them.

"Don't worry, I'll keep you safe tonight."

"Would I be able to stay with you?"

Michael tensed and swallowed hard against the lump in his throat. Never had a woman asked such a question in such a sincere tone of voice. It was always the opposite, tones of lust and longing, of deceit and only out for one thing. But he could tell and here the sincerity within Sarah's voice.

"Of course." He replied, a smile coming to his features.

Another clap of thunder and his arms tightened further about her waist. The almost childlike trembling warmed his heart in ways unimaginable, and it was a beautiful sight.

"Thunder won't hurt you, it's the lightning–"

A squeak of fear and surprise escaped her lips, and she pressed her face further against Michael's chest. A deep rumble could be heard deep within as he laughed softly.

"Shh, it's alright." Michael cooed, rocking her back and forth. "You're safe with me."

Sarah's hand refused to let go of his shirt, and Michael welcomed it fully. They lay together in the approaching darkness, as he leans over to blow the candles out. As the darkness swept across the room, the only light was now from the storm outside.

"Have you always been scared of storms?"

A simple nod of her head affirmed it for him.

Michael smiled and lay his chin atop her head, stroking her back slowly and tenderly. Her skin was soft and smooth to the touch, even through the fabric of the shirt. Oh, how he longed to feel it with no restraints or barriers.

"Ever since I was little. But only one thing could get me through a stormy night."

"And what would that be?" Michael asked.

"Your voice."

He smiled, taken by surprise at the reply. This wasn't the first time someone has told him that, but it was the first time for it to be this genuine and sincere.

"Really?"

"Mmhmm."

"Well, how about I sing just for you?"

Sarah flushed, falling further into Michael's arms as he began to hum and sing into her ear.

Liberian girl
You came and you changed my world
A love so brand new
Liberian girl
You came and you changed me girl
A feeling so true

Liberian girl
You know that you came
And you changed my world
Just like in the movies
With two lovers in a scene
And she says, "Do you love me?"
And he says so endlessly
"I love you, Liberian girl"

His voice dropped slightly as he sang the next few words.

mh-mh, babe
Ahh (ah, ah, ah, ah)
Mh-mh, babe, alright

Liberian girl
More precious than any pearl
Your love so complete
Liberian girl
You kiss me then, ooh, the world
You do this to me

Liberian girl
You know that you came
And you changed my world
Just like in the movies
With two lovers in a scene
And she says, "Do you love me?"
And he says so endlessly
"I love you, Liberian girl"

Before he could finish the song entirely, Sarah had fallen asleep within his embrace, eyelashes resting against her cheekbones, breaths soft and even to show her peace.

Michael smiled, placing a kiss upon her lips. Within moments he was asleep as well, able to fall into a peaceful slumber for the first time in years.

And it felt so right.
