"Oh, we'll see; we will ask your dad first," Mom said.
For approval, my dear annoying sister, so good luck. I know Dad is a good entrepreneur, and I know he will not approve of this. Well, I bet.
"Okay, Mom, I'm planning to call it 'Phoebe's Closet,' just saying! Well, if Dad agrees, and I'm sure he will," she said, then her eyelashes fluttered. Wow, you're pretty confident, my dear sister!
"You wish," I said and then roared into laughter to tease her.
"Kuya! Stop it! This business is not just a simple online store because I will fund my friends' designs and feature their works of art," Phoebe explains.
Oh, she's being a good friend now. I didn't know she had a good heart like this; I always thought she was my loud, annoying sister who complained a lot. It wasn't a secret that she was a spoiled brat; pretty obvious.
"How about your studies?" I asked. She thought of it, too, because it must be her top priority right now.
"It will be great as always, no grades below 95, I promise! I will graduate with flying rainbow colors," where the hell did flying rainbow colors come from?
"Sure you do," I surrendered. I know that Phoebe was an intelligent girl and like other big brothers did before me, I was only teasing her, and it worked all the time. Bad news for her, good news for me.
"We'll be here for a long time, so stop teasing each other. Just do your thing in silence. Phoebe, we'll talk about it when we meet your dad," Mom said. I was sure she had had enough of our endless bickering.
"Sure, mom," we answered in chorus.
I put on my headphones and turn on my iPod. It was fantastic to listen to good music once in a while. It relaxed my mind and made me lose control. There was this feeling of highness and lowness in my blood. It depended on the music I listened to on specific days.
I lost track of time and didn't realize I had slept for hours. And after a few more hours, we arrived in LA.
Dad picked us up. He was so excited to see us. We haven't seen each other for like a hundred years now. I may be exaggerating, but it was quite a while. Dad brought his limo, and the driver was still the same old one. Dad stayed the same from the last time I saw him, except that he was more good-looking now than ever.
"Son, how's Serenity doing?" he asked when we were in the car.
"It's doing great. The restaurant and bar sells itself. I am blessed to have it," I answered. He smiled warmly, and I knew he was happy to hear my good news.
"Good to hear that from you. Job well done, son," Dad said. Praises are great especially from Dad because he was a great man, and I always looked up to him.
"Thanks, Dad," I answered.
"How about my princess? What are you up to?" Dad asked the annoying one.
He spoiled her greatly; I understood it because she was his princess. He embraced her, and she hugged him back.
"Well, just busy with my studies but... I have a proposal for you, Dad," Phoebe said. Oh God, she's doing that puppy eye that Dad couldn't resist.
"Yes, love?" Mom said.
"Proposal?" dad asked. He looked at me, confused, and his eyes traveled back to my little sister and waited for her speech.
"I'm planning to create an online fashion boutique," my sister said. There, she said it; I wondered how Dad would react to her "business proposal."
"And?" Dad asked again; better explain it, good kid.
"And I'm into your approval, Dad," she explained her plans and vision. When she finished, she looked at our father and smiled. She fluttered her eyelashes plus the sweetest smile, and I knew it was my dad's weakness.
"Of course, start it right away, do what you want as long as you're happy," Dad said, hands down, sister.
"Thanks, Dad!" she celebrated. I was happy for her; well, at least she would be busier, which would lessen her time being annoying.
"But never neglect your studies, princess," Dad said.
As I reminded her earlier, "I promise, Dad; thank you! Ha! I told you, Kuya, Dad will agree with it," Phoebe said and stuck her tongue out at me.
Duh! You used your puppy eyes! It was unfair because that gave you the advantage!
"Whatever," I said and shrugged.
