The group lands their dragons on the plateau
Ryu gets off of Wei and then looks around
"I don't get it." he says, voicing his thoughts. "What happened? Where is everyone?" he asks, confused.
"I don't think this snow was here before." D'Angelo remarks.
"Could a storm have blown through this fast?" Jun wonders out loud.
"I don't think so." Tom answers.
"Yeah and storms don't usually leave behind claw marks." Alex adds, seeing the claw marks on the ground nearby.
"Thunder!" Ryu shouts out to him, cupping his hands around his mouth and hoping Thunder can hear him.
Shadow whimpers and whines fearfully
"Shadow. Shadow. Hey." Ryu says rapidly, bending down on 1 knee to lower himself and putting a tender hand on Shadow's head. "Hey, what happened? Where is everyone? C-can you show us?" he asks him.
Shadow just continues to whimper fearfully, causing Ryu to sigh in defeat
"He's too freaked out." Ryu realizes. "I never should've left Thunder here!" he yells to himself. "What was I thinking?" Ryu asks himself.
"Ryu, this is his home." Jun states, not wanting her boyfriend to blame himself. "You couldn't have known something was gonna happen." she adds.
"And Thunder and his family are tough dragons. I'm sure they'll be okay." Alex reassures him, who's surprisingly optimistic.
Feather squawks in surprise at her rider's optimism, while the other dragons let out surprised growls and a surprised screech
"What?" Alex asks, confused, seeing their surprised looks. "I can be optimistic. It just doesn't happen very often." she explains, gesturing to herself before crossing her arms.
Shadow chirps softly and looks up at Ryu as Ryu looks down at him, putting a hand on his head
"Little bro? D?" Ryu asks them, turning his head to look at them.
"Already on it, eldest Kullersen." he answers with a salute before getting off his dragon. "Okay, girl. Time to crank up that super sniffer and find us some lightning dragons." he tells her.
"You too, pal." Tom says to his dragon.
The tracker duo grunts and starts sniffing the ground while walking. The group slowly follows behind them. Wind can be heard blowing. Switchblade & Plowhorn eventually let out a soft growl and a soft screech. They look up to see the entrance to the cave the Night Light Elder stepped out of earlier today. Shadow then flies over and holds onto Ryu's backpack before chirping. This causes Ryu to look at him
"We must be on the right track." Ryu realizes. "Look at Shadow." he states as Shadow flies on ahead. "Come on!" he says loudly, running after Shadow.
The rest of the group runs after Shadow & Ryu, not knowing that something is watching them in thermal vision
Shadow eventually lands in front of the entrance to the cave
"Thunder!" Ryu calls out to him in a loud whisper, cupping his hands around his mouth again. "You in here?" he asks him, hoping he can hear him.
There's not a response as Shadow lets out a quiet snarl. Shadow then enters the cave, followed by Jun & Ryu and then followed by Alex & Tom & Eugene. D'Angelo turns back to look at the dragons
