Deep breath- and go!

I take my first step into the forest.

After some research I found the city to be about 15 miles from the school, which will take me about an hour to get there.

I need to get in shape. This is gonna be one long journey.

Before I left my room I had made a little sling out of an old shirt so I could put Gully in it while I walk. Street smart.

I also brought my bag along with me in case I find some stuff I want to take like fruit from the forest.

I tried dressing in my best clothes to look professional to the employees when I ask for jobs. I ended up wearing one of momma's old turtle necks that fits me more like a dress, my high socks, and my old shoes.

I frown down at my shoes

I frown down at my shoes. I really need a new pair, the hole in them is getting bigger and fraying.

I big gust of window tears through the trees causing me to shiver. And I need a new coat. I can't help but sigh. I need a lot of things but I have no money. Being an adult is hard.

I must be a few miles in and my feet already hurt from walking on the uneven forest floor. I haven't seen any flowers and I'm beginning to wonder if they only grow in that field I found some time ago.

After some time I grew worried that I may not be going the right way anymore. I tried remembering the library book's instructions but I was failing. I really should have checked the book out, but I didn't have any form of identification on me. As far as I remember momma never had identification for me.

I stopped my walk and sat in place to breathe. I just want to get to the city. Please please, please. For once something go right.

As I was squeezing my eyes shut, praying to every god I know, I felt something grow between my fingers. I shrieked and flung myself back onto my butt away from where I had just sat.

There, where it was once dirt, now grew lush grass. I watched it with great curiosity. To my surprise, it continued to grow in a thick line before it disappeared behind some trees. Intrigued I followed it.
