Working on a Book Cover Request: The Four Variants (Part One)

Finally, a time where one person must decide which one should be picked as their official book cover design.

If you had remembered the last chapter of that same name, which shows you the title design for the Unikitty fanfic "Broken & Frozen" by PepperRavenBat, I have spent a few days on working with the cover variants, and had finally finished with all four of them.

As I recall before, I have accepted to make a book cover upgrade for my new friend's fanfic, and I felt like accepting the challenge. I kinda did, and after a private conversation, managed to do the book cover request she wanted to do.

I have been working my butt off (and doing my studies as usual when I'm not doing it) for three, maybe four or five days since I posted the sketch for the new title design. Yeah, I know that sounds kinda hard, but at least I managed. Coffee breaks also helped, if I say so in an opinion.

So I went to my drawing pencils off my pencil case and with the erasers ready to undo any mistakes, I went to draw the four design variants for the cover on my own sketchbook. Before that, I made some notes for each of them with a gel pen, and while I draw, I refer to the actual sketches of the covers I made a few days earlier on a notebook, which is where most of my notes come from.

After the designs were finished, I went to take pictures of them and send it out here. But, since the file sizes of the pictures were a bit too much, and Wattpad says that any images uploaded here shouldn't exceed 10 MB, I have to split this chapter into two parts. Besides, the descriptions of the pictures themselves are longer than that for each of them.

As you can tell, they aren't shaded or colored whatsoever, so you can see the designs more clearly. I don't wanna get my hands stained with pencil dust for shading that much details.

Before I show you the designs, here's some things you should remember:

• It may or may not be according to your requests, as to show on each of them.
The five characters are there (Germafrost, Unikitty, Foxodile couple and Crystalline), but in different positions depending on the design.
• Germafrost might be bigger or on top on the cover designs. He will appear either simply sitting or acting out his ice powers, yet his eyes might show some weakness through his tears.
Additional characters are there: Puppycorn, Richard, Swanna and Lee. They may or may not appear in the designs themselves, although they only appear on the sides.
The title remains the same, yet the subtitles may be in different positions. "A Unikitty Fanfic" may or may not show in the designs.
• Snowflakes always appear in all of them.
• The names of the author and artist will appear on different positions.
• These are pencil drawings, and not official cover drawings, so please don't use the pictures as your book cover. I will make the digitalized one for you soon, so please read my warning.

Okay, I'm done talking. Here's the first two out of Four Variants for Broken & Frozen:

Design #2: "Poster"

This cover is designed with a complete landscape background and with every corner filled with designs, like a portrait-oriented promotion poster

This cover is designed with a complete landscape background and with every corner filled with designs, like a portrait-oriented promotion poster.

- Crystalline appears in the top middle of the title, with tears turned snowflakes drifting out in both left and right sides, some even turning to stars
- The background was set in a moonlit evening landscape with ice cream snow and pine trees out of cotton candy, and the Ice Palace will be seen behind Germafrost
- The antagonist will be seen raising his hands to do magic, with the ice horn glowing above the title; he was shown in a tearful, angry face while doing his ice magic
- The transparent cape will show some transparency on the background
- Three characters appear on the bottom middle side of the cover: Unikitty, Dr Fox and Hawkodile. The princess was placed in the middle, her paws holding a glowing heart and looking up at Germafrost with friendly love. Dr Fox was shown on the left, looking forward and waving her left hand, and Hawkodile was shown on the right, smiling proudly and his left hand holding the subtitle box
- Other characters can be seen in the background in small sizes as cameos: Puppycorn and Rick on the left, Swanna and Lee on the right
- Subtitle box is a separated trapezoid at the bottom of the cover; "Book One of 'Made to Love' Series" is on the top, with the author and artist text boxes are on the bottom left and bottom right corners of the box
- "A Unikitty Fanfic" isn't shown in this design
- A snowflake was added in the bottom part of the box; may not be included in its digitalized version

And this stops here. Part Two up next, stay tuned.
