Kalani Makoa's barely managing her life in the Vlasteri, the poorest of all five provinces of her country when a letter arrives for her in the mail. I wanna see my family again. -Prologue- I was in the Admin's room, trying to swipe my card. It wasn't working. I sighed, swiping faster so I could meet up with my brother. Just then the door slammed close. I jumped scared, swiping faster now. "Please work." I whispered to myself. I look at the vent, scared I was gonna die here. A tall figure comes out of the vent, walking over to me. Its black... the lights goes off causing me me yelp. I was about to scream but a hand covers my mouth. I'm pulled into him. I struggle to keep tears from falling. I don't wanna die! Not now... He grabs my card and swipes it getting it correct in the first try. He lets go of my mouth, stepping back.
