Gift

I looked at my phone as I felt it vibrate against my hand. Nang buksan ko ito ay bumungad sa akin ang text ni Tita Aurora.

It's already been a whole week since our wedding. Kakabalik lamang nina Mom at Tita Aurora dito sa syudad. They stayed for almost six days there at the beach. Sina Jade at Nica naman ay sumunod na rin sa pagbalik sa akin noong Tuesday pa.

From: Tita Aurora

Imo, dear. Are you and Andre free for today? Maybe later at 5 in the afternoon?

Agad naman akong nagtipa ng aking reply.

To: Tita Aurora

i'm free, tita. i don't know about andre though. he's probably busy again with the company.

Andre has been very hands on with the company. We never met after that lunch in his office. Dahil sa sobrang daming natambak na trabaho sa kaniya dahil sa panandalian naming kasal ay marami siyang kinakailangang habulin. I can only feel his presence when I suddenly see a small tub of my favorite ice cream on top of my desk. I just know that it's from him.

Are you not in contact with him?

To: Tita Aurora

no, tita. we're too busy po kasi, especially andre. i also don't want to distract him in his work.

From: Tita Aurora

Ok. I'll be the one to talk to him. Be sure to be free in the afternoon, ok?

Muli akong humarap sa harap ng aking laptop. Since it's Saturday, I don't really have much to do. Lahat na rin kasi ng trabaho ko for this week ay natapos ko na. So, I decided to relax. I'll use this day to give my body and mind a rest.

I used the whole afternoon for rest. Nanuod lamang ako ng mga movies at saka kumain. I laid on my bed the whole day. Nang dumating ang alas-kuwatro ay saka lamang ako kumilos. Tita Aurora already texted me again that we will continue with her plan this afternoon.

Agad akong naligo at nagsuot lamang ng simpleng damit. I wore an oversized pastel pink hoodie and paired it with black leggings. Hindi na ako nag-abala pang mag-ayos at itinali lamang ang aking buhok sa mataas na ipit. I wore a cap and also got my slippers.

Nang makatanggap ng text mula kay Andre na nasa baba na siya ng aking condo ay agad naman akong bumaba. Dinala ko lamang ang aking cellphone at wallet. Nang makababa ng elevator ay bumungad sa akin sa harapan ng condo building ay ang kulay itim na kotse ni Andre. I walked over to it and immediately stepped in.

I looked at him and examined his clothes. "You just came from a meeting, huh?" tanong ko rito. He was still wearing an olive green colored dress shirt with his black slacks. Nakatanggal ang pagkakaayos ng kaniyang itim na neck tie at nakalaylay lamang ito sa kaniyang leeg.

"Yeah. My mother interrupted our meeting earlier. If only it was not my mother, baka mas matagal pa ako sa opisina," sabi nito.

He really treasures his mother so much more than others. Kahit anong sabihin o iutos ni Tita Aurora sa kaniya kahit labag man ito sa kaniyang loob ay gagawin niya. That's why we ended up with this marriage. Napakadali niyang napa-oo.
