None of this is what I wanted most, I thought.
Tiaras.
Red carpets.
Foreign countries.
Roses and cars.
None of it mattered in this moment.
"You really think love is something that can be bought?" I asked as my heart continued to fall.
His silver eyes met mine, and they looked as empty as they did the night I first met him at the ball. "It's why you're here, right?"
His breath shuttered when my hand reached nearer to his. Every fiber of him was at war with himself.
Laughter.
Cuddles.
Telling scary stories in the rain.
Running from all the pain into the haven of pleasure we both created for ourselves.
That's what I wanted, I thought. All I wanted.
I smiled softly at him and placed his hand to the mid of my chest. "No Vincent," I whispered, "I'm not here for this. I'm here for you."
