Chapter 24 - Anna's Truth

Anna and Maine were done with their two bottles of red wine and now stirring through their coffee brought by Mikoy. It's almost midnight and both ladies are still at it. Both taking a sip from their coffee and savoring it's warmth, removing the wine effect, Anna started to talk.

Menggay, we've been friends way, way back and I know you like the back of my hand. You're my sister from another mom. We shared a lot in life, went through a lot that tested our friendship to it's highest level. You know I would be a friend forever despite the circumstances you know I got your back and I know you have mine. I have always been honest with you even if it hurts you basta alam mo ang totoo na galing sa akin and I say it as it is. I have seen you through your ups and downs, I saw you at your lowest, saddest, happiest, your best and worst. I saw how you fight your way through the hardest situations and see you emerge as a winner. I saw how you accept defeat, I saw you cry for days and eat like a savage beast. We've been through a lot and you've become a tougher yet beautiful person I have ever known. Now you are here, a runaway, seeking refuge, peace so that you do not lose your sanity. And this I tell you my friend - you are at a lost. - Anna

Menggay was listening to Anna attentively. When she said that she's lost, Maine just stared at her and does not dispute her friend's statement.

Knowing you Menggay, napaka organize mo, napaka efficient, perfectionist nga e na nakakainis and now you are messed up, walang clear path kaya ka tumakbo papunta dito at dito talaga sa Italy ha. Sa sobrang bait mo malamang di ka na naman nagsalita sa team mo, tinago mo na naman pagiging beastmode mo. Maine just nodded in agreement with her friend.

Ilang beses kita tinanong kung happy ka during our conversation, di ka makasagot ng straight na YES or OO happy ako, mag eexplain ka muna bago ka makasagot. Are you trying to convince me or are you trying to convince yourself? Because your answer is crap! You are plainly happy but not happy in its real sense. Yan si Jason, di ako kumbinsido na mahal mo yan, alam mo ba kung bakit? Kasi nadadala ka lang ng nasa paligid mo. All your friends that you were with when all of you were single are all in a relationship. And ikaw, ayaw mong maiwan kaya when Jason came and befriended you, you felt ito na yun. Kasi nga may time for you, can be with you kapag ginusto mo at nakakasama mo sa lugar na gusto mo puntahan - in short di siya busy, wala siya project e. Sorry to be brutally frank I don't see or feel his sincerity or love for you. Ikaw naman, palibhasa napaka hopeless romantic mo naniwala ka naman kasi binibigyan ka ng time. 

E, totoo naman di ba when you love a person you make time for that person. And Jason makes time for me. - Maine

Kailan ka pa naging tanga Menggay? Did showbiz got you dumb? He has all the time because he do not have work, he has nothing else to do kundi ang bumuntot sayo. Ikaw naman - there is a huge difference between being in love from in love sa concept ng love, and you are the latter. Menggay ang pagiging in love di lang emotion, it involves the other person. You are in love with the concept of being in love kasi people you are with have their own person and you feel left out and the person that would fill in your needs was Jason. Kasi yun ang gusto mo, to have someone that has the time for you to be with you to wherever you want to be, who gives in to what you want. Isa pa Menggay, ang pagiging girlfriend hindi obligasyon. You do things for the other person because you love doing it not because you have to do it kasi girlfriend ka and you are expected to do it. You've been here for 2 days already and did Jason called you already? Hinanap ka ba niya? Hinahanap ka ba niya? At kung hinahanap ka niya, bakit ka niya hinahanap? naisip mo ba yun Menggay? Tell me, tinawagan ka na ba niya? Alam ba niya kung nasaan ka? - Anna

Maine was dumbfounded and was about to answer when her phone rings. Both ladies looked at the caller ID as the phone is right in front of them. Maine was staring at the phone thinking if she is going to answer it. "Speaking of the devil. Go ahead and answer I am going to pee anyway" says Anna and she's on her way to the toilet. 

Hello? - Maine

Bub! Where are you? I have been answering questions from reporters about your whereabouts and nauubusan na ako ng sasabihin sa kanila, yun mukha ko nasa TV na, they've been asking about you. - Jason

I am just taking a break, I will be back din naman agad. Kaya mo naman sagutin ang mga interviews na yan. - Maine

You want me to join you? I'll keep you company, where are you? - Jason

No need na, I just need to be alone this time and I am out of the country - Maine

Ah, really? Sayang sana sinama mo ako di naman kita guguluhin. What country? Japan? - Jason

Basta. Babalik din naman ako, I still have a lot of work to do, I just need this break, please. - Maine

You know you can talk to me, I will listen naman and understand what you are going through. Just take care of yourself. We still have lots of things to do together. I miss you. - Jason

Ok. Ingat ka. I have to go. Bye. - Maine

Just in time, Anna was back and already sitting in front of Maine when the call ended. And Anna was staring at her.

Fine! Oo na, tama ka. Wala nga siya pakialam bakit ako umalis at excited pa sa mga interviews niya because of me. And I don't want to tell him I am in Italy dahil pag aawayan namin yun either dahil di ko siya sinama or maalala niya na this place is close to my heart - Maine

Anna, smirking and telling Maine, 'I told you so'

Ngayon ko lang naisip ya mga sinabi mo sa akin bruha ka. It knocked me out of my senses and I am now really lost and I am not happy having this feeling, nag oover think na naman ako dahil sa mga pinagsasabi mo. - Maine

When you are with Jason, are you able to be your REAL self? Beastmode kung beastmode, matunog na mura as in malutong on top of your voice, and you being silly and crazy walang pretensions - nagagawa mo ba yun sa harap niya? - Anna

Minsan pero hindi full blast and thinking of it now, para akong ibang tao - naiinis ako! - Maine

I don't want to judge Jason, pero there is something about him that is very dark. Ewan ko Menggay ha pero ako lang ito, this is just me and my observation. Hay naku Menggay, what have you gotten into? Pero, moving on, di pa ako tapos sa litanya ko sayo babae ka. Ngayon, at naalog na yang utak mo because I gave you a different perspective, I will give you more para maging clear sayo. Di mo man lang ba naicompare si RJ kay Jason kahit minsan? - Anna
