Narrator P.O.V

It had been a while since the training camp incident and the class had received some amazing news. Rani had awoken and had been transferred out of the intensive care. They could now visit her with less hassle!

Everyone was overjoyed at the news, and they all made plans to visit Rani as soon as possible. among her friends, however, someone decided that instead of seeing her later, he wanted to and had to visit her now.

Why did he have to visit her now, you may wonder. It was because he needed to know.

Hitoshi Shinso made his way to the hospital Rani was currently staying at one Saturday afternoon. Thoughts kept running through his head, and sometimes he felt like he just wanted to turn around and run away. Despite the feeling of anxiety growing in his chest, he knew that he had to be strong if he wanted an answer to his question.

It didn't take long for him to arrive at the entrance. He walked in, asked for Rani's room number and was instantly given it. Signing his name into a visitor booklet, he then turned to walk down the hall towards the specified room.

Walking in, hesitating only slightly at the door, he was greeted with a much more comforting sight than he had seen in the intensive care unit, although that was to be expected. Rani was sat up in her bed, dressed in a hospital gown and was staring out the window in thought. Earbuds could be seen in her ears. She hadn't yet noticed Shinso.

The purple-haired male in question, however, was frozen. He stood near the door, which he had closed behind him, in silence. He didn't know what to do. Sensing that someone was looking at her, Rani turned around slowly and met the gaze of her friend. Rani's mouth slowly turned up into a smile, lifting up her phone to pause her music and take out her headphones.
"Hey, Shinso," She said softly.

Before Rani could even mutter another word, Shinso had rushed towards her, wrapped his arms around her and had buried his face into her neck. His grip was so strong that Rani was locked in place, unable to move at all just about. After a few seconds, Shinso's grip loosened just enough for her to be able to move her arms. She slowly raised them and wrapped them around the boy in front of her, who's body was shaking ever so slightly.

"Thank god you're okay...!" He said, shaking in her arms. Rani didn't speak a word and continued to hold him close, her eyes closed.
"I.. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't..!"

The two remained like that for a little while longer, before eventually they slowly broke apart. Rani rested her arms on top of Shinso's shoulders as she began to finally speak.
"Sorry I worried you. I'm okay now, I promise."

The boy in front of her nodded his head, his eyes cast to the ground. Silence filled the empty air around them and something began growing in Shinso's stomach. Eventually, Rani hesitantly spoke up again.
"So.. want to fill me in on what's happened?"

"I see..." I mumbled, my head resting in my palm. Shinso sat on the end of my bed and had finished explaining everything that had happened while I'd been unconscious, as much as he knew anyways.

A growing fear continued to linger in my chest. I knew I had to speak to him about being a horrible friend but I didn't know how to bring it up. Something in his eyes also said he wanted to speak about something, but it seems as thought he didn't know how to start either.

Silence filled the air once more, before I once again slowly raised my voice.
"Hey... Shinso?"
"...Yeah?"
"I... just wanted to apologise."
"For what?"

My head lowered to the hands resting in my lap, Shinso's gaze burning into the side of my head. He didn't say a word. I knew he was waiting patiently for me to answer him.
"For... just being a horrible friend. I realised before this whole situation that I haven't been spending time with you, and although I knew we've been been busy it makes me feel like just a horrible person... so I'm sorry."

With my arms wrapped around my legs, I closed my eyes and waited for his reaction. A few moments went passed before he finally mumbled something under his breath.
"Huh?" I asked, raising my head and turning in his direction. He was staring at me with a strange gleam in his eye, a sneaky smile on his face that made it seem like he was up to no good.

"I don't mind, Rani." He finally said, his expression not changing. "If I'm being honest, I felt as thought I'd done something wrong to make you avoid me. Knowing that it wasn't my fault and was simply me overthinking things makes me feel a lot better. So thank you."

"Class 1A has been through so much lately..." he continued, shifting closer towards me. "I know you guys never asked for any of this, so I don't blame you for being busy."

My eyes widened as his hand suddenly began to reach out for my face. I froze, unable to move or even speak. It wasn't the work of his quirk, I knew that much. The pounding in my chest quickly made its way into the ears, and all I could hear was his voice.
"But as long as you are okay... it doesn't matter to me. Text, call or meet up with me when you're free, I don't mind. As long as you're safe."

I could feel his fingers gently brush against my skin as he moved a stray peace of hair behind my ear. His face held a secret that I couldn't help but want to uncover, his eyes showed that he was lost in thought. My mind for a moment drifted back to the conversation I'd had with Lily back at the campsite, and I couldn't help but wonder.

Is this what she was referring to?

His hand that slowly moved to rest on my cheek, his gaze stuck linked to my own. I could feel my heart in my chest, beating and threatening to fall out.

Suddenly, I was snapped back into reality when Shinso suddenly pulled away from me, standing up and clearing his throat. Whatever confidence Shinso had just now had disappeared, replacing him with his normal self.
"A-Anyways, I think I'm gonna head out for the night. Got some homework I need to finish. I'll visit soon though, okay?"

"O-Okay! Goodnight Shinso!"
"Night Rani."
