Ah, mornings.

How much Shay despised them.

The good news, on the other hand, is that he gets to wake up to his daughter on his chest. No matter how many times he's tucked her into bed, she always finds a way to sleep next to him.

Shay carefully sat up, cradling Y/n's head close to his chest. He planted soft kisses to her forehead and the crown of her head.

Hearing her giggle caused him to chuckle along.

He swung his legs over the bed and stood up.

"Good morning, Y/n."

Y/n titled her head back, giving Shay a grin.

"Mornin', Daddy!"

Placing Y/n down on the floor, the father and daughter started their day.

"Daddy, no!"

Clinging to Shay's leg, Y/n refused to let go of her father.

"Y/n, I understand you don't want me to go," said Shay. "I don't either but I have to. You like Colonel Monro, don't you?"

Y/n jutted her lower lip, giving her father the best puppy eyes she can muster.

"No, no, and no. Y/n, you are staying with Monro and that is final. I can't have you in danger."

Y/n started to cry when the Morrigan set sail. Her crying got louder when Monro started to led her away from the docks.

Her crying slowly came to a stop leaving her with sniffles.

"She's quite attached to Cormac."

"Well, of course. Any child would be attached to their fathers and mothers."

Haytham and Monro watched Y/n sit by the window, peering out of it. Despite it being a few hours, Y/n's already a mess; consumed with worry and a bit of panic.

"Daddy." Y/n whined.

"I know, I know," said Monro. "You're worried, I understand that. Your father will be fine, do you understand?"

Y/n sniffled again, looking out the window.

"Come now, child. Let's get you washed up and ready for bed."

3 months, and 27 days.

That's how long Shay was gone for.

Each passing moment was painful and lonely.

"Perfect timing, I might say," said Haytham to Shay. "She's just fallen asleep."

Shay's shoulders sagged in relief as he went up the stairs. Quietly opening the door, he slipped inside and shut it behind him.

Laying down beside Y/n, he dragged her over to him. Planting a soft kiss to her forehead, he sighed and let fatigue take over.

When morning came, Y/n immediately brightened.

Squishing her father's cheeks together, Y/n pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose.

"Mornin', Daddy!"

Yeah. Morning snuggles are amazing.

Oof. It's been four days since I haven't updated? Maybe five? I've lost track, honestly.

I hope you enjoyed this upload. I hope it was fluffy and sweet enough to sate your hunger.

So, uh, until next time?
