"It's okay. It's going to be okay," Arno cooed.

In his arms laid a wailing baby girl. He and Demetri found the baby in an alleyway. Lost or abandoned, they didn't know.

And that left Arno with dealing with her while Demetri is out to look for the infant's parents.

"I'm sorry, Arno. I went around and asked. Nobody knows or lost a baby," said Demetri. "You have two options right now. Take her to the orphanage or look for a couple that is willing to take in a child."

Arno stood in front of the orphanage, cradling the bundle in his arms.

He hated leaving her at the steps of the orphanage. It wasn't fair that she had to go to the orphanage when he was an orphan himself.

Elise's father took him in and he's grateful for it.

He looked down at the bundle. Seeing her so content and quiet in his arms, Arno made his decision. He spun on his heels and walked away from the orphanage.

"Don't you worry, little one. I'll take care of you."

"You know, taking care of a child is a lot of responsibility," said Phillip, leaning against the wall

He, Demetri, Gerard, and Arno returned to the cafe. Demetri and Gerard were helping Arno fix a room for the little one.

Speaking of her, none of them knew what to name her.

"What about Fleur?" Gerard suggested.

"It literally means flower though," Phillip said.

"So? I bet she's going to be a lovely girl once she grows up. Why not name her after a lovely flower?" Gerard countered.

The argument came to a pause. Hearing a small cough and crying filled the air.

Arno appeared from the room next door and picked the baby up from his bed.

Immediately, she fell silent. Arno looked down at the bundle and she stared right back at him. Then she smiled, showing her toothless mouth.

"I think I'll name her Y/n. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?"

The three men in the room shared a look.

"Alright. Yeah. Y/n."

Arno didn't have the heart to let her sleep in the room next door

Arno didn't have the heart to let her sleep in the room next door. So, he kept her in his bed.

When she started to fuzz in the middle of the night, Arno checked for what she needed.

"Got hungry in the middle of the night, huh?" Arno chuckled, spoon feeding* her warm milk.

"You little cutie. I can't stay mad at you for long, can I?"

Y/n turned her head away from the spoon and Arno put it away. He made sure she fell asleep before heading down to the kitchen.

Returning, Arno slipped into bed. He tucked Y/n against him and smiled.

"Goodnight, mon petit."

*So, I've done some research. Apparently baby bottles didn't exist in the 1700s. They were made in the 1900s. Before baby bottles were invented, most would have wet nurses.
