I grabbed the music from off the counter and took a deep breath.

“On the Line. R5 featuring Avery Mason.” Great! Just great! I thought to myself, throwing the music down into my bag.

Ross scared me as he walked into my dressing with a huge smile on his face. “Did you hear? We're gonna do a song together!” He wrapped his arms around me and practically squeezed me to death.

“Ross, can't – br- breath!” I maaged to yell out.

“Opps...” He dropped the hug. “I'm just super excited to do this song!”

“At least one of us is...” I muttered under my breath.

“What? Aren't you excited too?” My blond headed friend asked slightly hurt. I gave a deep sigh.

“Ross, if things were different, you could bet your life on it that I would be excited to do the song with you guys. But they aren't.” I explained.

“But I thought you and Rydel worked things out?” He challenged.

“We did, but we aren't as close as we used to be.”

He shrugged his shoulders. “That doesn't matter! You can work things out!” He gave me the puppy dog pout. “Please do the song with us!”

I couldn't help but smile. “Fine, I'll do it.”

The next morning I was standing outside the recording studio, my hands were shaking with fear as I pulled the door open.

The first thing I noticed was Stormie and Mark sitting on the couch in each others arms, both of them glowing. I want that, and honestly, with Kendall I know I'll never have it. But when I was Rocky, I could see us getting married, popping out a few kids. But it wasn't a possibility anymore...

“Morning.” I tried to smile as I set my things down on the counter.

“Morning Avery.” Stormie replied, pulling herself off the couch. “The kids are gonna be here soon.” I nodded my head and walked over to a quiet corner where I could practice the song again.

“Mom, got your coffee.” Riker's voice cut through my thoughts. I turned around to see all six of them standing in the middle of the room.

“Let's do this.” Mark said, clapping his hands to get everybody's attention.

Rydel walked over to her piano, Ratliff walked behind the drums and took a seat. Riker and Ross grabbed their weapons of choice, while Rocky grabbed his green guitar and stood next to me.

“Let's just do a dry run through before actually recording anything.” Mark declared.

The band started to play a melody as I pulled the microphone up to my lips. “I didn't wanna say I'm sorry for breaking us a part.”

Riker took the next line. “I didn't wanna say it was my fault even though I knew it was.” We went back and forth with each other, singing the chorus together. On the second versus, I sang with Ross.

“Listen baby!” I sang out.

“Never would have said forever if I knew it'd end so.” Ross's voice sang beside me. Why did you say 'I love you', If you knew it that it wouldn't last”

And again we sang back and forth, singing the chorus with Riker.

“I try to call again. I get your mailbox. Like a letter left unread” When Rocky started to sing, I almosted started to cry. His voice was so beautiful.

“Apologies are often open ended.” I sang back to him.

When we sang together, the world felt right, even of the words weren't. “But this one's better left unsaid.”

We finished the song with me and Riker sing the chorus together for the third time.

“That sounded great guys.” Ryland said from outside of the recording booth. “Let's get it recorded and we'll be done here.”

So we sang the song one more time and called it a wrap cause the parents and manager were happy with the outcome.

“Good job guys.” I said quietly as I grabbed my purse, about to head out of the room.

“What are you doing for lunch?” Ross asked me, catching everybody by surprise.

“Um, probably nothing, why?” I asked sceptically.

“We're going to get lunch, do you want to come with us?” He asked hopefully.

I was about to open my mouth when my phone went singing. Of course Kendall would call me at this exact moment! “Um, I have to take this. It's Kendall.”

I cringed at myself. Why did I have to say that? “Hello?” I asked, walking out of the room.

“I'm picking you up in twenty minutes, be ready.” he said, and with nothing else to say, he hung up.

I rolled my eyes as I walked back into the room. “Thanks for the offer Ross, but I'm having lunch with Kendall.”

Nobody said anything, so I took that as a good thing and said goodbye one more time before walking out. And I could swear I saw Rocky gritting his teeth like he does when he's mad.

A week later, you couldn't turn on the radio with out hearing our song playing on repeat. I cringed at the sound of my own voice.

“We are going to celebrate!” Liam declared, grabbing both of our jackets, pulling me out of the apartment.

“Celebrating what?” I complained.

“Sunny, your song is all over the radio! That's something worth celebrating.”

I just rolled my eyes playfully as I got into his car.

He ended up taking me to one of our favorite restaurants.

As we sat down I couldn't help but smile, thinking about how great my career has been since I have gotten here.

My phone started to go off. I looked to the caller ID. Nora.

“Hello?” I excused myself from the table.

“Avery? I have some good news for you...” My manager said with a full on smile. “Hollywood Studios wants you to have your very first concert at the local mall!”

“What?” I almost yelled out loud, a glowing smile on my face. “You're kidding!”

“No way Avery. They want you to build up your fan base before you release your cd next year.” She explained. It took me a minute to take this all in. “So, what do you say? Do you want to do it?”

“C-can I call you back later?” I could barely get the words out. She said of course and hung up. I couldn't believe it!

Not the fact that Disney wants me to do my very first concert, but the fact that my so called boyfriend was sucking faces with some girl across the street...
