She would sit in the kitchen, watching the time tick on. There was nothing better to do now that she was stuck waiting for the inevitable: the visit that would bring hell on to this very planet, or, in this case, Jo Cordova's seemingly pleasant and peaceful life.

But, as she sat there, she couldn't help but let her mind wander to what happened almost a month ago -- a month since she broke the news to her highly opinionated and religious mother.

..... ..... .....

She hung up the phone, her hand beginning to grow numb at how tight her hands gripped the small device in her hands. After thirty minutes of listening to her mother's incessant disapproval and not one word of praise, her ear was red and talked off.

"Is everything alright?" or "How'd it go?" were the words that left Beanie's mouth -- honestly, she couldn't remember which was said, she could only remember what came after.

She went to the living room and found him sitting there on her couch, oddly quiet as he didn't seem to be paying attention to the program on tv. He just sat there, staring at nothing in particular before he brought himself to look up at her worry-filled eyes.

"Harry... I think... I think you should go... for a while."

Maybe it was the way she said it, or maybe he just didn't exactly understand the severity of the situation; either way, she knew she upset him.

"You want me to leave?" He stood from his seat, his posture not quite like his everyday self as he seemed to slouch like there was a heavy weight on his shoulders. The usual playful smile on his face was nowhere in sight as his green eyes were downcast -- not focused on her, but rather the floor by her bare feet.

Her jaw dropped slightly as she tried to force the words out of her mouth. Even though she was angry at him for not being as excited as she was for the baby, she still couldn't get over the look of hurt on his face.

It's never easy to hurt people.

"Y-Yeah."

He caught the little break in her voice, caught the hesitation -- you could tell as his eyes briefly flickered up from the ground and met hers. But, even though he did, he couldn't help but see her as the bad guy.

"Whatever... I wasn't even here by choice anyway."

So he made his choice, and he left.

..... ..... .....

You never forget the day when everything changes, no matter how hard you try.

In this case, she hurt someone she truly cared about just to impress her mother and stay in her favor, even though her mother never showed.

And she still waited, even though it's been a month since "the incident". She waited and waited and waited... for him to realize that she didn't say it because she didn't care, but rather because she cared too much.
