"Brynny!" Her dad cheered as he saw his daughter on the other side of the door he just opened
They embraced and then his smile felt immovable as he looked at his daughter's best friend and someone who quickly became a part of their family
"Jon!" Brynn's dad cheered
"Hey dad." Jon chuckled leaning into his hug
"Where's Joseph?" He asked, noticing only the two on his doorstep
"Oh he was needed for Smackdown tonight. He'll be here tomorrow." Brynn answered as she and Jon walked in with their suitcase
"What're you guys even doing here so soon?" Brynn's dad asked
"We were meant to come tomorrow, but we wanted to surprise you," Brynn replied as Jon grabbed onto her shoulders
"I honestly didn't know you guys were coming so soon, so I was going to the club with the boys at 7," her dad said with a frown
"Oh no dad, don't cancel it, go have fun, Jon and I will just go have some dinner or something. Joe'll be here at 10 tomorrow morning." Brynn replied and sighed
Jon, Brynn and her dad stayed home and spent the 4 hours together until it reached 7 o clock and they got ready, Jon and Brynn to go dinner and her dad to go out with his boys
Brynn took out her phone and handed it to her dad before he left them and she asked him to take a picture of her and Jon

Jon and Brynn sat down at the table, Jon unzipping his hoodie, revealing his black sleeved muscle tee, he opened the menu and looked at Brynn as she picked up her beer glass
"How are you and Joe?" Jon asked
"I mean we're good of course. But I-" Brynn paused
"But you?" Jon asked squinting almost as if he was scrutinizing her facial reactions
"He says he understands that I'm not ready for marriage but I still feel as though because he doesn't know the reasons, that he doubts my love for him," she stated truthfully
Jon hummed then looked up as the waiter came and they ordered
"Come to think of it, I don't even know the reason," Jon stated
Brynn bit her lip and looked off
"It's so complicated. No one except dad knows," she admitted
"Is that why?" He asked looking at her
"Is that why you don't wanna tell Joe about why you're so hesitant about this marriage thing?" He spoke
"My mom and dad's marriage was the most beautiful relationship in the world. The way they acted, it was like they were so in love, almost like nothing could come between them then all of a sudden dad sits me down and says that they're getting a divorce," Brynn said
"Then I get over it enough to accept Fergal's proposal when he asked me to marry him, 6 months later, the engagement is broken off because he cheated on me." She finished as her eyes filled with tears
"Babe," Jon said, looking at her with sympathy, he understood now.
"You're afraid he hurts you." Jon said sadly
"Yeah, I won't be able to live if Joe hurts me. Let alone if he asks me to marry him and we do then something happens and we break up, or we have a kid and then divorce and then that puts the child at a risk that I had to go through. And no one deserves to go through that." She explained
"Joe doesn't doubt you guys' relationship, neither your love, he doubts if he's the right person for you sometimes, especially when you say things that make him feel you're extremely hesitant on marrying him." Jon told her and that's when a tear rolled down her cheek which Jon quickly reached across the table and wiped it away
"Just talk to Joe and explain it when the moment presents itself because he needs to know your hesitance to get married is not on him." Jon advised to which Brynn nodded and wiped under her eyes
"You understand what I'm saying?" Jon asked, dipping his hot wing into the ranch dressing, she nodded
