Magnus leaned back on his sofa, breathing out. That turned into a lot of shit for just an engagement party. He should have guessed, though; nothing is ever small with those goddamn shadowhunters. It was his fault, though. It was his fault that all of that went down. He pulled Alec away – he kissed Alec. And it was wonderful and enthusiastic as Alec’s kisses always were, and he was always surprised by how brilliant and fantastic the feeling was. Even now, his lips tasted like him, his familiar scent was still on his clothes. It brought back memories. The floodgates that held back everything reminding him of that brilliant man. He was the only partner he’d loved so much. He put his head in his hands. Jesus, five years…he thought that those feelings would have at least subsided a little. But Alec still had the ability to twist his emotions and pull him apart with every turn of his head.

There was a knock at the door, but he stayed quiet. Then it came again, followed by the sound of something being carved on his door. Was someone actually daring to vandalise the front door of the High warlock of Brooklyn? He sat up, as he heard the door clicked unlocked.

The figure came walking into his apartment, his black hair slightly damp from the rain. Magnus let down his guard again. “Did you just carve an opening rune into my door?” Magnus asked. The figure, whom he could now clearly see was Alec, shrugged off their jacket. “Well you weren’t letting me in.”

“You didn’t give me enough time to open the door.”

“It was cold and wet outside, I didn’t want to stay out there longer than I had to.”

“I also maybe locked the door so people didn’t just walk in?” Magnus asked. Alec rolled his eyes,

“you  only stormed back into my life and ruined my relationship of one and a half years, no, by the angel, how could I just walk into your apartment after that?” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Magnus stood up, “fine…sit down, I guess.” He said, standing up himself, not wanting to be so close to that man. Alec did, and stared up at Magnus.

“So…why are you actually here?” Magnus asked, crossing his arms over his chest. Alec sighed,

“Because Bo threw me out of our house, and Isabelle and Simon are out, and Jace and Clary have had enough of me already.” He explained. Magnus shrugged,

“What about your parents?” That sentence caused Alec to visibly flinch.

“Mom died last year.” He said, Magnus quirked an eyebrow,

“But your dad is still alive and well?” He urged. Alec shrugged,

“I haven’t spoken to him since I started my relationship with Bo. He said that…if I didn’t marry a girl, and if I kept on insisting that I was gay, then he didn’t want me. So…I moved out.” he said. Magnus nodded, finally deciding it would be better to sit next to him. “So you came here because…” he asked. Alec shrugged, “I thought that…when you kissed me, maybe you…” he looked down, his shoulders slumped. “You know what, never mind? I’m sorry for bothering you, I’ll…I’ll clean off that rune.” He said. And Magnus’ chest swelled. He didn’t want Alec to walk out of his life again. He couldn’t let this happen. He had to tell him that he was completely and unnecessary fascinated and in total love and awe with him. He had to explain to him that it was a god-awful mistake to have thrust him out of his life – and one Magnus himself never ever wanted to do again. And here he was, in his very room with him, he’d already signalled his interest – all that he needed to do was respond to Alec’s advances. He stood up quickly, grabbing Alec’s wrist, spinning him around. Alec gave him a curious look as Magnus sucked in a breath. “Please, Alec…stay with me. Don’t…don’t leave me again.” He begged. Alec’s eyes softened, filling with humour and love. He softened under Magnus’ touch, and the warlock took the time to pull Alec against him, pressing his lips to his, his arms pulling against Alec’s waist, and the shadowhunter’s arms went around his neck and they locked together closely, totally involved with each other for the moment. They pulled apart, and Magnus bent his head down a bit to rest his forehead on Alec’s. “I love you.” He whispered. Alec smiled,

“I know. I love you too.”
