Y/N did not remember his past, nor who he was before, after he woke up from being dead for a very long time. A tiny sentient like drone called a Ghost which the Ghost's name was Glace, resurrected the confused Y/N, explaining everything that happened and that whoever he was before was wiped out from his memory
That was the least of his problems, he was resurrected into a world gone to hell, within a baron wasteland of dangers and mystery, years after the Dark Age; a dark time for Humanity following The Collapse and after the Traveler sacrificed itself by pushing back the Darkness and created the Ghosts
It took her a while to find her Guardian... Until she stumbled upon your dead body
The only thing that Y/N had to worry about was to survive, especially after encountering a bunch of space pirates known as The Fallen aka The Eliksni who were scavengers from another world which rumor was that the Traveler once blessed them with a Golden Age until their version of The Collapse happened called "The Whirlwind"
His first death was at the hands of an Eliksni Vandal shooting him through the back after Y/N thought he killed it
Upon being resurrected, it shocked Y/N to know he was practically immortal, only in areas where they weren't in a Darkness zone at least
Surviving on his own through the first few days was tough for Y/N, he kept dying and dying but kept getting back up... His spirit wouldn't give up
Throughout his journey... He would stumble upon a lone Hunter, wielding a particular weapon that had a white ace of spades engraving on the Hand Cannon, this particular Guardian helped him get back to what was called... The Last City and what it meant to be a Guardian...
Being a Guardian was a duty... A duty to protect, Y/N saw that and took it to heart, after learning what it meant to be a Lightbearer, he knew humanity needed protectors, and deep down... He thought this is was the Traveler wants, he knew Glace had a good feeling about choosing him and he took that oath to protect the innocent... As a Guardian of Earth
He was a Hunter like some others he met, one of those Hunter's he met was Cayde-6 who he became Best Friends with, who introduced him to many other Guardians and along with the Vanguard, however?
Enemies of Humanity stood as a threat, to the Last City on Earth and so they have for centuries before the Dark Age ended on a small note to build the Last City under the watchful eye of the Traveler.
The enemies of Humanity were the Fallen, but not only the Fallen
There is the Cabal, a military like force, came to conquer and wage war on our moons and planets
The Hive, an evil that cannot be reasoned with, nor talked to... Their witchcraft, rituals and ruthlessness makes them a dangerous foe
And finally... The Vex... Strange machines, looking to shape our existence to their own twisted ways of reality
Y/N hadn't seen many Vanguard leaders come and go but the positions were took by Zavala who was a Titan who would take the role as Commander and Titan Vanguard
Ikora Rey, a Warlock who would take the role as Warlock Vanguard
And finally... The one and only... Cayde-6
