I WAS taken a back by what they just askedd to me that I couldn't answer. I actually couldn't believe my ears. I mean, sure, people from this era are truly fake and thinks about nothing except game and power. I never expect much with these people, but I thought Lord Peros is a little different.
'Turns out he is a total jerk. A newbie villain that wanted to tarnish my name. Too bad for him, I'm a veteran in this kind of things,'
"No, he apologized to me and even begged me to accept his apology. He can't bring up the courage to bend his knees in front of so many people and so we went to somewhere quite," madiin na usal ko sa kanila habang nakatingin sa kani-kanilang mga mata.
Hindi agad nakasagot ang mga babae at lalaki at mukhang nagulat pa sa aking sinabi. Tinitimbang ng mga ito kung alin ang kanilang paniniwalaan. Ang isang Lord ba na mayroong posibilidad na siyang maging sunod na Duke, o ako na isang mababang uri lamang at rebeldeng babae?
I took my tea cup and sip on the tea when no one made a sound and is all deep in their thoughts. One of the Ladies broke the awkward silence by commenting how delicious the cookies that Lady Camille prepared. Everyone stupidly agreed and started eating the cookies and sipping their teas while avoiding my eyes and laughing nervously.
Everyone starts to open up a new topic and the topic about me and Lord Peros slowly faded, not until a familiar voice appeared.
"I'm so sorry I'm late, ladies and gentlemen. I hope I'm not too late, Lady Camille," magalang na lintaya ng lalaking kakarating lang. Ang lahat ay napatingin sa kaniya, bago tumingin sa akin.
Mabilis namang nagsitayuan ang lahat, maging ako ay yumuko sa harapan ni Lord Peros. Isa pa rin siyang anak ng duke, kung kaya't kinakailangang gumalang kami sa kaniya. Maging si Lady Camille ay nagbigay galang din.
"You're not late, Lord Peros. Apparently, you're actually just in time, please, have seat," magalang na sagot ni Lady Camille sa katanungan ni Lord Peros habang naka-yuko.
Matapos sabihin iyon ni Lady Camille ay masaya namang umupo si Lord Peros. Ngunit nanlaki ang mga mata nang lahat ng makita nitong umupo si Lord Peros sa aking tabi, at mayroon pang malaking ngiti sa labi.
Nang maka-upo na si Lord Peros ay sumunod naman kaming lahat. Ngunit kahit naka-upo na kami't halos lumipas na ang ilang minuto, na sa amin pa rin ang tingin ng lahat.
Hindi matigil sa kakadaldal si Lord Peros sa akin habang humihigop ng tsaa. Hindi ko naman gustong marinig ang kaniyang mga sinasabi kung kaya't hindi ko siya pinakikinggan, at umastang wala siya sa tabi ko. Galit pa rin ako sa kaniya dahil sa kasinungalingang sinabi niya sa akin noong welcoming banquet.
"Are you alright, Despina?" he asked out of the blue. Hindi agad ako nakasagot sa kaniyang katanungan sapagkat nagulat ako. Kanina lamang ay dada siya ng dada sa mga kababaihan at kalalakihang nasa paligid namin.
"I am," I answered. I didn't bother looking at him and just continued on drinking my tea while listening to the peoples conversation around me.
"What's your problem?" he asked again.
"Nothing," I answered nonchalantly. His face started to turn red and was about to ask me again when a man asked him first.
"Lord Peros, is it true that you begged forgiveness to Lady Despina?" The man asked with a smirk in his face. While he looked so excited to hear Lord Peros’ answer the other Lords and Ladies we're nervous and scared.
Mabilis na napatingin si Lord Peros sa lalaki at mayroong galit sa mukhang nagtanong, "What? Who told you that? Why would I begged forgiveness to Despina?"
"I thought you really hated her, Lord Peros. You kept on bullying her and picking up fights with her everytime. Shocking to hear that you begged forgiveness," naguguluuang lintaya ni Lady Camille. Binaling ni Lord Peros ang kaniyang paningin sa kaniya.
"Who told you that nonsense?" He asked again, angrily. Everyone looked at me with scared expression while Lady Camille and the brave Lord who asked him first both has smirks on their faces but kept hidden from Lord Peros.
"You said that, Despina?" galit na tanong niya sa akin. Hindi ko agad siya sinagot at inubos ko muna ang hawak kong tsaa bago ito inilagay sa mesa.
"I believe that's true, Lord Peros. I didn't made up things. I still remember how your eyes turns into a puppy eyes while you bend your knees in front of me and begged me to forgive you," madamdaming usal ko. Tumingin ako sa kaniya at nakita ang namumula niyang mukha nang marinig ang aking sagot at mga bulungan ng mga tao sa paligid.
"That's not what happened," galit na usal niya. I just shrugged my shoulder and stood up.
"I know. Serves you right for lying to me. Say good bye to your good reputation, bastard," bulong ko sa kaniya before walking and when I was about to get past him to go to Lady Camille he grabbed my hands and stopped me.
"How dare you tarnish my reputation, you lowly wild dog!" He shouted angrily at me and everyone was startled. Napatayo ang lahat sa kani-kanilang mga upuan at napa-atras. I don't know why but this might be a bloody fight if no one would stop me.
"Let go of my hand, Lord Peros. I don't want you catching a disease from a lowly wild dog given that you're a fancy cat that lived in a big mansion surrounded by guards," malamig na lintaya ko. Mas lalo itong nagalit sa aking sinabi at sasampalin na sana ako nang biglang nagsalita.
"What's with all the ruckus?" A man with a very familiar voice, asked. Natigil si Lord Peros sa kaniyang pagbabalak na sampalin ako at napatingin ang lahat sa lalaking dumating.
Everyone was stunned to see Duke Poviuor walking towards us with his personal assistant behind him. The ladies eyes instantly becomes heart shaped as they saw the charming serious look of the Duke.
"What are you doing here, Your Grace?" tanong ni Lord Peros kay Duke Poviuor na mayroong galit sa mukha at mahigpit na nakahawak sa aking palapulsuhan. I flinched because of the sudden grip and tried my best to get away from it without anyone noticing but I failed. Although, it seems like Duke Poviuor noticed it.
"I came because Lady Camille invited me, I didn't know my finacée would be here. Kindly get your hands away from her," malamig na lintaya nito at mabilis na hinila ako papunta sa kaniya and I instantly slammed right into his chest.
Everyone gasped at the Duke Poviuors’ words. It feels like a bomb that the Duke thrown at the ladies and their heart shaped eyes becomes a broken one.
"I Love to stay, Lady Camille, but I need to talk to my fiancée. Julius will be the one to watch my sister for me," usal ni Duke Poviuor kay Lady Camille. The Young Lady smiled at the Duke and bowed.
"Thank you so much for inviting me, Lady Camille. I'll be leaving first," magalang na usal ko kay Camille bago ako nagpahila kay Duke Poviuor palabas ng bahay ni Marquess Cartasiun.
"Take care of Lord Lulu and Lady Lala, Julius," utos ni Duke Poviuor sa kaniyang personal assistant bago kami tuluyang umalis. Hindi man lang niya pinakinggan ang inis na pagtutol ni Julius sa kaniyang pag-alis.
