We sit and wait for at least two hours.
Clay sniffles, making me turn away from the clock and to him.
He sits with his hands in his hair.

'Clay...'
he wipes his face.
'Hey, c'mere.'

He moves up, sitting next to me on the bed.
He carefully pulls me into his side.

'What's going through your mind?'
I rub his back a little as he quietly cries.
'You in the hospital again. And- and now for our baby. And last time....'
I pull him even closer.

'We're together.'
I start as my eyes tear up.
'We can do this together.'

The doctor walks in and stands at the end of my bed as Clay sits next to me.
'We can't say what happened with certainty. That's why I'm here to just warn you of the possibilities.'
I take a deep breath trying to calm down, as Clay holds my hand tightly.

'First option, nothing happened. Everything is fine, it was just your body reaction to stress related to the situation.'
I nod as I feel Clay let out a shaky breath.
'Second, there were complications, and the baby may have been hurt by what happened.
Third, you had a miscarriage.'

The last words is a slap in my face, and I see Clay turn pale at the possibility.
'Is there..... is there any chance you'll give us your idea?'
I dare to ask the question.

'I'd rather wait for a actual report with the answer.'
I nod, as I thought.

'I'll come back with results later, please get some rest.'
Clay and I thank the man.

'What do you think?
Clays voice is careful.

What do I think?
I don't know what I think,
But I hope everything is fine.
