I wiped my tears away as I ran, not knowing where I was headed.
Eventually I tracked down Dad with Malina and her friends and hitched a ride home with them.
As soon as I got home, I slammed my bedroom door shut and locked it, just in case. I blinked back tears as I texted my mom that I was home.
A few hours later, I heard the front door open with multiple shouts of "Melody!"
I wrapped myself tightly in my blanket as the door rattled.
"What do you want?!"
Tessa's muffled voice asked, "Are you okay? What happened?"
Anger boiled inside of me. "I'm fine!" I yelled.
The whispers then stopped, and I sighed in relief, removing my blanket. After I changed into my pajamas and brushed my teeth, I climbed back into bed. Trying my best to comfort my broken heart, I cried myself to sleep.
