Melody's pov.
"Are you ready?" Lucy fumbled with her brush as she combs her hair for the seventh time. Hermione and Ginny had already left for the Great Hall for breakfast, while Lucy and I were still in the girl's dormitory.
"Lucy?" She flinches, "Are you ready?" Taking a deep breath and fixing her black headband, Lucy nods.
"I think so...it's just..."
"What?" The younger Malfoy pulls a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear.
"My parents sent a letter last night...about me being put into Gryffindor. I am scared. I can't face Draco,"
I didn't realize it until now but, I forgot about how Draco might've reacted. I know he is a proud Slytherin. He doesn't like any other houses besides maybe Ravenclaw and not Gryffindor.
His whole family before him have been Slytherin so, that would make Lucy the first...in her family.
"Lucy, are you first Gryffindor in your family?" She hesitantly nods almost, ashamed.
"I am," She turns around to face the window, twirling around a strain of hair in her finger.
"And that's what terrifies me. On my mother's side of the family, also known as the 'Most Noble and Ancient House of Black'. Their cousin or second cousin, I don't know, were disowned by his family for not being sorted into Slytherin." I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
Are pureblood families really like this?
"He was the first Black to be a Gryffindor, although he wasn't disowned at first, he wasn't respected in the family. And then right before he had graduated Hogwarts, he was blown off the family tapestry." My eyes widen.
"Do you know his name?" Lucy shakes her head at me.
"No, all I know that his name started with an 'S' but after he graduated he was sent to Azkaban and his younger brother has killed, so the the Blackline end. Well, of course, except for the female line but, they can't hold family name."
Now that Lucy was explaining the black family, I remembered reading something about the Sacred 28. They were second or third on the list. The Sacred 28 has dwindled since but, I think there's about 25 or so.
"I'm terrified of what my father might say when I go home for the holidays but, I don't want to disappoint my mother." I raise an eyebrow.
"Why?" I've met Mr. Malfoy before, and I can say with complete honesty that he isn't the most pleasant person, but I never met Mrs. Malfoy. I wonder if she holds the same views as well. She must have if they're married and a member of the Black family.
"My mom is the youngest out of three sisters. People call them the Black sisters during their time at Hogwarts. All of them were in Slytherin and well respected. Then in the final years of Hogwarts things, changed."
Moving from my spot next to the vanity, I sit on Lucy's bed while she was next to her window.
"My aunt Bellatrix, the oldest, she was the definition of a death eater, pure-blood Supremus during Voldemort rain of terror. When he was defeated, she was sent to Azkaban," I gasped.
"The second oldest, Andromeda was is the complete opposite of Bellatrix. At first, she held they're pure-blooded beliefs until she met a muggle-born named Ted Tonks. She was disowned and blasted off the family tapestry after she graduated high school and married him. I don't know much about her because mother doesn't like to speak about her much but, I know they had a child," Lucy smiled.
"They had a daughter, she graduated a year before you started Hogwarts, Melody."
"I wish I could've met her," Lucy whispers almost an inaudibly.
"Then there is my mother. She played her cards right. She was able to make her parents happy, keep a pure-bloodline, and marry into an acceptable family. Plus there was a bonus, mum was in love with the person she was marrying, which is very hard to come by." Lucy sighs.
"That's one of my biggest fears because I'm apart of a 'noble' bloodline, I will have to be set in to arrange marriage but, I have no say in." She laughs, "Draco said that he will personally interrogate him beat up any boy that wants my hand in marriage that is unacceptable."
Draco is a good brother.
Suddenly, while I wasn't paying attention, I heard sniffling. Sitting up from my place on the bed, I go around towards Lucy to see her crying into her hands.
"Lucy? Is everything all right? Did something happen?" I asked her in a panic.
"What if he hates me a Melody?" Lucy rips her hands away from her face, slightly pushing your way.
"You should've seen him! When that stupid bloody blasted hat shouted out Gryffindor instead of Slytherin! He looked at me like I had betrayed him."
I made my way towards this sobbing girl holding her in my arms. She tried to fight her way out of my grip before eventually giving up and both of us falling to the ground.
"He'll hate me!"
No, no, he won't." I tried registering their young girl.
"How do you know that?" I took a moment to register the question as a padding Lucy's hair, soothing her cries.
"Because-because I am my sister. I have an older brother named Dudley, he's a nasty git, but I still love him. My mother and father despise me because I'm a witch, their muggle, and hate anything magical, but does that stop me from caring about them. No. It hurts, yeah but, I can't bring myself to hate them."
Lucy brought her head up.
"Hell, Draco called me a mudblood. I still worry about him!" My eyes started to sting as I blinked with a burning sensation.
"HE WHAT!" Lucy screamed in shock, pulling away from me standing up.
"When?" I freeze for a moment, not understanding her outburst.
"Before the end of the first-year, why?" I got it from on the ground.
"He shouldn't have done that!" I placed both hands on her shoulders.
"Lucy, calm down! It's fine,"
"No-no, it isn't! He can't do that, not to you! Not when I like-!" She pauses for a moment, "Not when I care about you! You never judged me and are my first friend, Melody. I don't want anyone to hurt you. I would've never told anyone this if I didn't trust them. I know we met not that long ago, but I trust you." Lucy's entire face goes red.
I didn't understand why she was blushing but, nonetheless, I still hugged her.
"Thank you,"
"For what?" Lucy tightens her grip around my waist.
"For trusting me." I feel as Lucy places her head in the crook of my neck and smiles.
After a few moments, I stop our embrace to see Lucy's face almost saddened by the action but quickly wiped it off.
"It looks like we completely missed breakfast. I don't want you getting to detention on your first day, now. Do we?" I gestured towards the clock as I grabbed Lucy's hand.
"Come on." As we left the dormitory, Lucy placed her free had on a beat red and heating cheeks.
"Yeah, I go wherever you go."
At that moment, without or even knowing, Lucy had found someone that she had but care about forever.
Someone that made her feel an emotion that so powerful and intense that she was afraid to let go of her hand holding hers.
What was Lucy feeling?

Sorry about not posting. I just got back to school and I haven't been really motivated to write, but I decided to do it today since I am two weeks late.

I just wanted to clear some stuff up real quick, the reason Lucy opened up to Melody so fast is because Melody is the first person that she never felt judged by.
•
With the last paragraph you can take that as you want, but this is going to be a storyline that I really want to explore but please remember this is a Draco love story.
