You watched from across the table as your friend, Ahin, giggled at her phone, a sparkle in her eye as she did so.
"What are you giggling at?"
"Jumin Han just messaged me." She grinned.
"Is that another one of those dating games you always play?"
"Yes." She answered shyly.
"I should have known." You shook your head, letting out a chuckle.
"Y/n, it's soooo fun."
"I'm sure it is."
"It's called Mystic Messenger. I'm obsessed with it."
"I have a boyfriend who's an idol. I think I'm good."
"That doesn't matter. This is just a game."
"Yeah. It's just a game." You repeated.
"It's fun. I highly recommend you trying it out. Look, you have conversations with them and you have the option to give different answers." She explained, showing you her phone screen. "Depending on which answers you give to which person, you'll end up on their route."
"Route?" You parroted.
"That just means that you'll end up pursuing a relationship with that person. You get different endings though. They all have a good and bad ending, 707's was so sad." She frowned.
"707? Is that a name for one of the characters?"
"Yes! His real name is Luciel. He's quite a character." She chuckled.
"So, how exactly is this game played, besides texting?"
"It's mostly just texting, though sometimes you get phone calls. You get pictures from the them too and collect them in an album. The only thing about the game I don't like is that you often get texts at 4 and 5 AM." She explained. "And if you miss them, you can use hourglasses to go back and participate in the chat."
"Oh no." You groaned. "You're actually making me curious about this game."
"Yes!" She squeaked, grabbing your hands excitedly. "Please download it. It'll be so much fun. Plus, it'll give you something to do while you wait for Wooyoung to come back from practice."
You chewed your lip in thought, mulling over the idea.
"I know you mentioned he has practice at least five days a week for long hours. This will be something to occupy your time." She added in an attempt to convince you to try out the game.
"Okay, fine. You make a good point. It'll give me something to do while Wooyoung is off doing idol things."
"Yes, yes, yes." She chanted enthusiastically.
Pulling your phone out, you opened the App Store and searched for this game Ahin spoke softly highly of and started downloading it, setting your phone on the table.
"I'm so happy you decided to try it out. You won't regret it. I guarantee it."
"I hope so. If it's not as great as you say it is, I'm deleting it immediately."
"I don't have to worry about that." Ahin grinned. "I know you'll love it."

Once the app had finished downloading, Ahin begged you to start the game so she could get your live reaction. You typed your name in and started the story.
"So I'm in this group chat with random people?"
"Yes." Ahin confirmed.
You hummed, watching the chats pop up on the screen. When you got the chance to choose a response, you tapped the one that you felt was the best answer.
Ahin watched with gleaming eyes from across the table, sipping on her drink as she did so. Once you finished the opening, you saved the game and set your phone down.
"So, what do you think so far?" She inquired.
"Not bad, actually. I shouldn't have judged it so much at first."
"I told you it's good."

You laid in bed drifting off to sleep when you heard the notification sound for Mystic Messenger go off. Your eyes snapped open and you grabbed your phone off the nightstand, checking to see if Wooyoung was asleep first. Once you were certain he wasn't awake, you opened up the app and checked the chatroom, reading each message that popped up. 707 was asking if you were awake, to which you replied, yes, because you hadn't got the chance to go to sleep yet thanks to the interruption.

Jumin Han
What are you doing still awake? You should sleep.

"I would if you'd quit texting me at 2 AM."  You grumbled under your breath.
You had only been playing the game for three days and it was taking over your life. You were missing chat rooms left and right, using up all your hourglasses, checking your phone 24/7, even answering calls from the RFA members at random times of the day. Despite that, you could still feel yourself becoming attached to the game and you weren't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Then again, you suppose the goal of the game is to get you hooked no matter how annoying the late night texts were and it seemed to be doing just that.

It was Thursday and Wooyoung didn't have a schedule, so he got to stay home and relax for the day, which you were over the moon about.
"I finally get to spend time with my baby." Wooyoung cooed, clinging to you.
You ran your fingers through his hair, letting out a hum of contentment. He nuzzled his cheek against your yours and pulled you closer, squeezing your tightly.
"What should we do?"
"Whatever you want. This is your day off." You told him.
"Let's watch a movie. I haven't got to watch any movies lately and there are a couple I'd like to watch."
"Sounds good to me."
"Let's order food too." He added. "Can't have a movie day without food."
"Right! You can pick."
Just then, your phone started to ring, catching you off guard. You picked it up off the coffee table, glancing at the screen.
"Oh. It's Ahin. You go ahead and order whatever you want, I'm gonna answer this call real quick." You told Wooyoung, excusing yourself from the room.

"Hello?"
"Y/n! What do you think of Mystic Messenger? Have you been playing it?"
"I have."
"Aaand?"
"I think I like it." You admitted. "But I hate getting messages while I'm trying to sleep. I've used almost all my hourglasses on chatrooms that have closed."
"I know. It's so frustrating."
"Why do they ask if I've slept and then get onto me for not sleeping? They're the ones who choose to text at 2 AM." You groaned out of slight frustration.
"Exactly. But it's still a fun game, isn't it?"
"It is." You admitted after a beat of silence.
"Do you know whose route you wanna go on?"
"Yes." You answered bashfully.
"Who?" She inquired.
"It's a secret."
Ahin let out a groan. "Come on. You can tell me."
"I'll tell you when I get on his route. If I get on his route, that is. I gotta go now. Wooyoung has a day off and we were about to watch a movie."
"Oh. Sorry for disturbing you. Have fun with your pookie." She sang before hanging up.
You cringed slightly at the mushy pet name but couldn't hold back the faint smile pulling at your lips.
"I ordered pizza with our favorite toppings." Wooyoung announced when you joined him in the living room again.
"My mouth is watering just thinking about it."

Wooyoung picked out a movie, but you didn't start watching it just yet, you both decided to wait until the pizza arrived before starting.
It was a short twenty minute wait spent snuggled on the couch, letting Wooyoung lay all over you and smother you in kisses—and bites.
"Ow!" You yelped when he bit your neck.
He only giggled, that all-too-familiar squeaky laughter filling your ears.
"What was that for?"
"I'm showing my affection."
You rolled your eyes. "If you're gonna do that at least make it feel good."
A smirk settled onto his lips as he nuzzled the tip of his nose below your ear.
"That can be arranged." He murmured, his voice taking on a sultry lilt.
Once his lips made contact with your skin, your entire body relaxed as you practically allowed yourself to be putty in Wooyoung's hands. He pressed warm, open-mouthed kisses under your ear all the way down to the base of your neck, lightly nipping at the skin every so often. His hand that had been planted firmly on your hip slid lower to the bend of your knee, pulling it up to wrap around his waist, his fingers moving up to grab and grope at your thigh.
"Wooyoung." You called out hoarsely.
He pulled away, gazing down at you with droopy eyelids. "What is it, darling?"
"Kiss me." You grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him down to your lips.
He immediately hummed against your mouth, tilting his head to deepen the kiss. Wooyoung's kisses always left you breathless and feeling lightheaded, sent into a daze by the way he kissed you so feverishly, turning your mind to mush.
The doorbell buzzed, signaling that the pizza had arrived, ultimately putting an end to your steamy make out on the couch.
You frowned when Wooyoung pulled away.
"No need to be upset." He grinned, running his thumb across your bottom lip. "We can always continue later."
Pushing himself off you, he went to answer the door, bringing back a fresh out of the oven pizza, the mouthwatering scent trailing through the air.

You put your phone on silent so any notifications from Mystic Messenger wouldn't disrupt your time with Wooyoung, but found yourself checking your device periodically throughout the movie.
"What are you doing?" He asked you.
"Nothing." You said, not wanting to admit that you had become addicted to an otome dating game.
He seemed to let it go because he turned his attention back to the TV, muttering a small, "Okay."
You forced yourself to keep your hands off your phone for the rest of the movie, hoping you wouldn't miss a chatroom, which thankfully you didn't. After almost getting caught, you made sure to be less conspicuous about your new love for Mystic Messenger while Wooyoung was around.

You sat on the couch, giggling as Zen sent a picture to the group chat. You had the chance to compliment him or diss him and, of course, you complimented him. Naturally, Jahee had something to say about it.

"She's always getting in my way." You grumbled under your breath, rolling your eyes.
A message from Zen popped up just a second later. He was taking up for you, saying he loves the compliments and he doesn't mind. You let out an excited giggle, not noticing Wooyoung's presence until he cleared his throat.
You looked up at him, startled by his presence.
"Oh. Hi babe."
"Hey. What are you doing?"
"Just playing around on my phone." You shrugged, setting it aside. "I didn't know you were back from practice already."
"Actually, we practiced our usual amount of time." He answered rather flatly.
"Really? Time must have gotten away from me." You muttered, getting up off the couch. "How was practice?"
"Good. I'm kind of tired, though. I think I'm gonna go shower and lie down."
"Oh, okay."
You watched as he stepped out of the room, noticing he wasn't as chipper as usual.

A few days passed and you hadn't been able to spend much time with Wooyoung. Him and the boys were on a group competition show and he was either at practice or filming the program. You had been watching every episode and it was clear to you that the boys are putting everything into their performances, you can't even begin to imagine how tired Wooyoung must be.

You heard the sound of the front door opening, prompting you to get up and go to the foyer. Wooyoung stepped through the front door, his face pale and eyes looking distant. Your worried gaze drifted to the many pain patches on his arm and shoulder.
"Are you okay, love?" You asked, walking up to him and gently placing your hands on his shoulders.
"I'm hurting everywhere, but I'm fine." He huffed. "We're practicing for a huge performance and I'm putting my all into it."
"I'm sure you are. You've been working really hard. I've watched all of your performances so far. How about you go get a shower and I'll start making your favorite meal."
You could see his eyes sparkle. "Are you sure?"
"Absolutely. You just go relax."
"Thanks, doll."
He gave you a kiss on your cheek before shuffling out of the room. While he headed to the shower, you went off to the kitchen to get started on dinner.

Wooyoung stepped out of the bathroom, using the towel to dry his two-toned hair. His muscles were so sore he couldn't be bothered to put a shirt on, putting on sweatpants was hard enough. Tossing his towel into the hamper, he meandered into the living room.
He heard a notification sound which caught his attention, his eyes immediately landing on your phone sitting on the arm of the couch. He gave a wary glance around the corner and back at your phone, unsure of wether to check the notification or not. He had caught you giggling at something a few days ago and on movie night you were checking your phone a lot which raised some suspicion. He couldn't help but wonder what it was that had you so preoccupied.
Giving one last glance towards the kitchen, he hurried over and snatched your phone off the arm of the couch, glancing at the screen. Some notification from a weird messaging app had popped up causing his brows to furrow.

Zen
I had a photoshoot today. I couldn't get you off my mind.

She's been talking to a guy?
"A photoshoot?" He whispered. "Is he famous?" He then let out a huff. "There's no way he's more famous than me."
Wooyoung felt a tinge of jealousy as he thought about his Y/n texting another man. With your phone still in his hand, he stalked into the kitchen where you were busy boiling noodles for ramen. He could have waited until later to address this issue, but he wanted answers.
You glanced up at him when he approached you. "What are you doing in here? You should go lie down."
"Who's Zen?" He asked, holding up your phone.

Your eyes widened as you practically felt the blood drain from your face. You reached out and snatched your phone from him.
"Well? Who is he?" Wooyoung stood with his arms crossed expectantly.
"He's... a character from an ototme game." You answered, your head hanging low in embarrassment.
"I don't believe you."
You chewed your lip anxiously and opened up the game, showing it to him.
"Ahin is obsessed with this game and she talked me into downloading it. Now, I'm kind of obsessed too."
When you didn't get a response, you looked up at Wooyoung who seemed relived.
"So it's just a game?"
"Yes." You confirmed.
He suddenly began to pout. "Why have a pretend boyfriend when you have me right here?"
"Aw." You cooed, your face softening as you reached out to cup his cheeks. "I only downloaded it because Ahin talked so much about it. Plus, it was something for me to do while you're at practice."
"It's not just something you do while I'm gone. I catch you checking your phone a lot."
"That's because chatrooms open at random times and if I miss one, I have to use my hourglasses to reopen the chatroom." You explained.
"Oh. Well, I'm glad you weren't talking to another guy."
"I would never. You should know that."
You dropped your hands from his cheeks and turned back to the stove to check the noodles. Wooyoung wrapped his arms around you from behind, holding you closely.
"I'm sorry for not trusting you."
"It's fine. I should have told you what I was really up to. I was just embarrassed." You muttered.
Wooyoung then started placing kisses along the side of your face and down your neck, making you giggle.
"Hang on a second, babe. I have to finish dinner."
He let out a sigh and reluctantly stepped away, allowing you to finish the ramen. It wasn't anything fancy though you did cook some meat and prepared some side dishes to go with it.

You made sure the dish looked absolutely perfect, dropping scallions on top of the steaming noodles, making it look like a picture from a cook book or a food blog.
"Alright." You sighed, dusting your hands off. "All done."
Wooyoung snatched his bowl up and carried it to the dining room table, not able to wait any longer.
"This looks so good, Y/n." He bragged.
"Hopefully it tastes good too."
By that point, Wooyoung had already shoved a large bite of noodles into his mouth.
"Mmm!" He hummed in satisfaction and gave a thumbs up of approval.

After dinner, you offered to put more pain patches on Wooyoung.
"Can you put one on my right shoulder blade?"
"Right here?" You touched the spot on his bare back.
"Yes, please."
Peeling the plastic off the back of the pain patch, you stuck it on his shoulder blade, then applied smaller ones along his arm wherever he pointed.
"Feel better?" You inquired, brushing his hair back and placing a gentle kiss on his temple.
"Yes. Thank you."
"I know you're on a competition show and that you're wanting to put all your energy into your performances, but please don't overwork yourself."
"I know, sweetheart. I promise. I'm being careful."
"Good. You'd better be."
He sat up and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you back, the both of you collapsing on the bed, holding each other close.
"You know what would really make me feel better?" He whispered, his fingers playing with the hem of your shirt, tracing shapes on your hip.
"What?"
"Kisses."
"That can be arranged." You grinned, grabbing his face and pulling him towards your lips.
