"Hi!" Hanna said happily when she opened the door and saw me and Harry standing in the doorway.
"Hey," I grinned as she pulled me in for a hug. "How are you?"
"I'm good, how are you?" she said as she pulled back, glancing once at Harry.
"We're good." I said, finally meaning it.
She was wearing a blue tee with skinny jeans and black Vans, her blonde hair gathered up in a messy bun. She looked so cute and pretty this way, with light make up on and blue eyes shining.
"Come in, it's really cold outside." she grimaced and stepped to the side to let us walk in.
Harry huffed and rolled his eyes as he walked in before me. He was wearing his white tee and Hanna was literally in pure shock as she stared at him. She gave me a questioning look as I stepped into the house.
"Don't ask me, he said cold doesn't affect him at all." I shrugged innocently.
She shook her head and closed the door, a cheeky grin on her face. "Come on, Niall's in the living room."
We all stepped into the living room to find Niall sitting on the couch with a beer in his hand and his phome in the other as he kept staring at his phonescreen.
"Don't worry about us Niall, we don't want anything." I teased.
He looked up at us and a smile immidiately appeared on his lips. He chuckled at my words and then his eyes landed on Harry. I saw coldness flashing behind his eyes and his smile faded a little at the sight of him. I tried to ignore the feeling of anger inside of me, since both of them were my closest friends and I didn't want to say something bad to any of them.
"Hey, nice to see you here." he said, his eyes fixing on me.
"What do you want to drink?" Hannah asked us.
"Umm, we were at the cafeteria only 10 minutes ago so we're fine." I assured, nodding once.
"You sure?" Hannah asked.
"Yeah." I smiled and walked over the couch.
Niall grinned as I sat next to him, his blue eyes shining with happiness. I chuckled when he wrapped an arm around my shoulders and kissed my hair, his friendly gesture making it feel like home.
Harry sat next to me, his eyes staring at me and Niall intently. He placed his hand on my thigh and a wave of warmth wash through me. It was so beautifully amazing how his touch had a much different affect on me than any other touch.
Niall pulled away his arm and typed something on his phone, wich was the perfect time for Harry to wrap his own arm around me and hold me closer to him. I smiled and glanced up at him, knowing that he was jealous. Harry smirked and kissed my forehead, his kiss making my heart race.
"I just got a message from Liam." Niall said, making the smile on my lips quickly dissapear.
Harry's expression turned to shocked too and we both turned to give Niall a bewildered look. "Sorry, what?" I asked.
"Liam." Niall glanced at me before refocusing on his phone. "The best lad I ever met."
"L-Liam huh?" I asked nervously. I looked at Harry and he shrugged, he was as confused as me. I looked back at Niall. "What does he look like?"
"He has brown hair and-wait, why are you asking?" He furrowed his brows as he looked at me.
"Nothing I..I just-there's this guy called Liam that I met some weeks ago." I said, shaking my hands.
"Huh, he might be the same guy." Niall smirked.
"Yeah," I smiled awkwardly.
"Nice." he nodded before fixing his gaze back on his phone.
"What if it's the same guy?" I whispered to Harry.
"I'll compel him." he murmured simply to my ear.
"Okay." I said, feeling the unease in the pit of my stomach slowly fading away.
"Okay so," Hannah appeared in the living room with a cup in her hands. "We decided to watch a movie, all together, and then probably go out." she said as she sat down on the couch next to ours.
"Where exactly?" Harry asked, his voice deeper.
"To the club, probably." Hannah replied before taking a sip.
"Nah, we're not going." Harry refused and my eyes widened.
I turned my head and gave him a weird look. "Wait, what?"
"What?" he raised and let his shoulders fall.
"What are you saying? Of course we're going." I said, furrowing my brows.
"No, we're not." Harry argued boldly.
"Yes we are. Where's the problem?"
"Did you forget what happened last night and today, Rebecca? Or do I have to remind you?" he said, a hint of sarcasm hidden behind his voice.
"That doesn't mean that I'm not going out to have fun, Harry." I claimed, gaining a surprised look by him.
"Whoa, guys, what's wrong? What are you talking about?" Niall interrupted.
Harry leaned back to look at him. "Mind your own damn business." he spit before focusing on me again.
"Okay dude, no need to be that upset." Niall huffed.
"We are not going." Harry said slowly, eyes burning through mine.
"Yes, we are." I said stubbornly.
"No. We're not." he clenched his teeth.
"Harry, I'm going, okay? If you don't want to come with me, it's fine, I don't have a problem with that." I said and looked away, avoiding his gaze.
"So, are you coming or not?" Hannah asked unsure, confusion appearing on her features.
"Yes." I nodded, folding my hands on my lap.
"Wait, Rebecca you're coming to work tonight with me." Niall reminded me.
My smile faded. Damn, I forgot about that. "You're right." I sighed, seeing from the corner of my eye Harry smirking proudly. I ignored him and looked at Hannah. "Looks like we're not coming."
"Great." Hannah grimaced. There was a knock on the door and she quickly stood up. "Oh, that must be Liam." she said as she walked out of the room.
I felt Harry's face coming closer to my ear. "You know, sometimes it pisses me off that I can't compel you." he growled.
"Why not?"
"Because it's you, Rebecca. And there's no way I'm compelling you for anything." he murmured before pulling away.
I smiled, knowing that Harry doesn't want to compel me at all costs. He's so protective and it makes me feel safe, but it sometimes makes me feel frustrated too, because he simply wants me to stay at home all day and never leave the house.
"Hey bro," Niall turned his head to greet the person that came in.
Harry and I turned our heads to look over at Liam. He had a bright smile on his lips that quickly faded when his eyes landed on me and Harry. His lips turned into an 'o' shape and his eyes widened.
"You? Here?" he asked, surprise written all over his features.
"Hi?" I said awkwardly, smiling at him.
Hannah appeared next to Liam with a big grin plastered on her face. She looked over at the three of us on the couch before patting once Liam's shoulder.
"Take a seat, do you want something to drink?" she said sweetly.
Hannah looked so flawless and kind. She was the perfect girl for Niall and I was glad, but of course I was still holdimg shields. It's not that I don't trust her, I just want to test some things while we're going to hang out all together before I reach the final desicion about her.
"Ahh, a beer maybe?" Liam scratched the back of his neck and raised his brows as he looked at her.
"Sure." she smiled and quickly dissapeared from the room.
"Yo mate, I have some things to show you, come here." Niall said, nodding once for Liam to come and sit next to him.
Liam nodded and walked over the couch before taking a seat next to Niall and me. He was in the middle and Harry tightened his grip around me. Liam leaned closer to Niall as he stared at whatever Niall was showing him at his phone.
Liam looked extremely handsome, I had to say. He was wearing black jeans, a grey sweater and a black leather jacket that made him look hot. His hair was perfectly styled and his cologne was strong that immidiately hit my nose.
"Do you think he's going to say anything?" Harry mumbled next to my ear, keeping his voice low.
I shrugged, not sure of what to think. "Dunno,"
"Hmm." Harry hummed.
"Bro, there's no way she's here." Liam argued.
"But look at the wall behind her. Isn't this the same wall we saw at the cafeteria in the corner?" Niall said, pointing at his phonescreen as his eyes widened.
"Niall, she's not here. She left a week ago and she'll come for a visit at Christmas. Now chill." Liam said firmly before leaning back on the couch.
Niall huffed. "I'm sure it's the same wall though."
Liam rolled his eyes and looked at me and Harry. "How's everything going?" he asked, his tone kind.
"Good, how is Ari?" I asked, the same odd feeling of guilt appearing in my stomach.
"She's better now. She'll come and visit us next year." Liam said, moving his hands.
"Nice." I said, not knowing what else to say really.
"I thought you left San Diego about a month ago?" Liam asked, bringing a lump to my throat.
"We never left, we decided to stay here for a little while. What about you, mate? Thought you graduate at NYU?" Harry sarcastically said.
Liam gave Harry a weird look. "It's Saturday, I'm leaving for New York on Monday morning again." he said in a way as if it's obvious.
"How is it in New York?" I asked with a smile.
"Awesome," he let a light laugh.
"Okay, the girls called and said they're probably not coming, but don't worry, we'll see them at the club tonight." Hannah said when she appeared again and walked across the room to hand the beer to Liam.
"The girls?" I asked.
"My best friends-you're so gonna like them!" she grinned.
"Yeah, they're really nice girls." Liam agreed before taking a sip from his beer.
"Especially Spencer, she promised she will always helps me during a math test-if I take her to a football game with me next time." Niall snickered.
"Wait," Liam gave Niall a bewildered look. "Spencer watches football games?" he asked, his expression turned to surprised.
"Yeah, and she's pretty good with remembering scores!" Niall said, his grin grewing bigger with each word.
"Wow." Liam said, eyes widening.
"I know right!" Niall laughed, shaking his head and eyes now staring back at his phone.
"I know my friends are the best, okay? Now pick a movie." Hannah said, rolling her eyes.
"Comedy?" Niall suggested, looking up at the 4 of us.
"No." Harry answered flatly.
"Okay," Liam said slowly, staring down at his beer. "What about Adventure?"
"Nuh-uh, not interested." Niall shook his head.
"Yeah, I'm not in a mood to watch someone surviving in a island for 4 years and stuff." Hannah said and sat down on the couch next to ours.
"What about horror?" Harry suddenly spoke.
We all turned our gaze on him, my brows furrowed as I studied his face. He seemed so relaxed yet bored, but after what he asked a smirk was making its appearance on his lips.
"Oh yes!" Hannah hissed. "I'm in!" she said, too excited with watching horror movies.
"Me too." Liam agreed.
"B-but it's still 2:47 p.m." I stammered, not looking away from Harry who stared at me with the same familiar smirk.
"So?" Harry huffed. "Doesn't matter, we all want to watch a horror movie, right guys?" he looked at them.
"Yeah," Niall answered.
"Of course we do." Hannah said in a way as if it's obvious.
"Unless Rebecca's scared." Harry said, my eyes widening.
"Sorry, what?" I said, feeling slightly annoyed.
"You're the only one that doesn't agree with us. What's wrong hun, scared of a little blood?" he teased, but it was more of a mock to me.
I clenched my jaw, my palms fisting on my sides. Was he kidding me? How could he tease me with such a subject? Or even mock me? Was Harry out of his mind? Probably.
"You and I both know that I'm really used to blood for the past month, right Harry?" I shot, narrowing my eyes at him.
His smirk dissapeared and I saw a hint of hurt and anger flashing behind his pale green eyes. I didn't mind saying such thing to him, since after everything that happened he has no right to joke about it, especially since a lot of those things related to killing my best friends. Needless to mention that he has hurt me a lot of times and yes, I know it was all Louis' 'fault', but it still wasn't funny.
Harry's eyes were now cold as they stared back at me. I saw so many thoughts running in his head behind that green colour in his eyes, so many mixed emotions. He was frustrated though, I could tell. But that didn't mean that I was going to back off, since he was the one that found it amusing joking about blood that literally reminded me so mamy terrible memories of the past month.
"I'm gonna order pizza," Niall said slowly, wanting to make the tension dissapear. "Do you want anything else? Rebecca?" he asked me because he knew that by this way he would reach his goal.
"No." I answered flatly, not breaking eye contact with Harry. "I'm not hungry at all." I said and stood up, jerking away Harry's arm. "Where's the bathroom?" I asked Hannah.
"Upstairs, first door on your left." Hannah said after swallowing down her tea.
I nodded sharply and left the room in a quick pace, my feet carrying me upstairs and to the bathroom as tears threatened to form in my eyes. My heart sinked slightly, but the pain was still strong enough to make the tears appear.
I closed the door behind me and bent over the sink, taking some deep breaths to calm myself down as i stared at my reflection through the mirror.
The dull ache in my heart got worse and I squeezed my eyes shut as the memory of Harry smashing Sarah's skull with that rock flashed behind my eyes. Sobs quickly left past my lips and I covered my mouth with my hand, since I knew Harry could hear me from downstairs.
How could he say such thing? How could he joke around about me not standing blood when he knows what I've been through? Why did he have to ruin everything?
The day started so great, so great. We were teasing and hugging each other in the morning, okay then I was attacked by a demon but we got over him, and now we were ready to have fun with the rest of the guys and he does this?
The door swung open and I turned in my spot, staring with pure shock at the guy that stood in the doorway with guilty green eyes. My mouth was agape as we stared at each other for a couple of seconds before he stepped in and closed the door behind him.
"Harry-,"
"Listen to me first and then you can yell at me as much as you want to." he cut me off, taking off his beanie.
I crossed my arms and looked around, biting my lower lip to hold back the sobs. Harry took a step forward, his eyes studying me. I looked up at him and my breath hitched when I saw the sadness covering his features.
"Rebecca, listen to me." he said softly.
His tone was so gentle and heartbreaking that my entire body felt weak under his pleading gaze. I nodded and looked down, blinking the tears away since I didn't want to cry.
"Thank you." he sighed and took another step forward, erasing the distance between us and quickly wrapping his arms around me to bring me to his chest and hold me close.
