"Russland, what is this." Germany asked after coming home from a few errands. he had just opened the front door to their living room, taken off his shoes when he realised that the couch was gone. Along with the little table and the TV.
Suddenly he had panicked that there was a robbery and was about to run and find help when his boyfriend came out from the kitchen. The table and couch were actually safe, they were just pushed back to the kitchen or in the TV's case against the wall.
"Nothing much, дорогой(1)." Russia replied in a sing song manner. He was holding an old fashioned radio in his hands, putting it against the wall next to the TV.
He pressed a few buttons, and some jazzy, fast beat song ran out of the speakers. Germany vaguely remembered the tune, Russia had played it before. It was call the Sudarushka, he believed.
Russia was now standing in front of him, arms outstretched in a ballroom style fashion. A stupid grin was on his face, and between it a blood red rose was wedged between his teeth.
"Russland no. I can't dance!" Germany exclaimed, crossing his arms over his chest. "I always step on people's feet!!"
"Well, now it's just the two of us, is it not?" Russia smirked, the rose balancing on his lips in a very attractive way, Germany admitted in his mind. He stepped forward, gently grabbing Germany's hands into his and placing one on his shoulder. "Don't worry, we've already done this one before, you remember, right sweetheart?"
Germany huffed, but his hand remained on Russia's shoulder and his other hand gripped onto Russia's own outstretched hand. Together, they started moving to the beat of the song. Germany kept staring down at his feet, not trusting them to mess up and going haywire. But they didn't, for now. At least this song was familiar, and he could roughly remember where the dance moves were going.
The song ended fast, Russia lifting up his outstretched hand above his head to twirl Germany around, and then dipped him. Germany gasped, finally looking into Russia's eyes. "Why do I always have to be the female everytime we dance?" He joked, straightening up and adjusting his askew glasses. Russia laughed, taking the rose out from between his teeth and giving it to Germany like a gentleman.
"Well, unless you want to lead, моя любовь(2)?" He said coyly, tucking the red rose into Germany's breast pocket. Germany blushed, and murmured a no.
Russia continued grinning, and tapped the next button on the radio with the tip of his foot. Slow, more classical ballroom dancing music wafted through the living room. Russia continued holding Germany's hand in a classic ballroom pose, his left hand was snaking behind, resting on the small waist. He slyly gave a small, teasing squeeze, feeling the soft skin beneath the shirt.
Germany sighed, letting the hand stay on his waist, and repositioned his own hand on Russia's shoulder. The new song was not familiar to him at all, but at least it was simple. It was a normal 4/4 beat, meaning this type of song didn't require much footwork, only gentle swaying and some small turns.
The couple moved their hips in synch, swaying to the slow music. Letting the music flow through him, Russia closed his eyes, sighing in bliss. The cool touch pressed along his hand and on his shoulder was so comforting, reminding him that he wasn't alone. He could feel the small breaths coming from his shorter partner, and the little touchs when their hips brushed against each other.
Germany started to smile. This was actually kind of nice, he thought. Slowly, his glance left his feet, and he relaxed more into the dance. The music was soothing and perfect for the mood currently in the living room. Feeling rather bold, he let his head rest on Russia's chest, his cheek pressed against the firm muscles and listening to the strong heartbeat.
Russia nearly missed a breath when he felt a warm cheek on his chest, and opened his eyes. He could see the calm sereness on his boyfriend's face, how relaxed and at peace his was. Inside, Russia was too. So he closed his eyes once more, and let his chin rest gently on top of Germany's head.
The song seemed to last forever, but actually it was only 5 minutes. They slowed to a stop as the last note of the song ended, and reopened the eyes.
"That was nice. Really nice." Germany say softly, as if afraid to break the serene and perfect mood.
"Hmm." Russia hummed in agreement, looking down at Germany with gentle, half lidded eyes. Their lips met automatically, warm and cool mixing in harmony.
"Should we do this more often then, next time?" Russia mumbled after they broke apart. "Ja(3)."
They continued dancing, even though there was no music. The music was in their hearts, as they continued swaying in the silent music together. They looked into each others eyes now, hands and fingers intertwining. It was absolutely perfect.
