I sat up on the bed with my heart racing against my ribs, sweat covering my forehead. My vision is still blurry and since it was dark, my eyes needed a few seconds to adjust in the darkness. I breathed heavily and placed my palm on my chest, making sure my heart won't be ripped out.
"Rebecca?" his soft voice said, making my brows to fall.
I turned my head to be greeted by a very tired and stressed Harry. His curles were messy and pushed back, the only source of light into the room was the moonlight that came through the big windows. I realized I was still in the hotel room, but there was no blood on the walls, the ceiling or everywhere else. It was clean and everything was in place.
"D-did I...die?" I whispered shivering.
"Shh," he brought his index finger on my lips. "You need to rest." he said calmly.
"How? When did you-"
"Rebecca, you need to rest. Just sleep, okay?" he said, placing his hands on my shoulders and gently pressing me down on the matress.
"O-okay." I nodded and emmidiately berated myself inside my head since my movement caused me headache.
He sighed heavily and stood up but came to a halt once I grabbed weakly his hand. He looked down at my hand and then to my face, brows furrowed.
"What's wrong?" he asked confused.
"Can you...please, stay? Please?" I begged, tears stinging into my eyes.
Harry pressed his lips in a tight line and gave me a sad look, even though I saw hope in his eyes. I knew that it was really weird asking for Harry to stay with me in bed, but after what I've been through? There was no way I would stay alone in here again. I needed Harry around. I needed to feel safe.
"Rebecca, you said you don't want to be in bed with me.." he said awkwardly, cheeks blushing.
"I know..I'm s-sorry." I apologized, tears strolling down my cheeks. "But please Harry, I really need you."
His eyebrows raised and his eyes widened by my words. To be honest, I didn't regret it at all for saying that I needed him because it was true. And after what happened to me, all I wanted was him next to me, so I could be sure he was okay.
Yes, after what I've been through, Harry's state was much more important to me.
Call me an idiot, but those feelings deep inside me can't change the fact that I do care for him.
He sighed and ran his free hand through his messy curls before nodding and shaking his hand, motioning for me to scoot further.
I used enough power and did as he wanted, giving enough space for him. He lied next to me, the matress pinned down because of his weight. His arm was brushing against mine and his skin was cold, wich only soothed my heated one.
"You're cold." I mumbled and he glanced down at me.
"Hmm?" he hummed before realizing what I said. "Oh yeah, and you're burning." he said, his cold palm reaching for my forehead.
I closed my eyes and relaxed under his cold, soothing touch. I loved the way my heart fluttered when I could feel his skin against my own and how magically everything diminished around me.
"What happened?" I asked in a small voice.
He took a deep breath and pulled away his hand, sending a wave of dissapointment wash through me. What surprised me though, was when he took my small hand in his large one, entwining our fingers.
"I woke up in the middle of the forest." he started, shocking me. "I emmidiately understood it was all Louis' fault. He wanted me to go back to him, because we've been in the city for almost a week now."
"How did he do that?" I asked confused, resting my head against his shoulder.
"He-uhh, he just made me sleepwalk over there. I had no clue what was going on and if I knew this was going to happen I would never fall asleep."
"When did you get back? Did you leave from there without him keeping you back?"
"The second I woke up the first thing I thought about was you Rebecca," he said, making me suck in a breath. He was thinking of me? He cared for me? "I was running like mad through the woods and as crazy as it sounds the forest seemed so unknown and strange to me. I've been in these woods for 77 years, I know every tree and rock, yet it felt so unfamiliar to me."
"Louis did it." I said firmly, bringing my other hand on top of Harry's that was holding mine.
"I know. He made it seem like a labyrinth, so I couldn't leave and come back to you. I knew he was attacking to you because-" he stopped himself, sighing heavily.
I frowned and glanced up at him to find him having his eyes shut closed, a pain expression appearing in his features.
"I could feel you crying," he whispered, making my heart to sink.
My tears soaked his sleeve of his tee but none of us seemed to care. I wiped mt tears away with my free hand and looked at him with my lower lip trembling. He felt me crying..
"How's that even possible?" I questioned, tightening slightly my grip on his hand.
"I don't know." he answered, opening his eyes to look down at me. "I just..I could hear you screaming. I could hear your voice screaming my name." his thumb grazed the back of my hand.
"Really?" I asked quietly, furrowing my brows.
"Yes. I was running for you. I was coming to get you. But I was late and.." he trailed off, giving me another pained look that made my heart break.
"Harry.." I whispered, shaking my head slowly.
"No, Rebecca. I was late. He had already hurt you so..violently, I myself freaked out when I got in here and saw you unconscious on the floor." he said, his voice strong and gaze intense.
"But he made you sleepwalk to the forest. You didn't know what you were doing. It's not your fault."
"It doesn't matter if I didn't know what I was doing. I should've come faster. I should've been here to protect you, Rebecca." he surprised me by saying.
My heart fluttered. "What did you say?" I shifted my body on my elbow, staring down at him.
His piercing eyes burned through mine, their beautiful green colour making me feel weak. He wanted to be here to protect me. He does care.
"I-I told you I wouldn't hurt you anymore and the thought of Louis violenting you only made me angry as fuck." he said, squeezing my hand a little. "For a moment when I stepped in here and saw you like that...I..I though I lost you." he said, his cheeks blushing a little.
My heart raced and I had goosebumps. He thought he had lost me? That means that...he cares for me. He wants me to be here, with him. My entire body heat up as I stared down at him, my lips forming into a small smile.
"You were scared, Harry?" I asked in a teasing tone.
He clenched his jaw. "I'm not afraid of anything. I think I already told you that." he smirked.
"Then why did you think you had lost me if you didn't feel slightly scared and worried about me?" I raised a brow.
He cleared his throat and looked away. I bit my lower lip, suffocating a laugh that wanted to escape.
"I didn't." he argued and I chuckled.
"Yeah right. I'm not buying it, Styles." I teased.
He seemed pissed off. "I don't care."
"Sure." I shrugged. "That's why if I die you won't care any less." I said and his eyes snapped to look at me.
"What did you say?" he asked in an angry voice.
I gulped. Shit. He's angry now.
"You said you don't care." I mumbled, looking at him scared.
I was suddenly on my back and Harry was on top of me, his body hovering over mine. I sucked in a breath as his face was only inches away from mine and his hot breath was crashing against my lips. His long messy curly locks were falling on my face, tickling me.
"I do care about you, Rebecca. More than you could think."
