Silence.

That's all I've heard for the past few weeks without anyone in my home.

All of Thomas' stuff is gone. Now what's left is my clothing and my empty soul.

He took the bedsheets and comforters. He didn't leave anything that was even thought of as his.

He took my favorite shampoo from the shower, leaving only some body wash that was almost empty.

"Laf, this is getting depressing," Peggy pointed out, watching me as I stayed curled up in the only blanket I had left, laying on an empty bed that had no sheets. "You should get up. Let's go out and do something."

"Non," I murmur, closing my eyes. "Je suis bon ici." ("I am good here").

John carefully sat down on the bed. "Laf, I know you're upset, but getting out of bed and adventuring the world would be good for you."

"Plus work is lost without you," Peggy whispers, sitting down next to John. "Aaron misses you like crazy and Samuel is wondering why some of the plants are dying, especially the pink roses, which are your favorite."

"They were my favorite because they were Thomas' favorite," I point out, opening my eyes to look over at my two friends. "Merci, mais je ne veux pas d'aide." ("Thank you, but I do not want help").

Silence was heard throughout the room as I looked away from them. I didn't want to go out to the world. I wanted to stay in my little cocoon all day and keep out of the life I began to live. "Can I invite someone over?" John asked.

Slowly, I nodded. I watched as John left and Peggy followed, confusion written on her face.

"Gilbert?"

I sat up quickly and looked over at the door to see George Washington standing there, his eyes holding some emotion I couldn't read. "Uh, Mister Washington, sir," I look at him, my face becoming hot because of embarrassment of how I probably look right now. "What are you doing around here?"

"Please, call me George," he tells me, going over to me and sitting next to me on the bed. "I'm here to help you feel better."

John knew of my little crush I had on Washington a while ago, before I dated Thomas Jefferson. I'm guessing I either got over him or I chose to ignore those weird butterfly feelings in my stomach.

I stayed silent, thinking about this all while George sat there, looking at me. "How about you go get yourself showered and ready, then let's go out somewhere. How about that?"

"Je ne sais pas," ("I don't know") I murmur, looking away. "I'm not sure if I'm up for that."

"That's okay. We can head to my work to-"

"Non," I said sternly, looking at the ground with narrowed eyes. "I can't go there. Not right now."

George stayed quiet for a few seconds before a hand was resting on my shoulder. "Go get showered and I'll think of something we can do together."

I nodded, getting up and heading to the bathroom to shower.

Maybe George was trying to help, but I'm hoping it's more helpful than lying in bed, in my own pity party.

"Here," I was handed an ice cream cone, piled with a peanut butter chocolate type of ice cream.

"Merci," I murmur to the tall Virginian who smiled at me.

"Hey, how about we go see a movie later?" George recommended, smiling. "I heard there is a good movie coming out about some of the Founding Fathers, kind of like the musical Lin Manuel-Miranda."

I shrugged, not really minding being out of my house and empty bed. "If you want to," I mumble, eating my ice cream I was given.

I felt George's eyes on me as I looked at the ice cream I had, not wanting to look up at the taller male. "Lafayette," he whispered. "What can I do to make you feel better?"

"I don't know!" I called out, finally looking up at his brown eyes. I noticed I caused a bit of attention in the building. "I don't know," I repeated quietly.

George stayed quiet, watching me as I ate more of my cone. "It will get better."

"I've heard," I tell him, my eyes straying from his once more. "Everyone says this, but I don't know if it can get better."

"Lafay-"

"I was cheated on by someone I've known for a long time," I explained, my eyes watering. "It's just hard to think about right now. I just want to let it go, but I just can't."

"Lafayette, you can't let things go, especially things like this. You will experience pain that will hurt, but that's just life," George said wisely. "It'll take time, I know it will."

I stayed silent, eating my ice cream. Time better hurry up, then.

A gentle hand led me to the concert, my eyes on the ground. "Come on, Laf!" John smiled at me, his eyes on me. "It'll be fun!"

"I'm not into this stuff, mon ami," I tell him, finally looking up.

"George is there," a blush creeped onto my face and I gently hit his arm.

"I hate you sometimes."

"Love ya', too," John practically shoved me into the building. "George should be in the pit. Go catch him. He's tall and easy to spot."

After John got me into the building, he ran off in a different direction than where he told me to go. A deep breath escaped my lips as I made my way towards the pit, confusion of how John me here without me finding out until I was down the street.

I noticed George instantly and he looked over to me with his brown eyes. "Hey! Come on over!" He called, smiling. I walked to him and smiled as he looked at me. "I didn't know you would actually come. This definitely is not your scene."

"I know," I agree, giggling. "John pushed me here."

Music began playing and George turned towards the stage. "It's starting. Right on time, Laf."

Deep bass began shaking the floors as George looked at the stage with excitement. I smiled adoringly at the Virginian before turning towards the stage, curious of what is even playing. When I heard the singing began, I practically fainted.

"This is Twenty One Pilots!" I called out, excitement running through my veins.

"Yes! You know them?" George asked, smiling more.

"I love them!" I exclaimed. "They saved me."

George grabbed my hand gently, intertwining our fingers. I blushed and looked at the taller male. He smiled at me before turning back to the stage. I couldn't help but look at the man next to me.

This man will be the death of me.

I looked at the man sitting across from me in the restaurant, his eyes on his food as he ate. He looked up to meet his brown eyes with mine. I smiled at him before he smiled back.

"You enjoying our date?" George asked.

"I am loving it," I say, eating my own food. "Are you thinking dessert?"

"Maybe," he shrugs, finishing off his meal. "You?"

I shrug, finishing my own meal. "I say we go get ice cream, oui?"

"I agree."

The waitress brought the check and George rushed to give her his card before I could even move. I gave him a playful glare, smiling, as he looked innocently at me. I laughed at his face as he was given his card back. We then left, his hand finding mine.

"So ice cream?" I asked, looking at the sidewalk we walked on.

"How about that ice cream place we love?" He suggested. "It has really good vanilla."

"You are so boring," I tease, nudging him with my hip.

"You say that, yet you get the same thing every single time," he teases back, laughing.

"Oui, that is true," I giggle as we got to the ice cream parlor.

When we walked in, I felt everything freeze. In a booth is my ex boyfriend, Thomas Jefferson. I felt George's hand squeeze mine.

"Do you want to leave?" George murmured to me, his lips next to my ear.

"N-Non, let's get our ice cream," I got confidence from the bottom of my gut, walking over to the counter and ordering our usual ice creams.

"Ah, George Washington, sir!" I heard a southern accented man exaggerate.

"Thomas Jefferson," George greeted.

"What are you doing around here? I never took you as an ice cream type of guy."

"I came here with my date," George said. "I really do enjoy ice cream, Jefferson."

"No need to be formal, George. You can call me Thomas," Thomas sounded like he was flirting, but with his boss, it is quite a trip down a strange road.

"I apologize, Thomas, but I must get back to my date. He can't be ditched," George quickly said, stepping to me where I held his ice cream with one hand and mine in the other.

"You went on a date with him?" Thomas sounded disgusted. "Sir, he won't satisfy any of your needs."

"Needs?" George questioned, my confidence slowly draining as I hid behind my date. "He is a human, not a damn robot, Jefferson. You will treat him with the respect he deserves or I will never treat you with respect ever again."

I saw Thomas getting nervous under the taller Virginian's stare. "Y-Yes, sir."

George gently took my free hand and led me out of the parlor, keeping his hand in mine until we were a safe distance away. "I promise, I will keep you safe," George murmured, kissing the top of my head. "You deserve everything in the world."

I looked up at George, my emotions feeling drained like my body. "George?"

"Yes?" He turned to me with worry.

"I don't think I can eat this," I hand him my uneaten ice cream. "I don't feel that well anymore."

He took the ice cream into the hand that was holding my hand and found a garbage can, throwing his and mine into the garbage. He carefully picked me off the ground and twirled me around the sidewalk. I started smiling, knowing we probably looked like a very cheesy couple to the peoples' eye.

"You are amazing and wonderful. You don't deserve how Jefferson treated you. You deserve everything you ever desire, plus more. You no longer have him, you have me and I have you. That's all I need in life," He said, smiling.

I smiled and pecked his lips. "Thank you, George."

He looked at my eyes for a moment before kissing me deeply, making this kiss long. I smiled into the kiss and we separated. "How about we go back to mine and watch some movies?"

"Oui, I would love that."

"I will make you believe you are lovely," he sung quietly.
