It's been a few days, since we've gotten the new recruits. All seemed to be doing well...except for one. Steve Rogers. He's been struggling to keep up with the other men, and I must admit, I feel some empathy for him. I've been through what he's going through. When I first joined, I was always at the back of the line, barely able to keep up with the men. But, I had Peggy there, to help me through the years. It was one of those, tough love friendships. But, I don't want Rogers to continue struggling. I don't like seeing my men struggle.

Today, the soldiers were running the obstacle course, which consisted of climbing the rope wall, crawling under wire while carrying a rifle, and climbing up a wooden wall. I stood beside Lt. James, and I noticed the faces on the soldiers. They didn't look so pleased about the course. I looked at Steve, and I could tell he was a little worried about the course, but knowing him, he's determined to pass it.

"Alright men, get into starting position!" Lt. James ordered. I watched as the men got ready for him to yell 'start'. That's when I got an idea in my head.

"I'll be joining you men." I said as I walked beside Steve. The men looked at me with puzzled looks on their faces. "Whoever finishes first, gets out of running later," I said with a small grin. The men smirk and steady themselves. I glance at Steve and gave him a small smile.

"You up for the challenge?" I asked him. He nodded his head.

"Ready....GO!" Lt. James yelled, and everyone began running toward the rope wall. Though there was a bit of a distance from the start to the rope wall, I wasn't really affected by it. Steve; however, was a different story. We were climbing the wall, Steve shortly behind me, and I could tell he was getting tired. As I neared the top, I looked down and noticed Steve lose his footing, and fell, but luckily his foot got caught in the rope.

"Rogers! Get up from up there!" I heard Lt. James yell. I started to climb down towards Steve, and held my hand out.

"Grab my hand." I told him. He struggled to reach for my hand, but managed to grab it. I pulled him up, and as we looked at each other, we let out a light chuckle. "Are you alright?" I asked him. He nodded his head.

"Yeah, fine". He said.

"Lt. Thomson! Rogers! Climb!" Lt. James yelled. Steve and I began climbing and managed to reach the top. We carefully climbed down, and managed to make it to the ground, without another mishap. I jogged with Steve at his own pace, as we reached the table of helmets and rifles. Once we were situated, we began crawling through the wires.

As I crawled through the mud, I started to dislike my little...wager for the boys. I'm not a huge fan of crawling in dirt. Never was, never will be. As I made my way out, I looked back at Steve, who was struggling. He was extremely tired, and I felt bad for him.

"Come on, Rogers! You can do it!" I cheered him on. As I watched him, I noticed him speed up a little and I couldn't help but smile. As he came to the middle of the course, I noticed someone kick the wood that held the wires up, causing them to fall on Steve. As the soldier came from the course, I realized it with Hodge. When he tried to run past me, I quickly grabbed his shoulder.

"Go back, and pick it up." I said through gritted teeth. He looked at me, and let out a light laugh.

"I'm not afraid of a little woman, such as yourself." He said with a grin. I grabbed him by the collar.

"I've about had it, with this attitude of yours. Maybe that punch wasn't enough for you." I threatened him. Hodge simply chuckled, not fazed by my words.

"Why don't you stop playing soldier, and go in the kitchen and make me something." He said with a smirk. I was ready to hit him then and there, but I heard Lt. James call my voice.

"Lt. Thomson! Hodge! Finish this damn course!" He yelled. Hodge pushed my hands off his collar.

"Do as you're told." He hissed, as he jogged away. I wanted to chase after him, but I remembered Steve. I turned back to the course, and saw him still struggling. I got onto the ground, and crawled to Steve's position. As I lifted the plank of wood, I felt some wires cut me on my arms. But, none of that mattered. All that mattered, was helping Steve. Steve looked up, realizing that I was helping him.

"What are you doing?" He asked. I smiled.

"Helping a soldier, Soldier." I said, as I tried to place the plank of wood back into the ground. "Come on. You should be good now." I told him. I managed to turn myself around, and crawled back out. Steve and I jogged our way to the wall, and attempted to climb up it. Surprisingly, Steve managed to finish it before me. As I walked over to the group of tired men, they gave me certain looks.

"What is with the looks?" I asked them.

"I thought you would've came in first. But Henderson here, beat you." One soldier said. I noticed a man stand up, a proud look on his face. I tried to refrain from rolling my eyes. There's nothing I hate more, than a cocky soldier.

"Well then. Henderson, I guess you're excluded from the run." I told him. He nodded his head, and walked away. Since it was time for break, the men didn't do anything, but sit and rest. I looked at Steve, and gave him a smile.

"You did good, Rogers. I'm proud of you," I praised. He shyly smiled.

"Thanks," he said, as he looked toward the ground. He suddenly placed his hands on my arm. "When did you get these?" He asked. I looked at my arms, and remembered about the cuts.

"It's from the wires, when I tried to help you," I informed him.

"You should go to the infirmary." Steve said urgently. I shook my head.

"It's nothing, really. I've had worst." I said nonchalantly.

"You could get something, from not taking care of these. Besides, you shouldn't want anything to ruin your beauty." He said. I gave him a slight confused look. Steve's cheeks started to turn a bright red. "Uh-I mean you-you, shouldn't want anything to happen to you. I-It could...um..." Steve stumbled.

I chuckled. "Thank you for the concern, but I'll be fine," I assured him. I patted his shoulder as I walked away. I couldn't help but think about how embarrassed he seemed. I chuckled lightly to myself, as I made my way to my cabin to change my clothes.
