War Dog (T'Challa)

3.3K 86 22
By baldheadeddemon

Being a child of a Wakandan war dog and a god is interesting to say the least. Your father is Asgardian, your mother from wakanda. You have naturally pin straight white hair and cyan blue eyes—the only two physical traits you got from your father. After that, your skin is a little lighter than your mother's—you describe it as coffee with just a splash of creamer—and a naturally curvy figure. You are thick due to the training you did in Asgard.

When your mother returned to Wakanda, you were 16. You had lived most of your life in Asgard. And as you predicted your mother's tribe did not welcome you with open arms.

You didn't care.

You find the golden tribe members annoying and don't talk to them. You stay to yourself and train with the Dora Milaje trainer when she's available while also practicing your Asgardian skills which include magic.

Your magic is powerful and strong—so strong the only person who could train you in Asgard was an old god who had selected you to teach.

You were 18 when you unlocked another power. You had gone to the Bast temple, waiting for your mother, a Priestess there. You had taken a herb, hungry from training earlier, and popped it in your mouth to the horror of those watching.

You fainted, falling backwards as they rushed to you. When you woke up your eyes were mismatched. Your right eye is amethyst purple. Your magic became stronger and you moved with all the grace of a cat and snake combine.

When you turned 20 the king approached you. T'Chaka has seen you fighting the Dora Milaje during a training session. You had managed to hold them all back: no powers necessary. When he had learned you weren't apart of the group training to become Dora Milaje he was surprised.

Arriving at your mother's house, you eyed the king and prince with cool eyes. T'Challa was in awe with you.

"What are you?" T'Chaka asked causing you to growl.

Your mother placed a hand on your shoulder.

"She doesn't appreciate that your majesty."

"My apologies. I did not know."

"My daughter is Wakandan and Asgardian. Her name is Astrid."

"What does her name mean?" T'Chaka asks.

"Divine Strength And Beautiful Goddess."

"It's a lovely name Astrid."

"Thank you."

"I want to offer something to you."

You look at T'Chaka, curiosity in your bicolour eyes.

"Would you like to create your own group of warriors?"

You agreed.

Present time
You eye the man as two of the warriors under you pull the body away.

"Handcuff him."

They obey and you walk over to W'Kabi.

"W'Kabi thread carefully. If you do anything to make me question your loyalty: I will cut you down," you say softly, walking away as if you did not just threaten his life.

You all leave with the man.
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
"I want the throne."

Everyone laughs except you, your warriors (known as the Darkness or Ubumnyama) the Dora, T'Challa, and W'Kabi.

"You think it's funny? A joke?"

"You want the throne?"

Everyone looks at you.

"Yeah I do. Who are you? The queen?"

"No. I am the Commander or Umyali."

You step forward. You and your warriors wear all black armour that looks like a catsuit. The warriors have a black cloak that has embroidered in it a darker black. It is all pinned to their left shoulder. You have a black cloak like your father—it's actually one of his but you have it to Shuri to improve it. You also wear your hood to hide your hair. The cloak has a black and grey fur on the trim around your neck. Black pin pins it to your shoulder. The pin is of a snake wrapped around a skull which has a Panther's paw on it.

"You want the throne?"

"Yes."

"There is one tradition my mother told me about. One where you don't fight the king."

"Excuse me?"

"It's known as Uyazidela or The Sacrifices. You fight a set of five warriors. Each one stronger than the previous. If you can beat those five: then you can challenge the king."

"What if he doesn't?" T'Challa asks.

"He either dies while trying to battle or the king orders the warrior to spare his life."

"Are these battles back to back?" Okoye asks.

"Traditionally: no but we don't have time for that."

"Can he fight the strongest warrior?" The river tribe elder asks.

"Yes he can."

"Who's the strongest warrior?" W'Kabi asks.

You smirk.

"I am."
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
You stood, patiently waiting for Erik.

"What are the rules?" Zuri asked.

"They fight until one kills the other or One yields," your mother says, stepping forward. "There are no rules in the fighting. They may use any skills or powers."

Erik nods.

"Your cloak Astrid."

You pull the hood down and reveal your pure white hair. You remove the cloak and hand it to your mother.

You return to the middle of the falls and Erik stares.

"Your hair—"

"It's white. And?"

Erik growls.

"I will kill you."

You smirk.

Your mother raises her hand.

"Begin!" She booms.
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
Erik is breathing hard. You are barely sweating. You hadn't touched your magic, just using your hand to hand and weaponry training.

Erik has cuts on his arms, one to his side, and one to his cheek. You twirl your staff.

"Is that all Prince?"

Erik growls and charges. You dodge with grace and skill before kicking him back, stabbing the staff by his neck. He rolls away and you leave the staff.

"Let's finish this."

Erik gasps as an unseen force grabs his neck. He claws at his neck while your hand glows purple.

"Yield or die. The choice is yours."

"Enough Astrid."

You look at T'Challa and nod. You stop using your magic before turning. Erik roars and lunges. You grab him by the throat and squeeze.

"Don't make me disobey my king. I will kill you."

Erik struggles and you drop him.

"There will be no challenge today," you say. "Get this man a doctor."
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
Several Weeks Later
Erik walks into the sparring room you and your warriors were training. You all stop and you look at Erik.

"What do you need my prince?"

"I want to train with you."

"Excuse me?" Jafar says.

"Jafar."

The tall man huffs.

"Come. You'll start with Aisha and work your way up."

"Way up?"

"Yes. My warriors are all at the same level but with certain specialities. You will learn from each of them one on one but to learn where you need help: I must see you fight each of them. Are you ready?"

Erik nods.

Aisha steps forward.

"Begin."
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
You raise an eyebrow at the knock.

"Come in."

Erik enters and stares. You are in a black hoodie dress. You are thick but Erik knows that the thickness is 90% genetics and 10% work.

"How can I help you N'Jadaka?"

"I need a friend."

"So you come to me?"

"T'Challa said we have a lot in common."

"Did he?"

You sit at the vanity and begin doing your makeup.

"Come Sit little jaguar."

Erik sits next to you on the bench.

"Talk to me. What has you worried?"

"How are you so...forgiving?"

"Are you not one of my warriors?"

"I am?"

"Yes. The others hold respect for your willingness to humble yourself and train with them. Especially Jafar. Now, I can forgive. Now what is truly bothering you?"

Erik leans his head on your shoulder.

"I have no one. I'm alone."

"You have the Ubumnyama."

"I do?"

You chuckle.

"Yes you do."

Erik sits quietly as you finish your makeup.

"I'm going into town. Care to come with me?"

"Sure. I'll go get dressed."

He leaves and you chuckle, applying the highlighter.
🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
You and Erik return later that night, T'Challa greeting you two. He hugs you and Erik blinks.

"Are you two dating?"

You and T'Challa blink.

"Huh? What? No!" You two say together.

Erik chuckles.

"Are you sure?"

You and T'Challa look at each other.

"Good night you two," Erik says and walks off.

"Dating?"

"Mother has asked if we are more than friends," T'Challa admits.

"What?! Where—"

"Do you want to try?"

"Excuse me?"

T'Challa blushes. You two are standing in the hallway.

"Astrid...I'm asking you out on a date. Would you like to go on a date with me?"

You stare at T'Challa as if he just said he was Thor himself.
