She looked up at me from her nails. "As Coworkers? Friends?"
Why did I listen to my brother?
"No." I said and she understood.
"Oh." She said. "Sure."
"Are you being serious with me?" I asked her.
"I mean you could have chosen a better time. But yeah I don't have a problem with it." She said. "I'm free tommorow."
"Tommorow works." I said.
She looked at her watch. "Sorry to cut this conversation short but Evelyn's daughter has an appointment today and we carpooled in my car so I gotta go."
She picked up her purse and left the office. I followed soon after her and returned to my office.
Francis sat in my swivel chair. "So?"
"She said yes." I said.
"I told you." He said.
He pressed a button on the phone and spoke into it. "You can give me my money on my way out Gerald."
I heard someone curse on the other end and a few laughs.
"I can't believe this." I said.
I walked around the desk and threw him out of my chair. "My whole staff and my brother are against me."
"Suck it up Cinderella." Francis said. "You've got bigger fish to fry. You have to figure out where to take her."
"Well I can't choose based off of her taste in food. She seems to like all types of food." I told him.
"There has to be a food that she hasn't had yet." He said. "Try italian."
Why do I listen to him?
"Fine." I sighed.
"So while you sulk I'm going to collect payments. Cynthia has to go get an ultrasound and I have to go watch Benjamin." He said. "Oh and I almost forgot. It's a girl."
As soon as he exited the office I googled the best italian resturants near me.

"He asked you out." Evelyn sang. "Gerald owes me money."
I stopped in front of the hospital. "Get out of my car."
She laughed and helped Amir and his sister out of the car. As soon as she shut the door I pulled off.
"He asked me out." I thought to myself.
"Nope. He wanna hit it and quit it." My subconscious echoed back.
"He asked me out." The thought made me happy.
I had to figure out what to wear.
I pulled into the driveway and hopped out.
Chase, probably sensing good news, was wagging his tail when I walked in.
I fed him and he followed me to my room.
I know it sounds unbelievable but Chase has great fashion sense.
Together we chose a dark blue, knee length dress and some dark blue, open toed prada heels.
"Good boy." I said rubbing Chase's head.
I left the room and veered towards my studio.
As I sat on my stool painting that now familiar smirk I took many glances at the painting in the corner of the room. The faceless one.
I wonder what color his eyes are.
Will he wear his glasses on the date tommorow?
Will my picture ever have a face?
Where are we going?
Will it be fun?
Did I make the wrong desicion?
Was it too soon?
Who'll win the bet?
Gerald owes everybody money.
I know it seems like i'm going against my own words but I said yes on an impulse. Something inside me was telling me to say yes. But it's just one lunch. Nothing could go wrong.

In the morning I decided to wear my outfit to work, not knowing when this lunch would happen. Chase lounged in the living room while I showered and did my make-up. He was good company.
Evelyn was still singing about me getting asked out and Gerald paying her when she picked me up.
As we drove she asked me. "So when's the wedding?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "There is no wedding."
"You're no fun." Evelyn said.
I laughed again. I probably shouldn't have said yes. I've only worked for the guy for a month now. But it seemed like the best choice.
I clocked in and went to my office. I had just sat down when Mr.Wells entered the office.
So his sunglasses will be joining us today.
"Ms.Chambers." He greeted me.
"Mr.Wells." I said in return.
"I should warn you. I don't date often so bear with me." He started. "But I got this idea from my brother."
"So where to?" I asked.
"Here and there." He said and offered me his hand.
"I thought we might complete the day of work first?" I asked and took his hand.
"We are working. In a different way." He said and led me out of the office.
I got a few looks and glances from some fellow co-workers. I even saw a few of them exchanging money as we passed.
When I saw Evelyn she was dancing around with a large stack of money in her hand. She gave me a smile and waved.
I didn't have a chance to wave back before we were on the elevator.
"I carpooled with Evelyn today." I said once we got off.
"I'll take you home afterwards." He said and led me to his car.
He had a Bentley. Like Damien. Except his was nicer. It was clean and glossy.
He opened the door for me and waited for me to slide into the vehicle.
He got in the driver's seat and we were off.
I decided to break the silence. "What's your favorite color?"
"Why?" He countered.
"Dates are for getting to know people and I can't get to know you without asking questions." I explained. "So what's your favorite color?"
"Blue." He said and glanced at me. "Yours?"
"I don't have one. There are too many to choose from." I told him. "Favorite movie?"
"Do I honestly look like I have the time to sit down and watch a movie?" He once again answered my question with another question. "How about we spend this period of time getting to know you and next time we'll get to know me."
"There'll be a next time?" I asked.
He shrugged and we pulled up in front of an italian resturant.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached to open the door when the lock snapped.
I withdrew my hands and turned around to see Mr.Wells with a very stern expression.
"Don't."

I lied. Turns out I have some free time. Because I'm sick. Life always doing me bogus.
