Training.
It was part of life, no way out of it, and rarely a way to enjoy it.
Both Yuri Plisetsky and (Y/N) Nikiforov knew that, and that there was no way out of it.
They knew they had to do well, for Russia, themselves, and their idol, Viktor.
The pair usually trained together, but performed apart. The couples skate was nothing to either of them, they wanted to be the best in the individual categories and bring home glory to Russia.
Neither of them thought that at some point, the couples skate would be a reality... in Japan.

Yuri, being the impulsive and somewhat overly passionate idiot he is, decided to follow Viktor over to Japan (again), dragging (Y/N) with him.
The girl complained to the blond male about being dragged along. "It's winter, why are we here?! I would rather be here in spring watching cherry blossoms, Nekoboy." She grumbled, grabbing his attention.
"Shut up! We're here to bring your brother home, dumbarse." He yelled, stalking off ahead as he left the (H/C) with the bags.
"He's happy here, you twat! He's found the love of his life, and he loves skating again! Can't you leave him be?!" She hollered in return, only to hear a tut from the other skater.
"He belongs at home with us... not with that pig." He grumbled, only to have his suitcase throw at his head.
"STOP CALLING MY BROTHER IN LAW THAT, ARSEHOLE!" She screamed, running ahead into Yuuri's hot springs entrance.
Yuri followed behind and sighed, rubbing the back of his head as he walked down the dirt path and straight into the house, immediately to his guest room.
"(Y/N)-chan!" Yuuri's mother called, hugging her when in eyeline.
"Okaasan!" She said in return, enjoy the warm embrace, before Viktor came running through with Makkachin for cuddles.
"(Y/N)! You're here! Why?" The silver haired skater asked, hugging her whilst she hugged Makkachin.
"Yuri dragged me here to bring you home AGAIN, but he doesn't realised you're happy here with Yuuri." She grumbled, although smiling a bit when Makkachin ran off to grab Yuuri.
"Ehhhh... he is persistent isn't he?" Viktor laughed, before turning serious for a moment. "Does he know that he's going to be doing the couples skate with you for the skating rink's anniversary?"
"I haven't got round to that yet, we train together but he's been funny lately. He will get there early and end early, he'll avoid my texts and calls until I leave loads and he then acts all calm about it, like it's nothing..." she mumbled, seeing Yuuri coming down the hall with Makkachin in tow.
"(Y/N)-san! You're here, what a surprise!" He said happily, offering her a robe, a towel and a hug. She gladly took all three, which also involved Viktor and the fluffy hound.
"I need to use the baths, so if you will excuse me, I shall go and have one." She bowed out of the situation, headed to the communal bath, only to find Yuri already there.
"I see it's been a long flight for you as well, slim. Mind if I jump in?" (Y/N) asked, only for Yuri to blush and be all tsundere.
"Do what you want to, idiot. I'm not in charge of you." The blonde bluntly replied, looking away so the girl could undress.
(Y/N) sighed and pulled off her tracksuit and top, leaving herself in her bra and knickers. She briefly thought about taking off her underwear and being nude but notice Yuri had on a pair of underpants to keep himself decent, and thought against it, and climbed in next to him.
"Yuri, can I talk to you about something?" (Y/N) meekly asked, Yuri's eyes travelling to her form and giving her a small nod.
"Can we do the couples skate for the ice rink in three weeks for their winter wonderland special?"
"No."
The girl looked at him in despair, Yurio now further in the water than before.
"And why not?"
"Because."
"Because what?"
"The couples skate it for couples, da?" Yurio pointed out.
"Couple means two, nekoboy." (Y/N) sassed.
"We aren't a couple, we just train together," Yurio stressed whilst turning red. "Romantic or otherwise."
(Y/N) stood up silently, and walked away from the bath, balled up hands shaking in anger.
"If that's how you think, I'll ask Yuuri-nii to skate with me, Viktor-nii won't mind." She muttered through gritted teeth.
She then walked through the entrance/exit back into the house and to her guest room to dry off.
"Damn woman." Yurio muttered before soaking under the water once more.

"Yuuri-nii! Viktor-nii!" (Y/N) cried as she walks to the guest rooms, only for them to come rushing out their bedroom.
Viktor was cool and collected, whereas Yuuri was panicking, hands flailing about like a balloon man.
"What's wrong, pussycat?" Viktor cooed, bringing his sister into his arms whilst Makkachin stood guard, watching his trio of humans.
"Nekoboy nyaed dat hey woodnt do the cupples skate wig meeeeh!" She spoke in tears, her heart being crushed as Viktor's face dropped and Yuuri joined the support hug.
Viktor sighed, nuzzling his head against his sister's, gently pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
"He doesn't know how to get out emotion, (Y/N/N), he's still only a boy after all." Yuuri cooed, kissing he cheek softly.
At that moment, Makkachin growled at the footsteps coming down the hall, only for the trio to hear Yurio hiss at him.
Yuuri got pissed, and growled at him, the pair going on the defensive as (Y/N) got pulled into Viktor and Yuuri's room. "I'll talk to him." Viktor said, frowning.
He got up and walked out to talk to Yurio, Yuuri and Makkachin swapping places with him.
"Yurio. Apologise to my sister, or better yet, agree to do the couples skate." He barked as Yurio came closer. "She's heartbroken. Either get your act together and talk to her, or go back home. I will have her moved here if I must to keep her safe." Viktor commanded, only to have Yurio's eyes widen.
"You... you wouldn't take her away from me! She's all I have left!" Yurio screamed, only to have Viktor smirk.
"And what do you mean by that, Nekoboy?"
"So what if you leave, if she goes, I have no reasons to stay at home, not anymore! If you take her, my drive, passion and life will disappear faster than Yuuri drinking a bottle of sake at celebrations!" Yurio screamed, only to have Yuuri called out 'oi' through the door.
Yurio turned to the door as it opened, only to see (Y/N)'s bloodshot eyes, almost begging for him to speak to her.
"(Y/N)... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I never meant any of the mean things I've ever said before..." He took a minute to get her himself before bowing. "I like you, (Y/N) Nikiforov, please be my girlfriend!"
(Y/N) stood in awe, staring at Yurio as he nervously waited.
"Da." She muttered, only for Yurio to stand up straight, and run to her, hugging her closely.
"But only if you agree to do the couples skate with me." She muttered.
"If that's what it takes to be with you, I will do it."
