DESPITE BEING IN THE villa for 2 weeks, lani still hasn't got used to the bright lights waking them up every morning. she groaned in annoyance and shoved her pillow back over her face, but she was reawakened by ella jumping on top of her.
"what the fuck?!" she cursed, ignoring everyone laughing at her. "piss off."
"she's so moody in the morning," tyrique laughed.
"nah bro shes just moody. end of statement," zach joked. lani pretended to laugh for a second before pulling a straight face and giving him the finger.
"girls, you excited to speak to scott today?" asked sammy.
"scott!" lani yelled, pretending to dance before she rested her head on ella's shoulder and closed her eyes. a few people laughed at her switch up, but ashton only had one thing on his mind.
"what you shouting his name for?" he asked, rudely. mitch started to instigate whilst the rest of the boys gasped jokingly.
lani looked at ashton for a moment, confused at his outburst. ever since scott entered the villa, she knew ashton had immediately taken a disliking to him. he was far more protective over her recently - last night he wouldn't even let her go to toilet because he knew that she had to pass scott on the way there.
she wasn't sure if she liked it or not. yeah, it was cute how jealous and protective he was getting. but it was only week two, and in lani's eyes, he's settling down way too quickly for her liking.
"i'm just making him feel welcome," she explained through her giggles. everyone laughed at her shit reasoning apart from ashton who seemed a little more pissed off then he was moments ago.
"morning everyone," scott said as he entered the room. he was wearing only his boxers, and lani's eyes quickly scanned his body before she averted them so he wouldn't notice.
somehow jess noticed and she slapped a hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud. leilani turned to glare at the blonde, knowing that she saw what happened. this only caused jess to laugh even harder.
"you look like a mixture between a superhero and prince charming," zach complimented scott as the said man got himself comfortable next to mitch.
"yeah i see it," agreed leah, tiredly.
"you excited for today, scott?" lani asked, sitting up in the bed as she took a sip from her water bottle. she had on ashton's sunglasses to block out the harshness of the bedroom light.
"yeah," scott answered, staring at her. "i am to be fair, love. first full day!"
love. he just fucking called me love.
lani winked at him as she was dragged away to go and have her morning talk with the girls. although she loved the girls, she couldn't deny the fact that she always ended up drifting off during their daily terrace talks. she didn't know why - maybe it was because she was still tired from the night prior, or maybe it was because jess had the most soothing voice ever - whatever the reason was, she couldn't help but close her eyes as everyone around her started to talk.
"what about you, lani?"
her eyes opened. "what?"
molly paused before laughing. "were you drifting off to sleep then?"
"yeah sorry," lani apologised. "jess bro, you're voice is so relaxing. it's like a talking lullaby."
"thanks babe," jess smiled.
"what's your plan of action today then, lani? you gonna chat to scott," asked ella, throwing her arm around the shorter girl.
"definitely," nodded lani. "but obviously i want to talk to ashton as well. he's still top of my list and i want to get to know him more."
"but you and scott would be so cute together!" leah insisted as she cupped the girls cheeks. the girls all gave their voices of agreement.
"guys stop! i haven't even known him a full day yet. give it time. whatever happens, happens. whatever doesn't, doesn't," she shrugged.
"not gonna lie i hate the way you live your life off of yolo," catherine said, causing them all to laugh.
"unbothered queen," whitney said, leaning over to give lani a high five.

"BIT RUDE HOW YOU haven't spoke to me all morning," ashton said as he came over to sit next to lani on the daybeds. he threw his arm around her neck as the both of them laid down, her cuddled up to his side.
"sorry hun," she apologised and kissed his cheek, accepting the iced coffee he'd made for her. "i've been with the girls."
"well start making time for me," he warned.
"of course," she rolled her eyes. "how are you?"
"good, you?"
"better now that you've made me my coffee," leilani nodded, earning an eye roll from him. "i'm seriously not joking. this needs to become a habit. i'm a right bitch when i don't get my morning coffee."
"coffee or not, you're a bitch anyways so i don't see the point in making you one," ashton deadpanned.
she sat up and gave him an over-exaggerated look of offence. then, she paused, took in his words, sat in silence for a moment, and nodded her head in agreement. "yeah i can't argue with that."
"you look really pretty today," he complimented.
"so i don't look pretty every other day?" she asked as she swirled around her straw to make all of the ice cubes mash together. she always found the sound of ice hitting against the glass satisfying.
ashton sighed. "don't be like that."
"like what? you're saying i look pretty today, does that mean i looked ugly yesterday?"
"what-? no! of course it didn't!"
"whitney! can you believe this guy? he's just said i looked ugly yesterday!" lani yelled out to her best friend who was making a drink in the kitchen. the said girl gasped and gave a look of disbelief whilst zach, who stood next to whitney, laughed loudly at ashton's panicked state.
"stop grassing me up! i didn't say that!"
"weirdo. don't talk to me," lani pretended to be mad at him as she placed a pillow between them both to ignore him.
what lani was doing was a joke, everyone knew that; heck, even mehdi who was sat on the other side of the villa knew that. but ashton hated jokes - in fact, search that, he despised them. he knew she didn't mean it, he knew she was only joking. but he still didn't like it. he didn't like how outgoing she was. potentially, it was too much for him. the jokes, the tricks, the games. she needed to settle down, and ashton knew he was the man to put her back into that shell.
"okay," he shrugged, looking away from her.
lani panicked. "wait! i'm joking! give me attention, please!" she sent him a sweet smile.
he rolled his eyes. "fine!"
"good," she nodded, removing the pillow as she cuddled back under his arms.
the duo must have been laid there for hours. every now and then someone would come and sit with them, but in the end she remained under his arm until the early afternoon. leilani didn't understand why he was suddenly like this, she tried to make a move at one point but he said no and insisted that they hadn't spent enough time together. it was... weird, to say the least.
nevertheless, she still felt safe in his arms as her eyes closed. the girls nearby all awed and took photos of the sleeping couple as the boys now had something new to poke fun at ashton for.
lani woke up in the arms of ashton, a smile on her face as she leaned over to kiss his cheek. she knew she was bound to fall for him, how could she not? she was currently a blushing mess.
despite her finding his new behaviour very strange, she still couldn't see his obvious red flags. no one in the villa did, no one except scott. ashton knew that scott could already see right through him, and that's why he was going to do everything it takes to keep scott away from him and lani. he wasn't going to let her be taken away from him, he wanted her, and he always got what he wanted.

it was finally night time and lani had changed into a two piece, beige set that she paired with some white heels. she curled her short hair and only put on a bit of makeup; now that it was sunny her freckles had started to come through and leilani didn't want to cover up a part of her natural beauty.
"thank you all for welcoming me," scott said as he looked directly at leilani. "here's to a summer of memories and causing a bit of trouble!"
whilst lani was staring at him, she couldn't help but be a bit disappointed she hadn't spoken to scott all day. this was purely because she spent her entire time with ashton.
"lani!" speaking of the devil. scott walked over and stood next to the smaller girl. "wanna go for a chat? feels like we haven't spoke in ages!"
"i know right!" she agreed, grabbing his hand and dragging him towards the swing. "sorry about that, i've been with ashton all day."
his jaw clenched. "yeah, i saw."
"so, you settling in all right?" she asked, leaning back in her seat as he leaned next to her, their shoulders brushing against each other.
"enough with the small talk," he rolled his eyes. "tell me about yourself."
"fine," she jokingly glared at him. "i'm twenty, i'm from hull and i'm a dancer-"
"-really? how long have you been dancing for?" he asked, interested.
"since i was around two or three," leilani answered, causing his eyes to widen. "not gonna lie, i've won first place too many times to count, and i've even made up a few routines for other dancers that have won first place too."
"so is dance like your big thing then?"
"i've obviously been interested in other things, like i tried to get involved with criminology, but i've never taken it to an expert-ish level. i guess dance has just always been my number one priority."
"you look like a dancer," scott said. "if that makes sense. like you have the body for it."
"woah, are you admitting to checking me out?"
"shush."
she laughed at him. "whatever."
"tell me about your family," scott insisted, getting comfortable. "you've got me intrigued now."
"intrigued about what?"
"you."
yeah, she's purring.
"there's not much to say about my family," lani said, noticing his confused look she decided to continue.
"it's only really me and my siblings. my mums got a new family now and dad hasn't been in the picture for years. i have my twin brother, kai, and our baby sister, aria. she's only five. oh! then there's kai's girlfriend, fiona, who lives with us. i love her. she's like a big sister to me," she smiled at the thought of her little family. "so yeah, that's all there is to know really. obviously i have cousins and all that but we haven't seen them for years, i'm not exactly sure where most of them even live," she explained.
scott noticed how upset she was despite her smiling. he could see right through her, he didn't know how, he just could. she masked her trauma with sarcasm and a bad sense of humour, it was obvious now that he knew her family story. he didn't want her to think about it any longer, so he threw his arm around her shoulder and brought her close to him. "so tell me, what's aria like? is she a dancer like you?"
lani's eyes brightened at the mention of her baby sister. "no! she's followed in kai's footsteps with football."
"atta girl," scott applauded, causing lani to roll her eyes at him. "goal keeper?"
"nope. midfielder."
"ew," he cringed; lani giggled at his unamused face and rested her head close to his shoulder as the two watched everyone from where they sat.
"is lani a nickname everyone uses for you?" scott spoke up after a while.
"yeah, it's what i've been called since i was a baby. the only other nickname i have is lulu, which aria and kai both call me," she explained.
"i'm gonna start calling you leila."
"leila?" she repeated, confused.
"leilani, leila. it fits," scott quietly started to repeat the new name over and over again until he was satisfied. "and i want to be different."
she smiled at him. "leila it is then."
little did they both know that in the space of under twenty-four hours they would not be sat like this ever again, not at all. they wouldn't laugh together again, they wouldn't smile at each other again, they wouldn't even make eye contact with each other again.
soon, they would absolutely despite one another.
the main reason is, why?
anyone who looked at them now would see how into each other they were, the flushes on their faces as they sat close together and talked about everything and anything. but they forgot one thing, ashton was sat watching them, and he was fuming. he couldn't let this happen; he wasn't letting lani go, not that easily.
he didn't know how he was going to stop this, but he would find a way - he had to find a way. lani was his, and he wasn't going to let some crappy goalkeeper come in and place his hands on someone ashton wanted for himself.
no fucking way.

my inspiration for ashton is the main guy from you. just obvs he's not a murderer. i've never even seen you before but i saw an edit of the main guy and he looked like a psychotic stalker and that's the vibe i want ashton to give off. #LOL
anyways scott and lani for life. i love my babies so much and i can't wait for them to hate each other. their arguments are gonna be so funny
