I was hanging out with my friend, Jack, when his girlfriend called. Tomorrow is prom and he hasn't asked her since she has always been mad at him. No one has asked me either. This time, Jack had made a joke and she took it personally.
I've liked Jack for as long as I could remember. Even to this day we have houses right next to each other. His girlfriend has always hated me though because of how close we are. Jack doesn't love her and he has told me that, but he's to scared to leave her.
I'm in my room
It's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
Now the night before, I'm in my room and I'm writing an essay. Yes. An essay. I had Last Night by Morgan Wallen playing in the background. I decided to take a break after about 3 hours and started yelling the lyrics to the song playing and dancing.

Little did I know, Jack was over there. I looked over and he held up a sign.

After that he closed the blinds. I sighed in regret. Why would I say that?

Monica is the popular girl. Right now I'm at the hockey practice waiting for my other friend, Alex, while the cheerleaders for the team practice next to me. I'm trying to finish the last few paragraphs for my essay when I heard Monica whispering.
"Look at that loser. Working on homework at a hockey practice. Does she really think that Jack and Alex like her?" Her and the others giggled before walking passed. One of her minions stopped and poured water all over me. I ran off with my laptop.

Standing in my room, I looked at myself in the mirror. I finished crying while overthinking my entire life. I had my curtains open to let in some of the last sunlight of the day. Tomorrow is prom and I'll be in my room writing a stupid essay.
I heard a rock hit my window. I looked over to see Jack with his window open. I pulled out my blank notepad while he did the same.
'You okay?'
'I guess. Why?'
'I saw what the bitches did to you.'
I giggled lightly at that.
'Seriously. You get used to it when your best friends girlfriend, who hates you, is apart of the "bitches"'
'I guess. Anyway, I got to go get ready for prom tomorrow.'
'Yeah. Have fun.'
Jack smiled and nodded before I closed the drapes. He hasn't smiled in weeks.

That night, I was thinking about everything me and Jack did over the years. He would walk over to my house in the middle of the night for late night movie sessions. I know how to make him happy after he's about to cry. I know he prefers country over pop, and I know he wants to go to the NHL one day.
The other night, Jack was telling me that he doesn't know where he belongs. As I thought this over more, I figured it out. I think it's with me. Why am I here? I pulled out a beautiful dress I bought for the prom and did my hair before leaving.
Jack's POV
God I wish that Carla was here. Monica has been such a bitch and left me everywhere. I was going to show Carla a sign that says 'I love you' but I hesitated. I saw her write something down but then put it away. I wonder what that said.
Mon came here in a very revealing orange dress and left with another guy. Classic. I'm standing here with a few friends and just chatting when..

I walked in with a paper in my pocket. You never know when you may need it. People cleared upon seeing me. When Jack saw me, he put his drink down and started walking towards me. Monica saw him walking and stopped him.
"What are you doing?" She questioned. He just pushed her aside and continued. "What the hell!" She yelled before walking back.
When we met, Jack pulled out a paper and unfolded it. 'I love you' is what it read. I smiled and pulled out mine. We both looked at each other before leaning in. We both whispered the same thing before kissing..
