All in Devon's POV
Today is Ophelia's birthday, so I decided to surprise her. I didn't tell anybody. Today after practice I went to her favourite bakery downtown to get her a cake.
"Hello." I said to the worker in front. She smiled and waved. "Pick up for Levi?" She brought out a cake that said 'Happy Birthday Ophelia.' I smiled at the perfection, thanked her, and paid.
The cake is a 1 tier red velvet cake with cream cheese icing on top and some flowers. I drove to the apartment and got a picnic blanket and a basket.
In the basket, I put her favourite foods: strawberries, watermelon, cookie dough, and pasta. I also put in some candles to light, a bottle of wine, wine glasses, and a few more necessaties.
After putting everything into the trunk of the car, I started the car and drove. I was meeting Ophelia there and I was excited..I guess. Today wasn't one of my favourite days I must say.
The place we're meeting is a big tree on top of a hill at sunset. She always says "when I die, look for me in the sunset" because she loves them. The location is about an hour drive from the house, so I started driving at around 4 pm.
Around an hour and a half later, due to traffic, I got to the location. I grabbed the things from the back and started the walk up the hill. Once I got up there I placed down the red and white picnic blanket and the basket.
I got out everything from the basket and poured to glasses of wine. I looked over to the empty spot beside me and sighed. I ate the food before lighting the cake while still looking to the spot where Ophelia should be.
I looked up to the sunset above. "Happy birthday, my love. Why did the world have to take you so soon?"
