Nervously I walk through my room. Lando would pick me up soon and then we would have our third date. He told me I should wear something comfortable, but I still don't know what we will do, and his tip doesn't help me at all with picking an outfit. Yes, I should wear something comfortable, but that can't mean I am supposed to be dressed in jogging pants and a loose-fitting sweater. While I look into my closet my thoughts wander and I remember how things started between us.
The first meeting:
The primary school where I currently make my internship participated in a contest and won it. Week after week the little ones worked and crafted the necessary things and today the big day arrived. The McLaren drivers would be coming to our school today, to spend some time with the kids, answer questions, sign things and smile for the pictures. I have little to no knowledge about F1, but the kids are so excited that I just will let myself be surprised about who is coming today.
In the end, I spend the day with Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris and many happy children. Together the two men fulfil every wish which is possible, and I am more than satisfied with this day. The fact that my eyes wander way too often to Lando is something that would amuse my friend, but I try to forget this little crush as quickly as possible. He wouldn't want to get to know me better anyway was something I believed in until he asked me for my number at the end of the day. And this was the start of something I never thought I will experience.
The first date:
Even more surprising that Lando asked for my number was that we texted on a regular basis and that more happened. Right now, I am waiting in front of the flat I am living in for Lando who wants to pick me up. Our first date, a bright smile is on my lips every time I think about this meeting.
He picked me up and we drove to a simple restaurant nothing fancy, just a cosy atmosphere with some privacy. The evening was wonderful, we talked a lot, got to know each other and laughed a lot. The time flew by and then the evening was finished.
Lando drove me back home and brought me to the door. Just like on our way to the car we hold hands and my body tingles when he brushes a hair strand out of my face.
"See you soon, good night." He whispers, gives me a soft kiss on the cheek and disappears with a cheeky grin to his car. I blush, look at the floor before I go into the building with glowing cheeks.
The second date:
Our second date came not long after the first. This time it was rather spontaneous because Lando decided he wants to spend my lunchbreak with me and like this, we walked around. Our fingers were crossed and even when we got some ice cream we didn't part.
Unfortunately, the time ran way too fast, and we had to part ways another time. Again, Lando just lightly kissed my cheek and again it made my heart flutter and my body felt as light as a feather.
And now I am standing here, waiting for our third date. Nervously I switch my weight from one leg to the other and back until a dark pickup with Lando behind the steering wheel stops beside me. Confused I wrinkle my forehead. Since when does he have this car? But before I can longer think about this I am pressed against Lando's warm body, and I quickly wrap my arms around him to hug him back.
Just like a gentleman Lando holds the door for me and I struggle a bit to climb into his car what makes him laugh. I roll my eyes and wait until he joins me, much more elegant, in the car until I start to ask him questions, trying to figure out what the plan for tonight is.
Lando just laughs charmingly and says I will know it quick enough. During the drive we talk, and I still try to get answers out of him with more subtle questions, but Lando knows directly what I am up to.
"You will like it, just trust me." And I did, how could I not give this, for me perfect boy, my trust? Just a few minutes later I spot what Lando has planned for tonight and I am almost speechless.
"Is this a drive-in cinema?" I ask him and I don't know what Lando heard in my voice, but it makes him panic immediately.
"Yes, so, if you don't like it, we can do something else...I just thought that could be cool, but if you don't want to?" He rambles, almost tripping over his own words while his eyes widen.
"It's perfect." I mumble calmingly and grab his hand to stop it from nervously gesticulating.
Relieved Lando leans back into his seat and smiles at me in a relaxed way. We stay like this for a moment, until Lando starts moving again, leaving the car and opening the door for me.
"I placed some blankets on the truck bed and made some food for us. If I may ask?" He grins and offers me his arm. Laughing I let him lead me to the back of his truck and he lifts me up before I can even try to climb on in myself.
We sit there together, cuddled under a blanket after we ate the sandwiches he prepared and watch the movie on the enormous screen in front of us. I can barely concentrate on the movie, because Lando has wrapped his arm around me and I lean against his chest which leaves to my body tingling the whole time.
My gaze wanders to Lando every now and then and one time he catches my gaze, and we look each other in the eyes, waiting what the other person will do. Lando moves first, he places his hand on my cheek until he carefully pulls it closer to his own. Almost pleading his lips brush over mine and when he realises, I don't move away from him he fully kisses me.
My eyes flutter close and I give back the soft pressure of his lips, savouring our first kiss. The tingling which is moving trough my whole body makes me shiver and I get goosebumps.
What feels like an eternity may have been just a split minute, but we have to pull our heads back slightly to gasp for air. An almost silent "Wow" leaves my lips while my head is probably bright red. With a blissful smile, Lando pulls me back into his arm and starts to speak.
"I know we met just a short time ago, but you just flashed me. When we were at your school, I needed to look at you several times and Oscar needed to pull me out of my thoughts again and again. And then you really went on a date with me, and you know what? On that evening I got to know your cute dimples and then I was fully falling in love."
He sits up a bit so that he can look into my eyes. "I fell in love with you and want to ask you if you want to be my girlfriend?" Lando bites his lower lip, hesitating if he asks this question too soon.
During his speech, some tears have raised in my eyes, and I can just nod at first. "Yes," I whisper and wrap my arms around his neck. "Yes," I repeat louder and look at him with a beaming smile which he returns.
Like this Lando and I became a couple and you can't imagine how awkward it was for me to meet his racing friends while Oscar just grins at me knowingly, but this is a different story...
