[23]-I love you but this tastes like charcoal
_____

"I am back." I announce when I enter the shared apartment of Clement and me. While he had a free day, only needing to do his daily workout, I had some classes at university. Leaving early and coming back late, totally exhausted and ready to spend the rest of the day on the sofa.

"Hey love." Clement has a wide smile on his lips when he comes into the hallway to greet me properly. Wrapping his arms around my hips, pulling me close like he hasn't seen me in days before he pecks my lips a couple of times. Giggling I turn my face and Clement keeps peppering kisses over my face and I feel all of the stress disappearing for a moment before a smell reaches my nose.

"What is that smell." I ask Clement, detaching my body from his, fearing that something is burning in the kitchen because it smells like he has forgotten something on the stove. Quickly I walk to the kitchen, Clement following me, only to see that there is nothing burning but the smell is heavier in here.

"I cooked." Clement announces and my heart stumbles, but not in a good way. He is not that experienced when it comes to cooking and with that smell, I do not think this is going to be a good meal. Since I don't want to hurt him, I act like this is something good.

"Oh, great. I am hungry." I am indeed hungry, but I am not sure if this meal is going to be a good one. For Clement, I will try it and maybe it is not as bad as I think it will be. Maybe something burned earlier, and this is where the smell comes from.

"I hope you like it, searched for a recipe earlier and did everything by myself." Clement is excited and starts to make to plates ready for us while I make us something to drink. He put a lot of effort into this, and I try to be as neutral as possible.

"Sounds great." I smile at him, and he beams back. He seems so happy with his attempt to cook, and I am not going to ruin this before I tried the meal he cooked. Sitting down at the small kitchen table I wait for Clement to join me.

"Here you go." He puts a plate in front of me before sitting down with his own. I smile at him before taking a first bite out of the food. It is hard to keep a straight when the burnt taste is on my tongue, just as expected and not with a pleasant surprise.

"And?" Clement asks, curious how his food taste and I am a bit sorry to ruin his mood, but this is nothing someone should eat. Honesty is the only way in this situation.

"I love you but this tastes like charcoal." I mumble and Clement frowns like he doesn't believe my words. He reaches for his own fork to try something of his own food and get a taste.

"It can't be that bad." He says, not willing to believe that my words are true, and I am eager for him to try his own food and realise it is indeed just tasting burned.

"Try it." I encourage him and Clement takes a bite out of his food. His face is hilarious, scrunching up when he tastes it and before hesitating for longer, he spits it into a tissue and coughs.

"Okay, you are right." We both start to laugh, and I am glad that he isn't too sad that his cooking didn't work out as he wanted it too. He still needs to learn some stuff to get a better cook, but someone should probably watch him during it.

"Takeaway?" Clement asks with a grin on his face, and I can't help myself but need to grin back.

"Takeaway!"
