"There are moments that can literally change your life."

I had to reread that paper to make sure I wasn't imagining it. My stomach was now twisted upside down and heat rose to my entire face, making me look like a tomato.
"Harry...this-this is-,"
"The Colarious." he finished, his voice shakey. I looked down to see him staring at the tube with wide, pained yet amazed eyes, his chest rising and falling, his lips parted in shock.
Silence danced in the room, making the anxiety grow stronger. I was still shocked that we found the Colarious mixture right in front of us. The sight of it was beautiful, but it was so odd that this thing could change a person's whole DNA.
"That's...that's..." I didn't know how to explain it. So many thoughts were messing with my mind and I couldn't think clearly at that moment.
"I knew they wouldn't destroy it." He muttered.
"This is what's in your s-system, r-right?" I said, looking back at the glowing blue liquid.
He nodded. "This is the special thing that was discovered for me.." he said lowly, sounding sad.
"Oh my God.." I whispered, shaking my head slowly. I can't believe that this is what runs in Harry's veins against his will. I can't believe that I had the chance to see it.
"I knew it would be somewhere here." he mumbled thoughtfully.
My eyes moved up to the dusty file on top of the tube, that was hidden in the dark, but I could see it from where I was. I reached my hand and grabbed it, taking it out of the darkness where it was placed. I blew out a breath to clean the file from the dust and Harry looked up at me.
"What's that?" he asked, furrowing his brows.
My fingers traced the green cover, noticing how damaged and old it was, meaning it was old. "I don't know, it was on the top of the tube." I replied, scanning down the file.
Harry kneeled down, sending a tiny jolt of panic through me at the sudden movement. He didn't warn me I was doing that and it scared me how my body moved backwards. Once I was on my feet, Harry stood up and turned to look at me, eyes intense and curious.
"I think it has to do with the Colarious." I muttered as I walked over to the desk, Harry following me from behind.
Harry tossed a few papers on the floor carelessly, making me give him a disaproving look. He shrugged nonchalantly and crossed his arms over his chest.
"What?" he asked as if he didn't do anything.
I rolled my eyes and placed the file on the desk, both of us leaning over it to have a better look. I opened the file to the first page which had a black and white picture of a big building with five men standing in front, staring at the camera with their hands in their robes' pockets.
I sensed Harry tensing beside me, making me shiver. I turned to look at him, taking in his sharp features and his clenched jaw, his angry eyes as they glared at the paper and his fists by his sides. I furrowed my brows and parted my lips to speak but he cut me off.
"It's him." he said through clenched teeth.
"Who?" I asked, looking down at the photo.
"Him," he pointed at the one that stood in the middle.
I looked carefully at the man that was in the photo, seeing how old he was and not believing how can such an old and experienced man, that has been through a lot, probably have lost his own loved ones, do something so inhuman to innocent little boys. He had a tiny smile on his thin lips, but I knew that it wasn't out of kindness. It was an evil one, a smile that hid a monster underneath. And the way he stood, so confident, with his head held high, as if he was proud that he was so heartless. I crigned at the sight of him and reached for Harry's hand, wanting to calm him down.
"Harry," I said softly, entwining our fingers. He looked down at me and his cold glare softened. "Try to calm down, okay?" I said quietly, squeezing his hand once.
He nodded and inhaled from his nose before looking down at the file. I turned the page only to see a few notes a doctor had wrote. Harry turned the pages impatiently, scanning them down quickly. He then took some papers that wrote about some chemical ingredients and mixtures as I kept reading down a few things.
I was even surprised when I found an article that said about the building. I shivered when I saw a black and white picture with the building that was turned into ashes and bricks, probably because of the fire. Harry went to stand in front of the blue tube, reading down the pages and looking up at the tube to see if the ingredients match or not.
Curiosity was taking the best of me so I started reading the damaged article that must have been from a newspaper.
«Tragic Episodes at the Local Science Lab»
On September the 25th the whole city was gathered outside the Local Science Lab to witness the remainings of the building's explosion. The police counted around 67 deaths, along with the famous dr.Gerard. All the scientists had the same destiny and died in the same building. Nobody knows what caused the fire, but the police thinks it might have been an explosion that was caused by mistake.
The police found dr.Gerard's body burned in the experiment lab where he had discovered some of the most unbelievable creations, but unfortunately everything was gone and there's nothing that reminds us of him.
That was all I could read since the rest of the article was gone. I had a few tears running down my cheeks out of anger and sadness as I placed the thin paper down.
Lies. They were lying to everyone. They said that all the scientists died, when they were actually orphan, helpless, teenagers that hoped they will escape that hell-hole one day. This is sick. How could they be so cruel those days? How could they just pretend that everything was okay when all those boys died for nothing? And how could they love that soulless man so dearly?
And the last part? That there's nothing that reminds us of that dr.Gerard? Another lie. Harry is the only thing that reminds us of him, including that old photo of the five scientists. Harry was one of the most unbelievable creations. Harry was the only one that survived that hell.
And one glance at his tensed back, made my heart break, because I felt sad that I wasn't there when he needed me the most. If I were born on 1956 and knew what was truly going on with that fucking experiment lab, I would've told everyone the truth and put those fuckers in jail.
I wiped my tears away with my hands and turned the page, trying to put everything in order. My head was a mess and I was still anxious and nervous that we might get caught. But then I reminded myself that Harry would make them leave us alone and forget everything.
"Did you find something?" Harry asked, making me jump.
I raised my brows and furrowed them right after, trying to calm myself down. "Uh, no, it's just some articles.." I murmured, flipping another page.
"I don't get it," Harry said lowly, shaking his head gently. He had the two papers raised in front of him and he glanced at the tube behind them. "It has some different things that...they are supposed to be destroyed after the mixture but they still exist." he said confused.
"How?" I asked.
"I don't know, I think," he sighed. "I think there's something else in there."
"Keep trying, we might find something that will help." I urged.
I continued reading down a few articles that kept saying about the explosion. I was sure it was nothing near an explosion.
"This is dangerous." Harry said thoughtfully. "They keep this here for God knows what. What if they're using it to patients? What if there are more like me?" Harry said, sounding a little panicked.
I felt even more nervous and stressed at that moment. "I don't think so.. Things would've gotten out of control if there were at least five people like you." I claimed.
"Right." he agreed, nodding once.
Minutes passed and we kept searching for the right data, but we came up with nothing. Frustrated, I flipped the last page of the file to see a few numbers and notes about chemistry, the word Colarious written on the top.
"Harry, come here." I said, looking up at him.
"What?" he asked, walking towards me, eyes curious.
"Look," I pointed at the paper and he took it in hands. His eyes scanned down the words, sometimes widening and some others narrowing, making my stomach churn.
"I don't understand.." he shook his head confused. "This doesn't make sense. This thing here has different ingredients than the other in the tube yet it says it's the Colarious." he said, moving his hand between the tube and the paper.
I frowned in confusion. "So you're saying that two completely different mixtures have the same name?"
"Something like it." he mumbled before sighing. "My head is a mess." he tossed the paper on the desk and ran a hand through his hair.
I sighed and pressed my lips in a tight line. How can this happen? Two different mixtures with the same name? Did the scientists try to create the same thing as dr.Gerard? Or is it something else?
"Fuck!" Harry suddenly yelled exasperatedly.
I jumped and gulped. "Harry, calm down.." I said gently.
He shook his head and started pacing back and forth, his eyes glaring at the tube. "How can this not be it?" he growled.
"I don't know.." I sighed and rested my hands on my hips.
"We're close Rebecca, I can feel it." He said, sounding certain.
I took the paper Harry tossed a few minutes ago in my hands and tried to understand what it was saying. Damn me for not paying attention in chemistry class. I furrowed my brows in concetration as Harry tried to control his anger.
"What are all these netagive and positive signs?" I asked, glancing up at him.
He shrugged. "I don't know," he seemed lost as he stared down at the floor, brows pulled low over his eyes.
The door suddenly opened and a doctor came in, his eyes widening once he saw us in. My heart came up to my throat and my stomach twisted upside down. Harry suddenly slammed the door like a flash and wrapped his arm around the man's neck, holding him still. The man gasped and gave me a scared, bewildered look as I stood frozen a few meters away.
Harry glared at me, his jaw clenched. "Why didn't you lock the damn door?" he hissed, causing me to flinch.
"S-sorry." I apologised awkwardly.
He rolled his eyes and turned the man around so he was facing him. Harry stared right into the man's eyes and I knew he was going to compel him.
"Do you know what that is?" Harry demanded, pointing at the tube.
The man turned hesitantely his head and peered at the tube before nodding.
"Good. Now," Harry took a fistful of the man's robe and dragged him all the way to the desk, the man stumbling on his feet. "Tell me what these signs mean." Harry held his hand out for me to give it to him and I handed it to him.
The man gulped before reading down the paper, his eyes scared and nervous. I stood there with a blank expression on my face, waiting for the man's reply.
"The n-negative ones a-are the products that can b-be destroyed by the p-positive ones..." the man stuttered, his words causing Harry and I to look at the paper.
Harry and I locked eyes, both of us having our brows furrowed. Harry let go of the man, who gasped as if he was shocked by the sudden move, and looked him in the eye. "Leave and forget you saw us." he compelled him.
The man nodded and quickly left the room, holding tightly on his robe, his eyes glued on the floor. Once he stepped out and closed the door behind him, Harry blew a shakey breath and ran a stressful hand through his hair.
"Well, at least he gave us an information." I muttered.
"The negative ones can be destroyed by the positive ones..." Harry said thoughtfully, pinching his lower lip between his index finger and thumb.
"Doesn't that tell you something?" I questioned, raising a brow.
He looked at the paper on the desk before reaching for it, determination written across his sharp features. We both went to stand in front of the tube and he raised the paper in front of him.
"I now see the positive ones..." he murmured. I kept my eyes glued on the tube, seeing the blue liquid changing shapes. "And...there are a few negatives.."
"So..?" I asked slowly, looking at him.
His eyes widened. "Holy shit." he gasped, making panic and curiosity rose inside of me.
"What?" I asked, my stomach twisting with nervousness.
"In the tube there are only negative ones and..." his eyes flitted back and forth between the tube and the paper. "And-and on the paper there are o-only positive ones." he stammered.
It took me a couple of seconds for the words to sink into my brain and make me understand what he meant. A loud gasp came out of my lips and I took a step back, staring wide-eyed at Harry whose expression was mirroring mine. My heart pounded louder than ever and the overwhelming feeling that coursed me made me wanna scream but instead of doing that, I spoke in a shakey, shocked voice.
"There's a cure."
