"Get out. I don't want any angel near my daughter. I raised her as a human and nothing else. I don't want any of your kind associating yourself with my daughter. Leave."
"Wait... I can't leave." I shook my head. "Demons are after me. If I go outside I'd be an easy target."
Her father's eyes widened for a second before he stepped forward and gripped me by my shirt. It was quite a shock to be suddenly gripped by this human. "Get out. If there are demons after you, then even more of a reason to kick you out. Stay away from me and my daughter. Got it?"
I stared, unable to form any words. He was serious. He really wanted me to go, I could feel it. His anger was radiating powerfully off of him, I couldn't even move, but still. I couldn't let him get to me. I had to grant Sophia's wish.
"No... I refuse. I have a mission to complete." I said as I glared back at him. I was challenging Sophia's father.
"You won't leave?" Her father huffed as he let go of my shirt, "If you bring any harm to my daughter, I swear, I don't care if you're an angel, I will--"
Before her father could finish his threat, a loud scream echoed throughout the house. Sophia's scream.
Her father and I looked at one another before bolting towards Sophia's room.
"Sophia!" Me and her father yelled in unison as we threw open her bedroom door.
We found Sophia cowering under her blanket, a large spider-like demon hovering above her on the ceiling. It had a body of a spider, and it's face, oddly enough, was human. It had red slanted eyes, a crooked nose, and a smile that only sent a shiver down your spine the longer you stared.
Her father stood there, his eyes wide as the creature hissed and lunged at him. I quickly knocked him away before he could get hit, "Sophia! Vile!" I yelled before being slammed against the wall by the demon. I gasped. The force nearly knocked the breath out of me.
The spider's arms morphed into human hands and pinned me against the wall with its cold fingertips. I gasped as I rammed my knee into its stomach, or... I think it was its stomach, the creature was too large to tell. Kicking it, only angered it, and it's teethe sank into my shoulder. I let out a howl of pain before a liquid was drenched on me and the demon.
The demon released me from its painful jaw and stumbled backwards. Sophia must had thrown the demon repeller on us, and I was extremely grateful. I don't think I would have survived if she hadn't.
The demon shrank back at the smell, yelled a sound that sent the room shaking, and quickly fled out of the already broken window.
We were all silent, until Sophia's father spoke up, "Are you okay?" He asked his daughter as he ran to her side.
"I-I-I'm fine." Sophia stuttered before she glanced to me. "He isn't. Gabe is bleeding."
I glanced down to my shoulder, my eyes widening when I stared at my injury. A large piece of my flesh was torn off, a blue liquid dripping from my wound. My face paled.
Poison.
Regardless of the pain in my shoulder, I forced a smile. "It's nothing! Just a little cut." I smiled through clenched teeth.
Sophia watched me with a frown, "Treat it.... We need to treat it." She said as she stood up, her legs shaking under her. She was still scared, and I didn't blame her. So was I.
"I'll do it." Her father said as he glared towards me. "Come with me."
I nodded hesitantly as I glanced over to Sophia. "They won't come back, at least for now.... You'll be safe," I assured."
Sophia nodded as she pulled her blanket closer to her body.
I didn't want to leave her, but her father quickly dragged me out before I could object. He led me down the hallway, opened up a door to the bathroom, and shoved me harshly inside.
"Sit down." He demanded as he pointed towards the toilet.
I nodded and sat down. I watched as he took out the same kit Sophia used on me earlier.
"No.... Not that stinging liquid again." I grumbled as I shook my head.
Her father glanced at me with confusion for only a second, before grabbing my arm and staring at my wound. "What the hell is this?" He questioned as he went to touch the blue liquid dropping out from my wound.
"Poison," I said quickly.
He withdrew his hand with a frown. "Poison? Demon poison?" He asked as he examined my wrist, his eyes narrowing, "Shit.... The poison is already in your system, I can see it. I don't think it can be treated here..."
"Nor anywhere." I said with a frown. "Demon poisons don't kill right away, or... at least this one doesn't. I'll be fine for now."
"Can't you heal yourself?"
He doesn't know much about angels, does he? To think he was even married to one.
"No, only up in Heaven. We can't heal ourselves down here." I said with a frown. "Raphael might be able to help...."
"Who?"
"A friend." I said as I leaned forward and ran the sink water. I splashed some water on my cut and winced slightly. I had to at least clean it up.
"I'll do it," her father said before I slapped his hand away.
"Don't touch it. The poison harms a human more than it does an angel. I'm fine. Do you have anything to cover this? I can't exactly walk around with an open blue leaking wound."
Her father narrowed his eyes before nodded. He covered my wound with gauze, keeping it in place with medical tape. He was careful not to touch the poison.
"Did a demon attack my daughter because of you?" He asked finally as he took a step back.
"I'm not sure.... Demons are killing all angels down here, and since she is part--"
"My daughter barely has any angel in her! How could they know?" He yelled, "It has to be your fault! They are after you! You brought the demon here!"
I flinched back at his words. Words hurt. Perhaps I was the one who brought the demon here. I mean, if I couldn't even figure out that Sophia was part angel, then there would be no way a demon could tell. Right? Kaileb hadn't even realized that she was part angel.
Maybe... I'm the one to blame.... I am the one that put her in harms way. No.... Not only have I put Sophia in danger. I've been putting Kaileb and Carmen in danger as well.
[YAY! Another chapter! So much drama, dundundunn! XD Please leave your feedback and like! I really appreciate it!]
