-These two didn't seem to have any relation to each other before the last episode in part 1.
Ep. 1 | From YG?
Jay's very first interaction with Jiyeon was an accident. As he accidentally asked Sunghoon a question a bit too loud, when the girls had sat down after introducing themselves as a group from YG. First of all his face had been SHOOKETH, but then he had spoken even more loudly than his face had been.
"If they're from YG, won't that make them insane?"
Not exactly thinking exactly about his words he had chosen, had made Sunghoon let out a light laugh at him before realizing all the girls had heard him, which just made him grin even wider.
"Actually... I would say we're quite alright, thank you."
Jiyeon's reply had made Jay immediately get humiliated... once again.
Ep. 6 | Goodbyes
When it was announced which seven I-landers that would move to the ground at the end of part 1. It was evident that all the boys were distraught by saying goodbye to their close friends. However one small hug shocked a lot of fans. When it was shown that Jay had quickly grabbed Jiyeon's arm and pulled her into a tight hug as he dramatically sobbed, it was revealed how close the two had been throughout their time in I-land. So many clips were shown of how the two always were cheering up one another during practices late at night, and how Jay had scolded Jiyeon once he had found her in the dance studio at 3 am. However it were the line he had said next in the hug that really seemed to shock people.
"Promise to come back. For me?"
Ep. 8| DNA
Whilst practicing for the BTS test the boys had all gathered together in the kitchen to make dinner one night. All happily goofing around and playing music loudly. Jiyeon and Jay both had been set to cut the veggies as they both swayed back and forth to the music as they happily sang along. Well that was all until Jiyeon let out a small 'ouch' and held up her finger as she inspected it closely. In a matter of moments a long and rambling scolding came from Jay, taking everyone by surprise as Jiyeon just stood there silently with wide eyes staring out into the air. In the end Jay had made sure Jiyeon were not gonna cut any more vegetables and instead Sunghoon took over that post. Not even to mention that Jiyeon didn't even bleed it was just a small line that appeared on her finger.
"We can't have a youngster like her cut out vegetables, it's too dangerous."
Ep. 10 | Why?
During episode 10 there were a short moment shown where Jay and Jiyeon both were in the dance studio practicing by themselves. At one point Jungwon had appeared in the windows on the other side and would continuously knock on the windows and wave at Jiyeon before he happily bounced into the dance studio. However Jay were quick to just pick up Jiyeon from behind and continuously turn his back to Jungwon and just walk away with Jiyeon, causing the two youngsters to yell out 'why?' loads of times until Jay eventually stopped and looked over his shoulder at Jungwon with a sharp look.
"You're only 17, you're too young to be in love."
Ep.11 | Petty U
Seventeen had visited I-land to watch how the I-landers had covered their songs. After they had left the I-landers had taken some time off to practice and fool around with each other, where Jay... shamefully had asked Jiyeon to teach him the chorus to 'Pretty U' which she had been a part of. Jiyeon had giddily taught him it, and when it came to the part where you did the poking in the cheeks before bunny ears. Jiyeon had informed that because it was him they would do some English lyrics to it, so she had jokingly told him to say 'Petty U' because it fit him perfectly and he happily did it the first time, before realizing what just had happened and had begun chasing Jiyeon about.
