"mom the doorbell rang" Hayden tells me as we eat cake for their birthday
"really i wasn't expecting anyone?"
i get up to go to the door and i see corbyn standing with a big bag of things
"umm hi" i say opening the door
"hi. i brought some gifts"
"Corbyn! why i said not to"
"yeah i know you said that but i wanted to. i asked gabbie what they would like and well she told me all of this so i bought it."
"you really didn't have to do this you know"
"yeah but i really wanted to. so do you want me to just leave them here like santa or can i come in."
"you can come in if you'd like. we're just having cake"
"what flavor?"
"well there's a few desserts. i got vanilla cake for Jordan and chocolate cake for Ellianna. I also made cookies for Zach and his boyfriend cause i thought he was coming but he left to go to his house so there's a lot left. and i also thought my other daughter was gonna stay so i have a few cupcakes i made too. umm you can have anything"
"oh they all left?"
"yeah, only the baby and Hayden are here plus them. so um yeah"
"oh well i'm sorry i'm sure this was a great party. i'll eat the food"
"good there's way too much. so would you like to come in?"
"sure. i'll tell them you had me pick up these gifts and that they're from you"
"you don't have to you can say they're from you"
"well i know you said you don't want them to know you can't get them gifts so i figured this would work"
"oh thank you. so come in"
we walk in the house and i bring him over to the table
"okay everyone this is my friend Corbyn, Corbyn these are some of my kids" i say introducing them
they all say hi and we sit down
"so do you want some cake, or a cookie or a cupcake?"
"i'll take a slice of cake"
"oooo corbyn which flavor do you like. i like chocolate" Ellianna says
"hmm i like all flavors. which do you think i'll like the most?"
"definitely chocolate Jordan is a weirdo and likes vanilla"
"hey! mommy ellie called me a weirdo"
"Ellianna don't call your brother that"
"but it's true. Corbyn don't you think my brother is a weirdo"
"no he's not weird. everyone is different"
"oh well Hayden agrees with me right Hay Hay"
"sure so we can end this conversation. So Corbyn what was in that bag you brought in?" hayden asks
"it's gifts for Jordan and Ellianna. Your mom didn't have time to wrap them so she asked me too"
"wait momma you said we weren't getting gifts today because of christmas"
"it was a surprise! so do you guys want to open them now?"
"YES!" they both scream and run over to the living room
"be careful guys" i tell them as they run
i follow them into the room and sit on the couch
they both sit on my lap and Corbyn brings over the gifts
i clearly have no idea what he got so i am hoping they like it
he hands them both their first gift and they open it
There was a lego set for Jordan that he's been constantly asking for and this toy Ellianna has been seeing around
"mommy you remembered i wanted this one"
"yup i sure did" i say smiling and looking up at Corbyn
he smiles back and hands the next gifts
he's honestly so nice for doing this. he didn't have to get them anything but he did. and he's even saying it's from me wow
i really hope things work out with him and we date he's already amazing
