Kurenai pov

No matter what I did, what I said, or how many times I tried, Hinata just wouldn't believe that I didn't want to leave her behind. I felt that we couldn't possibly have had enough strength to defeat even one Akatsuki member, especially in our condition.

"So," I said as the door opened. "Have you missed me?"

Hinata glared coldly as she walked over to her usual corner and leaned on the wall.

"What in the hell would make you think that?" She continued glaring at me, blinking only once. "You mean nothing to me." I couldn't help but smile.

"If I mean nothing . . ." I looked up, into her eyes. "Then why would you come back to visit me every day?" Her lips curled in such a way that it looked like she was snarling.

"I don't come every day." She said, now glaring at the wall to her left.

"Like clockwork." She immediately stood up straight, walked toward me, and struck me square in the face. I was forced back from the strength of the punch.

"Don't EVER talk to me like that." She could barely contain the venom in her voice. She began to walk out of the room when I spoke again.

"It's ok." She stopped. "I'm right here. It's going to be ok. I'm proud of you."

Hinata stopped for only a moment, then continued out of my cell.

*Flashback*

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Hinata whimpered to herself at team 8's training ground. Kurenai Yuhi, just walking by, saw the crying girl and stepped forward to comfort her.

"Hinata?" The violet haired kunoichi looked up and Kurenai knelt down. "Whats wrong? What happened?"

Hinata just kept on crying, using her hands to wipe the tears out of her eyes.

"I-I-I failed! . . . I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"

"Shhh." Kurenai pulled her apprentice close to her chest, and did what she could to comfort her. "Its ok. I'm right here. It's going to be ok. I'm proud of you. If you must weep, then weep. I will be here for you."

Hinata pov

"Damn it!" I slammed my fist into the wall. "Why'd you have to go and do that?!" She just had to say THAT. Why can't she just give in? Why does she still treat me like I'm nothing but a child?

"Hinata." I glared at the voice, which belonged to Pain. "Is she a problem?"
