Chapter 23 - Help

Sakura pov

"Um. Miss Sakura?" I looked over to see Hanabi standing beside me. "Is elder sister Hinata going to be okay?"

Hinata was in very bad condition and I was doing my best to keep her stable, but without proper medical equipment, there wasn't much I could do. She was losing blood quickly but there was no time to take her back to the village.

There are other people that need my help. But I can't just leave her. If I can't slow down her bleeding, she'll die in about an hour!

"Don't bother." I watched as Hanabi turned to look wide-eyed at Kankuro. "She's just a damn enemy. Why not just let her die?"

"Kankuro!" I stood up and pulled him to a secluded area, away from the fragile Hanabi. "What is wrong with you!?" I angrily whispered.

"What?" He shot back. "What's wrong with me? You're the one providing aid to the fucking enemy!"

"I'm a doctor! It's my job to help people!" By now I was almost yelling at him. "And besides, Hinata is my friend!"

Hanabi pov

I can't believe elder sister Hinata would do something like this. I sat on my knees beside Father and elder sister and felt my eyes tear up. Come on, Hanabi. Now's not the time to cry. You have to be strong for Father and elder sister Hinata.

"Hanabi." I didn't have the energy to look up. I couldn't let whoever it was see me cry like this. "Hanabi. It's okay. They're going to be alright."

Lady Shizune had her hand on my shoulder and had a comforting smile on her face. I couldn't hold it back anymore. I hugged her and cried into her shoulder. She simply held me up, stroked my hair, and let me cry. It . . Reminded me of Mom . . .

I fell asleep in her arms, beside my dying family.

Shizune pov

She fell asleep in my arms after a few minutes of crying. She was just a little kid, but because of her family she's forced to suppress any emotions that could be viewed as weaknesses or unnecessary.

This poor child . . . This was the only thing I could think as Hanabi Hyuga didn't even know how to express such emotion. I'll have to get Lady Tsunade to have a . . . Talk. With him.

"Lany Shizune."

3rd pov

"Tenten!"

"I . . I'm fine, Neji . ."

What do I do?! What do I do?! We're getting beaten to a pulp here! And where are our reinforcements? Neji thought to himself. Tenten was just barely standing, and Neji had a paper kunai in his gut.

"Well, well," Konan began. "It seems that the difference between us it great. Why don't you just give up now, so I don't have to taint my paper with your blood?"

"N . . Ne . Ver. . . " Tenten fell forward with her eyes rolling back into her head. Neji screamed out her name, but didn't have the energy to move his body to catch her.

Konan narrowed her eyes at the fallen girl and Hyuga boy.

"It looks like I win."
