Y/N walked into the classroom to see Terasuka trying to rally everyone to his cause, telling them that he had a plan. Both she and karma passed, they really weren't in the mood to see some cocky SOB try to drown their teacher, instead they headed to Karmas ditching tree, the one place where noone else went, completely private and isolated from the rest of the world, peaceful and serene.

"Akabane I swear to god if you don't stop flicking dirt into my hair I will shove this stone so far up your ass"

Ok, so maybe not super peaceful.

Karma stretched his arms, deciding against continuing for the sake of his ass, and decided to wind her up a different way,

"Hey, Y/N, which one of us is smarter?" The assassin gave him a weird look,

"Well, what do you classify as smart? I graduated highschool when I was seven, you're in the reject class of junior high." Bringing E class into it was a low blow, but she was probably still pissed about the dirt thing,

"Then let's make a bet."

"Another one?" She sighed, remembering just how well the last one had gone for her, "ok, what's in it for the winner this time?"

He smirked, she had fallen right into his trap, "the loser has to do one thing the winner says, no matter what it is"

"And how do we measure the winner?" He thought about it for a second, and then a brilliant idea popped into his head, a competition he could win without trying,

"Midterms are coming up soon right? The person who scores highest on them wins"

"I can't take the midterms, genius. The Principal said it would be unfair to the curve since I'm technically not a student."

Well, that certainly threw a wrench into his plans a little, "eh, I guess we'll never know then, shame." As soon as he had finished his sentence, a loud boom echoed across the mountain, all the birds took flight at once as smaller booms continued, the two looked at each other,

"Terasuka." They both said in unison, before jumping off the branch and breaking into a run.

They found Terasuka by the new swimming pool, only the pool itself was empty, not just of students, but of water too. Looking over the waterfall, they saw half of E class hanging onto the cliff for dear life, while Koro-sensei was in a mach 20 bottle with Itona, and he was losing. Badly.

Terasuka stood to their right, staring at the gun in his hand in horror,

"I didn't- it wasn't- it wasn't supposed to be like this!" He muttered to himself, upon seeing them he jumped, repeating himself over and over again, trying to convince the two of his innocence. Y/N felt Karma surge forward from beside her, and before she could even blink Terasuka was stumbling back with a bloody nose. Karma had just punched him in the face.

"If you've got time to go pointing fingers, how about using your head to figure out what you should do about it?"

Another yell turned the attention of the three over to where Hara was clinging to a branch that was ready to snap,

"Karma, she's gonna fall!" Karmas teeth were gritted, trying to figure out some sort of plan, until his eyes widened,

"I've got an idea, but I need someone to distract Itona while muscle head here climbs down the cliff."

"Hey! Who said I was gonna help you?" At that Y/N surged forward, grabbing the boy by his collar and yanking him down to meet her eyes,

"Listen meathead, you caused this, so you either help us fix it, or I'll throw you down this cliff yourself and let those two rip you apart by accident." Then she turned to Karma, "I can distract Itona, you tell this moron what he needs to do." While Karma filled Terasuka in, she stepped out onto the edge, reaching out her hand to Hara,

"Grab my hand!" She had to yell over the noise of the fight, but Hara heard her, shuffling around awkwardly to reach out for the other girls hand. As soon as the two made contact, Y/N swung her up onto the bank where the others made sure she was ok. But the cliff edge was already unstable, and as Hara landed, the edge the H/C girl was standing on began to crumble. Y/N made eye contact with the redhead, then he understood, this was her distraction. Terasuka had to go. Now.

As Y/N slipped, Maehara tried to reach out and help her, but he grasped at thin air as the assassin fell towards the water, she screamed as loud as she could and prepared herself for the impact, hoping that this would buy Terasuka enough time. But the impact never came, instead, a white tentacle slipped around her waist, holding her up firmly. Everyone was frozen in place, even Koro-sensei, as Itona brought her closer to him, until the two were face to face. He brushed the hair out of her eyes, whispered something in the girls ear, before placing her gently on the bank next to his guardian.

This was where Terasuka came in, he played his part perfectly, following Karmas instructions to the letter as he took the force of a tentacle to the stomach, without vomiting, which was a lot more impressive to a person who had seen Itona in action. Soon enough the fight was over, Itona was at too much of a disadvantage to continue, and both he and Shiro disappeared as Okuda approached Y/N,

"U-um, are you ok? That must have been a really nasty fall Y/N, you're really brave" she said timidly, slightly in awe of how the other girl could risk her own life so easily,

"Yeah, just a couple of bruises, thanks for worrying though Okuda, you were really brave too!" She blushed at the compliment, although she knew it was more of a formality. She vowed to herself that next time she would be prepared, and noone would have to get hurt because if her gullibility.

"Y/N, let's go." Karma appeared out of nowhere, dripping wet and grabbed her wrist tightly,

"Karma? Why are you so wet? You barely did anything!" He scowled,

"Ask Terasuka." She was about to press further when he started walking away, tugging on her wrist. She mouthed a slight apology to Okuda and then followed the redhead.

They had been walking for a couple of minutes when she finally decided to bite the bullet,

"Ok, what's wrong" she asked, coming to a stop,

"You shouldn't have done that." He replied, his voice low. His head was tilted down so that his fringe covered his eyes, casting a shadow onto his face,

"Done what? You mean the fall? I knew Itona was gonna catch me-"

"so you put your safety in the hands of someone who LITERALLY tried to kill our classmates." He hissed as he lifted his head to show his eyes were full of anger, the normally placid orange of his irises were a fiery red.

"I put my safety in the hands of someone who owed me. That's what he whispered in my ear, 'now we're even' so don't go twisting this around"

Every word made sense, but he couldn't shake the anger inside him that had come when Itona caught Y/N, just the memory of that bastard touching her was enough to make him angry. She was his friend, not Itona's.

Next time he promised himself, next time I'll be the one to catch her.
