Not only he became the sixth Mizukage in Boruto's era he also went through some character change, you can see this when we first meet him he was so shy and low on his self-esteem Ao kept on lecturing him and that angered Mei, but then when we meet him in Boruto, he became more confident in himself and then he took the name of sixth Mizukage.

Fun Fact: The name Chojuro is a red-colored cultivar of the "Asian pear"; like all members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, his name is derived from a type of produce.

Your swords clashed into one another, yet Chojuro flinched back, still afraid to fight you, even though it was just training,

"Chojuro, like I said. You can fight me, it's just training," You told him again for the fifth time probably. He let out a small chuckle,

"Yeah, I know, (y/n). But I just can't," He replied, rubbing the back of his neck in shame. You liked his humble and soft side but, at this point. He's just plain timid,

"Chojuro, right now you're being too faint-hearted for the shinobi world. Youth these days," Ao chimed in, shaking his head embarrassed to have a partner like him,"At this point (Y/n) would do a better job at being Lady Mizukage's bodyguard than you would,"

You gritted your teeth slightly in annoyance as he talked down on your friend, as the somewhat thirty-year-old lectured Chojuro, Lady Mei walked towards us, towards Ao to be exact,

"Shut up or I'll kill you," She whispered to the man as his face went white. You looked at the two, Chojuro did too,"Now Chojuro, go on continue training with (y/n), I have something to tell you two. And (Y/n) dear, if Ao bothers you two again let me know, okay?"

"Yes, ma'am," You and Chojuro answered as the both of you then took your blades and continued fighting each other.

Every time your swords clashed he backed up saying he was afraid of harming you, you then told him that it was okay if you got hurt and that you knew he would never do anything to intentionally hurt you. You walked towards the boy and planted a small peck on his cheek, reassuring him that he doesn't need to be afraid of hurt you. After you leaned back, pink tints appeared on his cheeks where you kissed him, flustered, obviously since it was the first time someone did that to him. You gave a small nervous laugh before continued training, this time he was more confident. And Ao's annoying comments soon lessened.

When you two finished training, you and Chojuro walked into the Mizukage building, making your way to Lady Mizukage's office,

"That move, the one where you lured me in, where did you learn that from?" You asked, recalling the time when the two of you trained and when he lured you into a trap using his chakra,

"Oh, that one. Lady Mizukage taught me how to do it, she said that that move would work for me since I have the Hiramekarei," He explained, chuckling nervously like he always does. You hummed in response.

The two of you then arrived at Lady Mizukage's office, knocking on the door, a small 'come in' could be heard. You two entered the room, seeing one of Kirigakure's elders sitting on a couch near Mei's desk,

"Welcome, Chojuro, (Y/n)," Lady Mizukage started nodding at the two of you,"Since the Raikage has called on a Kage Summit, I'm choosing you, Chojuro, to be my bodyguard to the summit and (y/n), I would like you to be in charge while I'm gone, you don't have to worry, okay?"

We paused before answering,

"Understood, ma'am," You finally croaked out, so that Chojuro does not have to answer, afraid of his voice cracking. You two then bowed before exiting and when you're already out of the building, your friend shrieked,

"One of lady Mizukage's bodyguards, can you believe that?" He said as he jumped around like the toddler he was, he soon calmed down when Ao walked pass us. However, he turned back to his child self when Ao was out of sight. You shook your head, not in shame or disappointment, but at his behavior, since you've never seen your friend this happy,

"Thank you (y/n)!" He added, hugging you,

"You're welcome, Chojuro," You replied, hugging your friend back, patting his back. He soon pulled back, thinking that it seemed unprofessional,

"Sorry about that, I just got really excited. Can I get you a bite to eat?" He apologized, you nodded as the two of you then walked to a nearby Dango stand.
