"Get up." Alex snarled as he grabbed my elbow and roughly tugged me to my feet. I stumbled from the force. Thankfully, my flat shoes kept me in place.
For once, I was glad I didn't wear stiletto heels.
My eyes darted around, surveying the soundless street. One person swaggered away at a far distance -- probably drunk. His form matched the size of my hand.
Alex was muttering to himself, his shoulders hunched. "I have to unearth my vehicle. Yes, yes. A mouthpiece of foldaway which I pilfered, that's for sure. Oh yes, it is. Why won't anyone believe me? Even Hades will believe me. No one will believe me."
Okay, he has totally gone off his rockers.
I shivered when my bare skin met the harsh breeze. Alex's trench coat stirred from its force. I glanced over my shoulder. Pedro's coat -- along with my phone and tracker -- lay on the bench.
Not good.
"Shh! Shh! Shhhhh!" Alex shushed with a finger to his lips, but he was facing away from me. The gesture was aimed at a sewer rat as it crossed the road.
The rodent paused, rose on its haunches, and stared at Alex, possibly thinking what I'm thinking. It twitched its nose and scurried away, leaving me with this lunatic.
I flinched when a light rain pelted my skin, slowly dampening my hair. Dark clouds now gathered above us.

Alex kept talking as he dragged me down the walkway. I clenched my jaw when the handcuffs bit into my wrists.
