Simula

Many people say that I am lucky to be born with a golden spoon in my mouth. I believe them because I think everything that a person could ask for, I have on my plate.

Not until one day, my fate changed.

I saw the large fountain in the midst of the frontage of our humble abode. It is mesmerizing and relaxing at the same time.

After that, I stroll the way towards our house while I am humming merrily.

They halted on walking and bow their heads to greet me. "Magandang hapon po, young miss," ate Roma said while her head is still bowing at me.

I smiled. "Good afternoon din po. Nasaan sila daddy?"

I nodded and thanked them. I went up stairs and stop at the front of my parent's room, and when I am about to twist the knob of the door, I heard them talking earnestly that made me curious about it.

My forehead creased as I heard what my father is saying.

"I know what I am doing. He's a noble man. Everyone looked up to him."

Wait...

What?

Hindi ko maintindihan kung anong pinag-uusapan nila.

"Pero... nag-aalala lang ako kay Thalia."

"There's no need to worry about, Fatima. I got everything under control.

I can feel that hatred builds into my heart.

How could they do this to me?

I immediately open the door and went near to my parents with my nostrils flared and clenched fist.

"Thalia," my mother said my name.

"You are going to sell me off?" I asked with a hint of disappointment in my voice that I didn't even dare to mask.

For what?" I let out a laugh filled with incredulity. "I'm sure it is about business. Bakit pa nga ba ako nagtaka? Business is always more important to you than me!"

"You know it's not true!" daddy scowled at me.

"Of course, it is true! You are always thinking about business and more business that you forgot about me. And now, you are dictating me who I am going to marry!" I shouted back.
