You look at your reflection in the mirror. The young woman staring back doesn't look like you. She looks perfect. Too perfect, in fact. Up until this moment, the very last thing on your mind was getting into a relationship and settling down with someone you loved more than anything. You'd never imagined this would be your reality, having long since given up on the idea of marriage and true love altogether ever since you'd started training under SHIELD as an orphaned young girl, accepting that this day would never come. But as you keep glancing at yourself, turning this way and that and watching your reflection follow your every move, you begin to realize that this wasn't a dream and was real life.

Your hair was plaited around your head in an elaborate braided updo, soft and silky, your golden highlights reaching through your natural locks, stray curls escaping and perfectly framing your face to make you appear as if you're wearing a halo of some sort, almost. The elegant, white layered gown is almost too good to be true, a soft and polished, spotless and creamy tone. It left your shoulders and arms exposed, and you're thankful that hardly any bruises and blemishes that followed as the result of your intense training regime could be seen. You don't want to be reminded of everything you'd given up, the brutality you endured for what you wished to fight for.

Shimmery, subtle floral patterns are scattered across the skirt and reach down to the bottom, fading away as it swishes around. You could see slight hints of silver embedded within the dress, glittering whenever the silky fabric caught the light.

The day you'd picked out the dress, you were with Steve. As soon as the super-soldier laid his eyes on it he pulled it off the racks, grinning widely and deeming it was perfect. Steve had always been there for you, and you considered him as more of an actual father than a simple teammate. He'd been there for you since the day you walked into Stark Towers just a few months before the Battle of New York.

He was struggling to settle into his new lifestyle after coming out of the ice, wondering if he'd ever feel happy again, but as soon as he laid eyes on the curious and wide-eyed ten year old, he was instantly attached. It was hard for him to wrap his head around the fact that a young child with such an infectious laugh and bright smile was being raised to soon become one of the top spies in the country, the youngest to be accepted as part of the Avengers Initiative, he'd soon learn.

The past two months had zipped by in a hazy blur. Everyone was helping to prepare for the big day, working tirelessly, resulting in many sleepless nights and cups of coffee to stay awake. Wanda, Natasha, and Pepper constantly hovered over you like Aurora's three fairy godmothers, with Bucky and Sam gladly stepping up to be your cake taste-testers. You trusted them enough to pick out something good for you, so you let them carry out those jobs.

Your hands are shaking as you slide on your heels. Wanda notices your anxiety and comes forward, taking both your hands in hers.

"Why so nervous?" she asks, concerned. "Is something bothering you?"

"No, I just...I don't know. I just never thought I'd ever come this far, to the point that...well...I never imagined that I'd actually be getting married, you know. Not at this age. I thought that because I was left all alone, that I'd never get the happy ending I initially thought I deserved. What if he suddenly realizes that I'm not the one for him, and he turns on me? What if..."
