Tangled Strings (sequel to Red Strings)

Chapter 38

I look over and see Michael who's biting his lip and looking ahead, obviously thinking about something and I can see that Skyler's fallen asleep, her head slightly towards Luke, who's also fast asleep.  I know that Sylvana and Ashton are behind me and Calum and have been talking and giggling and they slept at somepoint as well.

I nuzzle up against Calum and he gives my temple a kiss and says "Get any sleep?"  I nod still clinging on to him like a koala and he opens the window and when the plane breaks through the clouds I look to see the entire city, the tall towers and buildings and I can just see the statue of Liberty out of the corner of my eye.  New York.

We finally get off the plane, and we quickly head into a car despite the fact there are fans and paps everywhere.  "Hey Calum who's that that you've got on your arm there?" a photographer yells and Calum tightens his grip and says "My girlfriend."  

There are all sorts of shrieks and I can see that the phones are out and the cameras are taking more pictures than ever, and Calum is holding onto me tightly as we try to manuver through.  The flashes and the screaming is so sickening though I feel my head beginning to throb and I smile a little at some of the cameras before we finally reach the car and I jump in.

"Oh god," I breathe out, the panic that had been pulsing through me slowly dying down.  "Are you okay?" Calum asks as he holds my face and I nod slowly before nuzzling against him again and he sighs in relief, holding me close.  "Did it go badly?" Ashton asks and Calum shrugs and I then say, my voice slightly cracking "There were so many of them....it was all so bright and I couldn't take it and for a moment I thought they were going to try and grab me....." 

Calum gives my temple a kiss and says "Don't worry darling, it's fine, you're fine.  We'll be in the hotel soon and you can relax yeah?  I can imagine you're a bit jetlagged anyways."  I don't reply as I still keep close to him as we continue the drive through bustling New York.

We slip into the hotel and Calum intwines his hand with mine as he flashes the key card at me.  "Careful with that, you might lose it!" I said trying to grab it out of his hands but he grins and pulls it out of my reach and says "Well I don't think I will considering you and I are gonna share...."  I look up at him, slightly in shock.  "Legit?" I ask and he nods before my lips curve into a smile.

Well it seems like you don't mind at all about it...." Calum says and we decide to get all our stuff upstairs.  And finally when we get near the top floors, the elevator doors open and I roll my suitcase out as Calum leads us down the hall before unlocking the door and revealing our hotel room.  

It was a large suite overlooking the city streets, and there was a massive king sized bed with huge pillows and a large white duvet on it as well.  It's a simple black and white themed room, with a loveseat by the window and a little kitchenette and the bathroom is a gorgeous ensuite with a gigantic bathtub and shower.  

"This is amazing!" I breathe out finally as I fall down onto the bed and stare up at the ceiling.  "I thought you'd like it." Calum said flopping beside me and I look up at him and giggle a little and then realize.  "Calum don't tell me you made the boys pay for this for me." "No, I didn't make them do that.  I paid for it." Calum explains and I then say "No Cal, you shouldn't have!  You didn't have to-, you should've let me pay for part of this!" 

"Darling you're a uni student you're practically broke." Calum jokes and I pout before he says "It's my money anyways, I'll spend it how I'd like to.  And if it's on you on some romantic suite in the Big Apple then I'll pay for it!"  I pout again before Calum then says "And besides I wanted you to be comfortable while you work on your homework for your classes."  I nod as he then pulls me into a cuddle and says "Don't worry about anything alright?"
