Chapter 28

Skyler's POV

My eyes crack open and I'm met with a blinding light and a pounding head. I look to my right and see the monitor system keeping my heart rate steady. I take a calming breath and try to to prop myself onto my elbows, but I feel a rush of blood to my head and I lay back making a groaning sound. Natalie is sitting on the visitors chair still asleep and I stare at the ceiling. I hear the door creak open what I assume is around ten minutes later. I just lift my head and can identify the top of Luke's hair. He walks over to me and brushes my hair to the side.

"Hey, stranger," I whisper my voice cracking a little bit. Luke smiles but his eyes still look wounded. "You scared the shit out of me," he chokes out and I look up at him grabbing his hand. "I promised you I wasn't going anywhere," I shrug getting teary eyed. He leans down and kisses me so gently I can barely feel his lips graze mine.

"You're never fucking driving again," he says a smile tugging on the corner of his lips "I love you," I reply, "I brought you some food" Luke tells me grabbing a grease soaked paper bag with the Macca's symbol on it. "You're the best boyfriend ever!" I tease once again attempting to sit up. Natalie shifts awake stretching out on the chair. "Morning," I sing. "What time is it?" she asks tying her hair up. "Like 6:15," Luke tells her. "Damn did you sleep at all?" she asks Luke and he just shrugs adjusting my pillows I stick my lips out at him and he pecks them quickly. 

"What time are-" she yawns mid sentence. "The guys-" another yawn. "Coming?" Luke chuckles before replying "I think around 8:30, the doctor said she could check out by 9." "Really?" I smile as Luke pulls the tray out and spreads my breakfast sandwich on it. Luke nods, patting my head and goes to sit next to Nat, I get through around four bites before I'm taken over with drowsiness and fall back asleep. 

I wake up to a knock on my door, and by the time I'm fully awake Michael, Calum, and, Ashton are hovering over me. "You look like shit," Michael smirks and I glare at him. 

"If my arm didn't weigh like 1000 pounds, I would slap you." Calum slaps Michael and I hear Natalie chuckle quietly. We all turn towards her. "So are you two good or do I need to get into another crash?" Luke makes a wincing sounds and Calum shakes his head. 

"No, we're good" Nat grins looking at Cal. "Oh, and good news Ash asked out Sylvana." I make an 'o' shape with my mouth. "Ashton!" I squeak out. "So my advice worked!" I joke and Cal rolls his eyes. "I've taken an oath not to be an asshole," Calum vows. "Let's see how long that lasts!" Natalie says too fondly for me to be concerned. "I love you guys." "We love you too," Ash replies. "Oh and just so you know, you're never fucking driving again" Michael adds I look over to Luke who has a weird expression on his face. 

"Alright so Miss. Andrews, your scans all show that you do in fact have a concussion. You'll need to pick up this prescription from the doctors as soon as possible," the doctor informs me tearing off a pice of paper from a pad and handing it to Luke. "You can do absolutely no physical activity for the next month." I smile and Michael grins back at me. "Your license has also been revoked for two weeks, which I'm sure doesn't come as a surprise and you'll need to do weekly check ups." 

I nod feeling overwhelmed but Cal puts his hand on my shoulder "Understood," I sigh. The woman smiles at me. "Then you're free to check out as soon as your ready." "Thank you," I reply swing my legs over the side of the bed. "You seem to be in good hands," she chuckles leaving the room. "Do I need to carry you? Because I will," Luke offers knowing full well the answer. Nat hands me my shoes and I try to stand, and the room moves. Nat grabs one of my arms and Calum grabs the other. They smile at each other and I look in between them, and then shoot Michael a wink letting out an exaggerated groan. "We got you," Cal whispers, rubbing circles into my back eyes concentrated on Natalie. "I'm going to go get the car," Ashton informs us. "Bring it around front... Luke went to check her out."
