Tangled Strings (sequel to Red Strings)

Chapter 12

Skyler's POV

I scream directly into the phone beginning to dance around in my room "Thank god, I was afraid you weren't going to end up coming with me and tbh I don't think I could've gone without you!" I confess the line suddenly going silence "Sky I think I'm over it." Natalie whispers her voice steady, I bite my lip not even close to believing her. 

"Alright then lets go out tonight." I decide already looking up places we could go.  "Skyler no!" "Nat it is non-negotiable you are going!" I hear Natalie groan and I smile knowing she was going to give in. 

"What time?" "Yay!!" I squeal "Meet me at my house in an hour look hot!" I sing hanging up the phone. It had been so long since we last went out and I was beyond excited.  I ran up the stairs and began to rummage through my closet looking for the perfect outfit.  I hear the familiar face time noise and I grin running across the room to answer it. 

"Hi Luke!" I answer waving at the small camera "Hey" he replies pushing his hair out of his face.  "What time is it there?" I question noticing that everything was dark around him and there was the sound of faint snoring in the background. 

"About 3:30." he says checking his watch.  I prop up my phone on a pile of books and angle it towards my mirror "Shouldn't you be asleep" I tease trying to copy Liz's mother's voice.  Luke chuckles faintly "I can't stop thinking." he admits as I begin to go through my closet again. 

"About what?" "Things….." "Like?" "You, Nalum, you." he says simply making me blush. I drop the jacket I was holding and walk over to my phone making sure he knew I was paying attention. "What about me?" I reply quietly.  Luke grins but it doesn't seem to reach his eyes.  

"I miss you Sky, like really really really miss you." I begin to fiddle with my thumbs not willing to look back up at the camera.  "I literally can't stop talking about you, Michael's about ready to strangle me!" he blushes looking over to what I assume is Mikey's bed. 

"Just promise me, that we won't let what happened to Natalie and Calum happen to us" I was about to argue this but Luke continues "I know it seems stupid that I'd worry about this but Calum's so upset and he's written like thirty heartbreak songs and he stares into the fridge for like a half an hour and even though he pretends to be fine I know he's not!" he rants.

"Luke they're going to work it out, those two idiots love each other way too much for this to be the end of it." I try to assure him, wishing I could hold his hand.  "I love you Sky." Luke whispers looking directly into the camera lease. 

I gulp a smile emerging on my face "I love you too." I giggle as he lets out a sigh of relief.  I take that as my cue to go look for clothes again, "Where are you going anyway?" "Not sure yet." I say truthfully pulling out a black skirt and red long sleeved crop top. "Taking Nat out, she's been going insane with these exams." I tell him facing away from the camera and changing into my outfit. 

"So did she hear back from USC?" "Oh my god! I forgot to tell you? She got in!" "That's incredible!" Luke says proudly "I know right?" I say zipping up the back of my skirt.  "What are you going to do?" Luke asks making me tense as I turn around to show off what I was wearing. "What do you think?" "That is definitely the outfit!" he responds shaking his head dumbly. I roll my eyes "Perv." I chuckle picking my phone up and bringing it to the washroom so I could do my hair and make up. 

"You guys all know exactly what you want to do with your lives, I have no clue." I shrug running a comb through my hair "Sky, you'll find something you love to do, you just have to keep an open mind." He assures me "Yeah but I-" The door bell rings making me drop the comb.
